Dmax's pursuit for power & performance

Yeah, the way duffin (and rubish too) rows it really is a full body lift. I'd perform a lift like that on a lower day, personally.

I really don't think barbell rows are anything spectacular. They're a great exercise, don't get me wrong, but it's an assistant lift, it can be replaced.

I agree. I enjoy them now, but went a long time without doing them and really haven't noticed a difference since starting them.

I completely agree here and almost never do bb or db rows myself.

I just know I need to do more rowing so I figured that this was a good way that involved a lot of muscles

I'd advocate something a little "easier" in your case. A rowing variant that's a little less taxing, ya know. You'd likely be able to hit more sets/reps and it wouldn't be as draining physically/mentally, win-win.

You already put so much into the big lifts (especially DLs) that I don't see busting your balls on an assistance lift as "worth it". As the weights climb with BB rows, I'm convinced most people are just recruiting more of their low back/hams and arms, not necessarily upper back/lats.

That said, this is 100% opinion and I'm doing BB rows tomorrow lol

That's why I split my DLs from my lats/rowing. And, I don't have 4 hours to workout like DMax does. lol

I get what your saying. Since I wanted to put more emphasis on them I had been placing them at the beginning of my workouts sorta like I would if it would be one of the big 3. Maybe I'll look to reorganize things and look up some variants

Thanks swim

Seems like the more I cheat bb rows the more I feel it in my lats. Like I hoist the weight up and try to hold it at the top. That said, I prefer KB rows, high pulley rows, chest supported rows, and lat pulldowns with my torso almost parallel to the floor.

My favorite exercise for the lats and upper back is benching in a shirt tho. ;)

Your last get tired in a shirt? Mine never really have.

Hard to say, I never do more than triples. But my back looked a lot different after I did that 8 week shirt prep last year.

Maybe I just didn't notice it. I seem to have some strengths other raw lifters just don't have. I think raw guys should try some cycles in gear for the benefits.

Totally agree. Don't even have to compete in gear but learning how to descend into tension to load up the gear as opposed to finding the path of least resistance has great benefits to the raw lifter. The muscles that you need to get strong in gear, it seems a lot of them are hard to train optimally raw.

As does the CNS retraining. That's so different when a weight feels like it's going to drive you into the earth but you try it anyway. I also think you learn how to better use accommodating resistance too.

I agree with all of this and plan to use gear for periods in my off season for overload and to keep my CNS ramped up.

This is where I give guys in gear the biggest props. I know how heavy a weight feels on my back the first time. I can't imagine that feeling + a few hundred pounds if I were properly trained in multiply gear

I'll be honest nothing in multiply ever felt it was going to staple me to the ground until the first time I tried 755. After I peaked it all felt light on my back. Bench and deads are a totally different story.

You guys are insane. 400 feels like it's going to drive me in the ground...

DMax, if you're just looking to fry your lats instead of just moving weight superset really close-grip pull downs with DB rows. On the DB rows double up your mini orange band around your wrists and pull it as far apart as possible at the top.

I'll video them.

Great day
Bench went well, missed my first double at 275 cause my elbow popped lost tightness and groove second set was much better second was a grinder cause spotter didn't realize I was doing 2 lol.

Switched to reactive slingshot for some overload. Now that my form is better I feel this is the best approach for me just the weight always feels heavy on bench and I need to get over that.

230×9 I think is a pr not sure, could have gotten 10 I think but I bb the 9 rep O well

Neck is screwed still hurt the whole time can't seem to work it out

Picked up a an old bar with a slight bend from the gym for 40 bucks just for mobility at home good investment I think

Rest was just to get some work in

Diet
I'm upping my calorie these days by 100 feel like I'm not gaining on bench cause of lack of body fuel

That's it thanks for reading
