Hi guys

I have been told by my doc after running a panel of bloods that taking DHEA supps has shut me down...........I have searched high and low on this one and cant find anything to back up his claims....every thing I find reckons its beneficial for the older trainer (58yold) and would boost the system rather than shut it down.

has any body come across this one before ...........would be good to know as its holding up being prescribed test.

Thanks in advance.

Here is a hormone conversation chart. Notice on the right side that DHEA converts to testosterone in two steps:

Taking DHEA did not shut you down. You probably need to find a doc that understands this stuff or get referred to a specialist.

Thanks guys...I was running 25mg a day which I upped to 100mg around a month ago...........just happened to get my bloods done ...and my lipids are out ,resting blood sugar level up...test reading's way down....so the doc asked what I was taking and he happened to jump on the DHEA thing.........uk docs for ya.....i know the DHEA can affect your HDL so I thought that might apply to me........but shut you down , I had never heard of that one before.
Pushing them for a test prescription ...& they don't like it (:

Thanks again guys

Soz guys that's what I meant...fasting blood sugar...check it first thing in the morning before any food consumption.........time to seek a new doc.

cheers guys.

Lol, good that you "think" its a waste of time.

Tell me why it's not.......just more opportunity to convert to estrogen. What truly is the benefit of DHEA? If you feel strongly about it, state your case. I won't argue with you if it works for you.

There are many threads here, some of which I have started, about the importance and benefits of DHEA (and pregnenolone). Namely- mood, libido, energy, cognitive function, and overall anti-aging with additional benefits related to cardiovascular health. If you have a good specialist, talk to them about it and get tested for your levels. Some docs, thankfully much less nowadays that they are understanding TRT better, will add HCG in the treatment, in part due to the more "natural" way to increase preg and DHEA (as well addressing atrophy). However, HCG does lend to a much faster rate of aromitization and usually requires an AI to avoid the sides. So, more specialists are instead adding preg and DHEA to protocols for patients that do not intend to come off or have children. I personally know 5 endos and hormone specialists that all have leaned this direction in the last couple years.

As far as increased estrogen, the chances of this being affected by supplementing with DHEA are negligible and more likely with a poor TRT protocol.

I was following your threads/posts regarding DHEa/pregnenolone as you used to take low dosages like I do. What dosages are you on now?

That is a very thoughtful and intelligent answer; thank you.

because it converts to things body used. I would take test and that for hrt.
if estro high fix dose or add ai IMO

I did initially to get my levels up and stable, then I started to back down days to the minimum needed to keep my levels up. That has been about every 4 days, so I just take on the day after. There are times I'll add in a day because the Pregnenolone energy is fun.
