Danb's Mountain Dog and everything else log

Alright sorry for the lack of updates over the weekend. Not a whole lot new to talk about lol ive been getting in the zone so hard from the minute I step in the gym lately I dont even think about tracking my workouts. Hit bi's and tri's last night everything was either a tripple set or a drop set with pretty close to no rest periods in between lol felt awesome was pumped to the max and was sweating bullets by the end. In and out in under a half hour. Hit back today same story didn't utalize any tripple sets but a few supersets and extremely short rest periods. Got home and was looking in the mirror and thought I looked a little leaner than ive felt lately and realized I hadnt stepped on the scale for a little while. And the last time I did it was at night which obviously isnt a very accurate reading. So I decided to hop on and was actually a little shocked by what it said...208.5! And that was after breakfast and a half gallon of water. I was pretty excited I have to admit lol. I wish i woulda stepped on first thing this morning. I've been in the 211-213 range for a while so it was nice to see a couple poubds gone. Even though I know the scale doesnt really mean anything still nice to see.

you know I was just thinking about e-mailing you dan..
wanted to check in; looks like things are well? as for the weight - was to be expected, after our adjustments..that said, keep an eye on this (yes weigh first thing upon rising, unless you have to pee first) and if we lose too quick, I need to know
you do not ever want to lose (or gain for that matter) weight too very quickly...

if losing too fast: you are prolly losing muscle too
(other than initial water depletion on a diet)

if gaining too quickly: you are prolly storing to adipose

great work tho - shows you are obvious committed and executing to a T

Thanks dude. I figured itd be lower than before but wasnt sure by how much. Also I wasnt exactly sure how long its been since I stepped on the scale im not sure if I lost anything since our change lol ill keep an eye on it though for sure.

Congrats on leaning up Dan! I got my split together for Mountain Dog, pretty intense stuff.

Thats good to hear brother. I cant wait for you to give it a run and hear your thoughts

No lack of intensity in the gym is always a sign of results to come. keep killing it brother!

Definitely man. And thank you. I think im actually hooked on the low rest period drop/SS combos. I cant imagine taking anything longer than a 45 sec rest period anymore. It makes me feel like im cheating myself haha. I used to be a 2 min rest period on everything guy. I wish I would have started this sooner and not wasted so many years of my gym life lol

AMEN! I still think there is a place for this but typically I don't go over 90 seconds unless a program calls for it. When training along I am itching to get back at it quickly and 45-60 seconds can seem like an eternity. Of course other times depending on the lift 60 seconds seems to come too quickly, like on leg press and squats...

For sure. I start getting antsy around the 30 sec mark now lol thats a big reason I started throwing tripple sets in 45 secs goes much faster when u cant breathe lol. Im kinda sad this is my last week of MD.

digging the short rest periods..dude is rolling now

yes the only time it really behooves one to take longer rest periods, is when lifting seriously heavy and focusing on strength solely
kinda hard to be pushing hella weight @ 3-6 rep range, and only taking 30-45sec rests..strength will obviously be in the tank realllll quick, and will defeat the purpose of a such structured program

other than that tho -- short rest, FTW :cool2:

I feed my kids big macs pureed in olive oil and egg yolks and they turned out fine
<img src="http://anabolicminds.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=84916"/>

Omfg this had me rolling!!

They csn dance if they want to. They can leave their friends behind

Lol my wife has stayed as far away ftom me as possible tge last few days. The closest she has came to me was about 5 foot and that was just to throw sugar free jellos at me while I laid on the couch. I felt like the bears at the zoo when kids are throwing food over the wall to it lol

Followed by this??!!
Lol

Nice job Dan! Your progress is making me push myself harder to lean up.

See bud I told you!!

Great job in here Dan

Nice work like the log to show the work. Impressive.

So what did you decide to do training wise? I may have missed it or you haven't revealed that info yet. Where will you be logging it so we can follow?

Brother, those are some tough supersets.. nice work - impressive!

