I don't personally get much from them in gear or raw. Top end strong I guess.

Whaddya mean the Pendlays aren't working out for you? Just don't feel right?

Wanted to use it as kind of an overload but I just end up using more body English then I'd like and not very explosive
Cause u are a beast
IMO pendlays are underloading. The duffin style bb rows or more of an overload.
Know of a video?
Lou u need to start making coaching videos to relay all your knowledge
Gotcha I've been doing it backwards
Yeah, the way duffin (and rubish too) rows it really is a full body lift. I'd perform a lift like that on a lower day, personally.
I really don't think barbell rows are anything spectacular. They're a great exercise, don't get me wrong, but it's an assistant lift, it can be replaced.

I just know I need to do more rowing so I figured that this was a good way that involved a lot of muscles
I'd advocate something a little "easier" in your case. A rowing variant that's a little less taxing, ya know. You'd likely be able to hit more sets/reps and it wouldn't be as draining physically/mentally, win-win.
You already put so much into the big lifts (especially DLs) that I don't see busting your balls on an assistance lift as "worth it". As the weights climb with BB rows, I'm convinced most people are just recruiting more of their low back/hams and arms, not necessarily upper back/lats.
That said, this is 100% opinion and I'm doing BB rows tomorrow lol
That's why I split my DLs from my lats/rowing. And, I don't have 4 hours to workout like DMax does. lol

Seems like the more I cheat bb rows the more I feel it in my lats. Like I hoist the weight up and try to hold it at the top. That said, I prefer KB rows, high pulley rows, chest supported rows, and lat pulldowns with my torso almost parallel to the floor.
My favorite exercise for the lats and upper back is benching in a shirt tho.![]()
Your last get tired in a shirt? Mine never really have.
Hard to say, I never do more than triples. But my back looked a lot different after I did that 8 week shirt prep last year.
Maybe I just didn't notice it. I seem to have some strengths other raw lifters just don't have. I think raw guys should try some cycles in gear for the benefits.
Totally agree. Don't even have to compete in gear but learning how to descend into tension to load up the gear as opposed to finding the path of least resistance has great benefits to the raw lifter. The muscles that you need to get strong in gear, it seems a lot of them are hard to train optimally raw.
As does the CNS retraining. That's so different when a weight feels like it's going to drive you into the earth but you try it anyway. I also think you learn how to better use accommodating resistance too.

This is where I give guys in gear the biggest props. I know how heavy a weight feels on my back the first time. I can't imagine that feeling + a few hundred pounds if I were properly trained in multiply gear
4-5 more weeks then I switched to gear for a bit pretty excited
Thomas i can't visualize what your describing

If you follow that with a rib eye and potato, then it's okay.
Nope is was a smokehouse salad so it had 6oz of beef brisket on it and I followed it up with grilled green beans
