Crypto currency

Don't leave your money on exchanges. Especially ones that aren't registered and don't follow security measures.

Good find, jameschoi.

edit- and the amount stolen is now reported to be $723mil. Daaaayummm... Someone is getting their lambo with a matte finish!

LOL

On other news- I just bought the family a new home Mac (the 27.5" is huge, my kids are freaking out) and installing the new Office suite, there is an option under my account to redeem Bitcoin. I clicked it and it took me to options of exchanges! Never saw this before, but it was pretty cool.

Ya know, I ended up dumping it because the roadmap was starting to stretch out and I wasn't seeing much activity on Github, so that tells me they need more developers or something is happening to slow things down. I had 2500 of them and I was thinking that the wait to payoff ratio wasn't good financially, so I traded them for REQ. I love REQs whitepaper and I bought it when it was down to .37.

What you think about IOST? I have some with them.

Don't know a lot about them other than it is used for pump and dump, so you need to be careful. Not unlike many coins under .10, because they are easy to manipulate regardless of how great a project it may be.

And by be careful, I mean, don't go chasing if you see the price rising. People tend to think they are missing out on something and try to catch the wave. Watch the candlesticks and the depth charts. If it starts climbing fast and there is no news or reason, plan to sell at the high or if you are long, hodl. It will just about guaranteed come back down.

What did you buy in at?

I just wish you aholes would stop driving up the cost of graphic cards. I have no problem with bitcoin, but it's ruining the pc gaming market, because people are buying up 15-20 cards at a time.

Lol, Nvidia recently announced that gamers should be priority instead of miners when it comes to buying their graphics cards

Don't get me wrong, I actually think any alternative currency to any centralized currency is a good thing, but there needs to be a better solution for both sides. I think companies should put out mining specific GPUs. I have no idea how the mining itself works, but I hope they can start making GPUs that miners rather have than gaming GPUs and they build them in such a way that they can mine better than gaming GPUs, giving them incentive to buy the mining specific cards over the gaming optimized GPUs.

I seriously have no idea why anyone would mine at this point unless they were going to be running multiple GPUs and then the profit level still doesn't make much sense.

Wow, check to make sure you have your bitcoins safe under your couch. The news is worse than this morning.

The stolen coins were worth about 58 billion yen at the time of detection, or roughly $534.8 million, according to the exchange.

My dentist just announced that they are accepting Litecoin and Bitcoin as payment options now, so that's kinda cool.

Surprised he isn't accepting Dentacoin. For all the people calling it a scam, there are a lot of dentists that are starting to sign up. I know 2 of them locally that are evaluating it. It's dirt cheap too.

I haven’t heard of Dentacoin, it looks like a lot Dentists are actually pretty into crypto.

Just waiting for it to jump to a penny! Lol. I bought 250k at .0010
The ones less than a penny are where the real money is made.. lol throw $1,000 at several small coins that may be worth a damn, and if just one or two reach $.50 or whatever, you’ve made a ton of money.

^right^ ... it’s a game of percentages. Pick the right one- and you could be the next millionaire. Although, I had lost all faith in bitcoin... but recently have put more towards it...hearing it may Grow steadily and hit huge numbers. They have to do something about their fees though...

It's a bit of a shame, but so many overseas companies don't allow you to buy bit coin. NZ doesn't allow it, and while it can still be do everything, not many exchanges available for this market. To top it off, any bank account detected to be involved in bit coin will be closed.

What’s the minimum you guys usually put on a $0.07 alt coin? Curious.

Which one are you looking at? You need to look at the market cap to see what it could realistically get to, some of them alts have such a big supply that they don’t have much room to grow more than where they already are at.

What about sending money to someone and having them just send it to you after you set up a wallet? Cashing out may be difficult, though.

That's a way, but I'd have to trust that person like 1000%, which I don't have anyone.

Cashing out through PayPal would be easy enough depending the value.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure if you had any family or close friends in any other country. It looks like you may just have to make the move to the Land of the Free lol

Psh, I’d do it for you. I know that doesn’t mean anything but I would lol

Haha nah not at all. I love where I live, but do hate how they can be restrictive on things like this.

If you told me what you wanted and I have it already I would send it and trust YOU to PayPal me the money back to reimburse what I sent you.
That's very kind man! After knowing I couldn't do it myself I have invested elsewhere but when I have more funds available I'll consider the offer!

Guys, let's just stop. I am the only one Jiigzz trusts around here so I can see through his "who do I trust" games. LOL

Honestly bro, and I hope you know I would give you the most honest answer- only play with what will allow you to sleep at night. Everyone will wish they could have put more in when they take off and wish they hadn't when it doesn't.

So, watch the market and what a coin is doing and then maybe throw in $100 to see. What coin? IM me if you want and I will get more in depth.

Exactly this. Only invest what you can stand to lose. Don't sink yourself trying to get in on something early only for it to tank

Okay guys, so since I have a Minds account, they sent me an email stating that their point system is now converted over to bitcoin, so that I will be earning bitcoin from using the site. That's great, now how does it even work?

Send Admin an invoice at the end of each month. But he's being weird and saying, "no, I don't owe you anything stop messaging me" every time I try redeem my points.

The easiest thing is to set up an account over at Coinbase and then give him your BTC wallet address to send you your money. Pretty lame on their part though because the fees are outrageous. So let's say you earned $50. After the transaction fee, depending on when he sent it, you'd only see a fraction of that.

So is it even worth trying to do anything at this point, or should I just let the points sit for now at least?

Oh, we'll may as well write that off. It will cost them $20 to send $6. At least if they were using ETH, it would only be about .20

Check out Cryptomiso. I read an article about it this morning. It ranks crypto based on GitHub activity. If nothing else- it gives an alternative look at to what might have some momentum.

Yeah, it's good as a very small part of the equation. Github commits can mean a lot of things- keep in mind that even corrections to current code line or the smallest tweak is considered a commit, also taking into account how new a project is. On the plus side, it generally means they have a development team serious enough to be continually involved.

IMO, the biggest factors are real world application, how necessary the coin is for the project to work, and partnerships. As blockchain/crypto works to move into mainstream and solve problems that exist today, it's important to have buy in from corporations, entities, and governments behind a project. They won't throw support behind just anything, so if you see this occurring, it is worth looking further into.

Telling you all- look hard and close at anything surrounding logistics, supply chain, and anti-counterfeiting. I believe after this crash is done and the dust settles, these will be the first to rise. Oh, and also ETH. Can't seem to miss with this OG. Probably should be the backbone of any portfolio.

ETH is definitely my main holding at this point. If I can get BTC back into the positive I think I want to get out and put it into something else, same goes for GNT. I’m hovering just below a few dollar loss right now on those two and it’s really bothering me lol

Not an actual loss, but with trades and different buy in prices it’s showing as a loss.