I honestly havent decides yet. Im leaning towards staying with MD style workouts but mixing it up a little. Throwing some phase 2 volume with some phase 3 intensity haha

dude, you are looking good. really nice pec/delt/trap devcelopment and your back width is peeking out there too

Typically from what I read wouldn't you just do a deload week or two and then start over with a PHASE 1 perhaps with just some different exercises, or possibly doing a different split?

Those love handles are stubborn bastards I tell ya what. I guess theyve had years to build up I dont expect them to go away overnight...would be sweet though lol thanks for the kind words buddy.

Thanks swanks. The delt develpoment I feel has REALLY started to shine the last couple weeks. Every shoulder day im seeing new veins pop up running though my delts and upper pecks. Backs getting there. Again the extra fat around my midsection really takes away ftom how wide my back actually is compared to how it looks. Cant wait for that to come off even more.

Dan, looking good. Not sure why you seem unsure.
Thanks man. I just expect more out of myself I guess. I hold myself to gigh exoectations so when im not hapoy with something it shows. I have a feeling ill be one of those guys whos never satisfied. What was that one quote arnold said "to be normal would be the worst thing ever" or something along those lines lol
Edit- had to look it up it was bugging me

The worst thing I can be is the same as everybody else. I hate that.

Thats definitely an option. And actually what I pretty much just did. Im gonna take next week to deload while im on vacation. Although our resort does have a gym so ill still probably hit that everyday.

You should be good to go then, no need to stop the program if you like it and get good results from it. It was designed to be repeated.
Did my first ever Meadows Rows today, I think I like them. Nice stretch at the bottom once I found where to put my hips. So far everything I have done from the MD arsenal seems to be excellent!

Oh man those meadows rows can be brutal. Wait until you start super setting them! I can say without a doubt theyve conttibuted a good amount to my lat development over the last 6 months. Are you using a BB or a machine to do them on?

I used the T-Bar machine, got up to 125 on the bar was pretty stoked with that. Definitely lets you know which arm is stronger too.

Haha you know TBH the last month all o have been able to think about (food wise)
Is how nice its gonna be to get down there and eat whatever and not track anything yada yada...but now that its actually coming close the thought of not tracking anything scares the bajesus outta me as crazy as that sounds because I am actually worried about wrecking everything ive busted my ass for so far lol So I told my wife yesterday actually im gonna keep it moderate and eat as well as I can without being too anal while we're there..she told me i was nuts lol

^^ :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
now THAT is what i'm talking about! you got the mindest change going on!
I think that is just awesome

Lol the mindset is there I just l
Hope the will power is too haha I think it is though. Ive turned down more crap food the last few weeks than you can imagine lol I was actually told the other day by a family member im "taking this diet and gym thing way too far" and i was "obsessed" because I turned down food at a cookout over the weekend. I was shocked lol some ppl just dont get it.

the average person, does NOT get it, at all
they would rather buy that latest greatest miracle pill as-seen-on-late-night-tv that promises to do all the work for them - without them changing a thing in their lifestyle or dietary choices
trust me man, I been in this field for a long time, and it no longer is shocking the level of some ignorance shown as well as lack of desire to accomplish it..always some excuse, toi not be able to follow thru
meh

Where's this miracle pill? I wanna eat some Cheetos and quit spending money on a gym membership.

Lol the mindset is there I just l
I was actually told the other day by a family member im "taking this diet and gym thing way too far" and i was "obsessed"

I have heard this so many times, it becomes comical.

It is our lifestyle, in a sense our 'hobby' and hell if it is an 'obession' then pat us on the back. I remember my last 'obsession'. Tv, no exercise, and mcdonalds (etc).. had me sitting on the couch at 365lbs... f**k 'em

That's the truth

Next time you get offered a plate full of shlt food, you have my permission to tell he whom offers that you only "eat thunder, so you can shlt lightning" and then walk away like nothing happened. That'll learn 'em.
