How is anyone going to have "so much extra cash" in one tax plan vs the other?? The total amount raised raised to run the country is the same with any tax plan. So if you imagine someone is paying less in one plan than someone else is paying more.

In your idea of a fair tax, who is paying less and who is paying more of their money each year.... poor, middle, rich, corporate? In your idea of a "fair tax" which of these groups is going to pay more and which pays less to come up with the same yearly total?

Thats the other problem that needs to be addressed, the amount really needed to run our country is only a fraction of what they (our corrupt polititions on both Republicrat and Demican side) pretend they need.

I like the tax plan under which the Federal Government only is funded for essential core functions, not all of the nanny-gate crap they are increasingly involved in. The more things they get involved in, the more things they control and eventually the more things they completely take over - creating more dependence on the Government (until there is complete dependence on the Government).

The Government is staffed by people who have never had any operate under P&L responsibility, and who usually have no experience or expertise in whatever they are responsible for. It amounts to an ongoing and expensive armature hour staffed by liberal ideologues who believe the Government should have a say in EVERYTHING.

Get rid of the Federal Dept of Education, stay the hell out of regulating MY supplement choices, stop social re-engineering ...

All of this crap is ruing our country and leading us into bankruptcy.

First off.. the fair tax is not my idea.. its completely fleshed out by the some of the smartest economists in the world, and again.. if there is 0 taxes coming out of your weekly paycheck then you would have more money.. its plain math. Now as to your question.. Being that the individual has complete power on "when he wants to pay his taxes" is on him. In the Fair tax.. sales Items can only be taxed 1 time. and that is when its new only.. If you were against paying a certain amount OR any at all.. one could abstain from buying new ****. in fact you could buy a house without paying any taxes on it... or a car ... or anything at all, and after all that still receive a monthly rebate check.. meaning you could actually game the system so to speak.

Don't you see how that doesn't work??? Think!! Every year the government needs a certain amount of money to pay its bills. And we are already spending about 1 trillion more each year going further and further into national debt. But let's just pretend the budget was balanced and all we needed was the same amount of money as today.... let's pretend as a starting point we didn't already need to raise taxes by 1 trillion a year, plus the other 25 trillion we are already in debt.

So right now let's say the government takes 40% of your personal total income in taxes. The government STILL needs the same total amount of money coming in, and it gets that money from us. So whatever tax plan they change to, it needs to generate the same overall total revenue from the same total people. Us.

In the fair tax example, people would take their whole 100% check home, and the feds would design the fair tax rate so that in the end you gave the government the same 40% of your total income through high taxes on everything you purchased. If one group (poor, middle class, rich, corporate) were able to Game the system and pay less, the other groups would have to pay more to collect the same overall total the government needs to run.

If you think YOU could Game the system and be the one guy who manages to pay less taxes, don't you think others would do the same thing?? And if the tax code allowed people to pay less taxes, the government runs out of money and the whole system collapses. Do you think any tax system would allow that?!??!

Did I mention we were already negative 1 trillion every year!?! There isn't going to be any system where some people are going to pay less. In every change, the net total raised in taxes is going to have to be more. You, me, us, them, everyone is going to be forced to pay more.

Until spending gets cut back drastically. And that never seems to happen either.

@thebigt my little girl and I got compound bows this year, I’ve still got a lot to learn about them. The sound of an arrow arrow cutting through air and slamming a target sounds so awesome. its said that the current tax base is about a 155 million people. in the fair tax there would be about 250 million tax payers.. and like i said i am not the one who made the fair tax. this is something the smartest people made and figure will make the words first super rich nation once implemented in its entirety. maybe my analogy was poor because of how i worded it.. when i said you can avoid taxes, i was reffering to the point at which poverty is considered. you can not avoid paying your fair share of taxes because its a sales tax and unless you never bought goods you HAVE to pay some taxes.

Fair tax expands the tax base buy taxing illegals and travelers + all citizen adults. This is as fair as it gets.. those mexicans who work here and dont pay taxes would now have to ... those who travel here would also contribute. everything they buy regardless of wealth and stature gets taxed at the base level.

I am following you.... but if you increase the tax base (which at first sounds good - to tax illegal aliens and drug money) you ALSO tax other people who currently don't pay taxes. There are maybe 20 million illegals, so say half are adults. That adds 10 million to the tax base. Who are the other 90 million added to the tax base?

That is the poor people, and senior citizens who currently pay no taxes. That is what always stopped the fair tax concept in the past. Like I have been saying, for one group to pay less some other group has to pay more. It's not a mystery who that is and why it's gets such opposition...

Look up why the Herman Cain 9-9-9 plan was opposed. It required even the poor to pay just a little, just to have some skin in the game. And people freaked out.

Was it 47% of the country that famously paid no taxes? We can't seem to get that many people to vote to give up their own money any more than we can get congressmen to vote for their own term limits.
