No it tastes pretty good. Only caught a few last night. Wasn't planning on keeping til I killed one so I kept 2. Lemon pepper on the grill is pretty delicious. Here's some we did a while ago.

I did catch a nice little native last night but the big rainbows are better and actually have some meat on them.

Strongly considering pulling today instead of bench so I can have a longer break to squat friday. Would bench wednesday... I need to decide.
 
The question is do I feel like 600 today. I feel like lifting something heavy... But what will it be. Hahaha. My hammy a feel a little funky so I'm gona make sure they are good. Stretching and mobility time.
 
Bench goal is 305 then 315 if its easy. I calculated maxes at 317 and 310 for two different sets I've done. Ill go straight for 315 if I feel good. But I think ill do it Wednesday because no way I can max after hitting a big dead. I just hope my body is 100% for pulling. I feel pretty good.
 
Like Wendler states: You need to auto-regulate how you feel every lifting day. If you are feeling it then go for it, and if not, back it off to lift big another day.
 
I feel good. I'm pulling today. Unless something gets weird during setup. I did get a spotter for tonight but he'll probably come in Wednesday too. Guys actually pretty jacked. Late 30s but he puts up some serious weight and PLd for a few years. I'm ready to rip some weight though.

Hell yeah. It's always good to get have the eye of a seasoned PL'er around. Wish I could workout later in the day when this old PL'er is there. Guy is 55 and still DL's over 600.
 
Yeah my guy doesn't pull at all. him or his buddy who is like... monster size. 6 3 ish, prob 250 now and they don't compete anymore. But yeah it will be good to have him around on the bench.

Just had a big piece of grilled chicken, 10 oz or so, a baked potato, and some baked beans. I'm gona eat a little something else too here. I had oatmeal and greek yogurt for breakfast. So far so good on the eating lol. I'm just so ready to go. I'm off work today so literally the day is devoted to staying mobile, eating, prepping and lifting. Time to go roll my back.
 
When you think you're stuffed, eat some more! A good bloat and an excessively tight belt always help me off the floor! :-D
 
I was thinking that. I ate a couple spoonfuls of PB and another glass of milk. Lifting at 4. I'm seriously trying not to get too amped too early... Like I want to go now. It's killing time today boys.
 
That's actually something I need to fiddle with (my belt). When I was pulling good, it was kind of hard to get down to the bar. Like a conventional pulling suit. Hypermobility = the enemy of a big total.

I've been looking around for PL meets around me on powerlifting watch - so far found a DL, BP & Curl meet in IN, otherwise the closest full PL meet is Columbus, OH. Hoping to find something less than 3-4 hours away...maybe local...
 
I actually have been getting my belt too tight lately but I agree. You need to be mobile at the right places and tight in others.

2 scoops condense and 1.5g alcar in the pre today. Sounds good.
 
I usually it 1 scoop and it does the trick for me. I'm gona try a 550 pull no straps after I get 600. Then my normal week 1 DL work I think... I kinda do feel like benching today since it's monday but hey, it's time to pull, so it's time. I might do some form work on bench w/ 135 after the main work. Probably only doing a little back and bi work after the main DL stuff. and the the reps will probably be 5-5-5, no way I'm going for more on the last set. I think it's 430 for my heavy set today which shouldn't be bad but I am sure it will feel heavy after my maxes.
 
It's go time boys. PWO is down. gona heat roll and warm up a little then head over in about 15 mins.
 
Also. Can someone explain this to me? It looks like the only record in my age/weight is bench at 315... which I will be going for wednesday. If I make that bloomsburg meet this is what I will be competing under.

No go 600, I tried again no straps still no go. Two failed attempts no straps at 575. 500x1 no straps no issue. So I guess that's good news... I missed 495 the first time warmin up and that may have gotten to me. Today just wasn't the day. Back to crushing rep PRs and ill see 600 another day. Still got bench and squat to focus on which honestly are more important to increase on.

Back to do some more pulling because I'm pissed. Might try 550 no straps just because. My stomach has felt weird the whole time though...

The links you posted earlier displayed the PA records for the 198 Professional Multi-Ply division. The Pro division is for non-drug tested lifters. Amateur is for drug tested. Multi-ply is multiple layered briefs/suits. I assumed you didn't mean to post that specific category.

Also check Powerliftingwatch.com for the records that are accepted by all Feds, not just RPS, in case you're curious.

Ditching the straps when grip is a factor is a huge ego hit and you're more of a man than accepting it. You're completely right, that straps have their place, for reps and overload, or when grip is no issue for the lifter. You're no less of a lifter for not being able to pull what you can in straps. If everyone could pull what they could strapless as they did with straps, then everyone would wear them. If you're serious about competing soon, then you made the right decision to attempt a 1RM strapless. 500lbs itself is still a proud lift to own, especially when you know more is in you
 
Hmmmm. When I entered the record stuff I selected classic raw and I thought I should be amateur. That's what I selected. I wonder if the Link is switching it for you?

Ill check those out too I just know the meet I'm considering is RPS.

I did pull with straps for the first attempt and dropped them after just out if curiosity. Grip didnt even worry me once I got 500 off the ground an I'm confident I could match my PR of 550 or whatever else I pull without straps now. I don't know what was up today but it didnt feel right when I got to pulling. That just means back to training. I will be pulling no straps more often now but still using them on my max reps sets for obvious reasons:to get max reps. Ill drop them for heavier joker sets afterwards.

I felt not hip or flute engagement today and I don't know what was up. Not gona worry about it and focus on bench and squat for this week and get back to hard work in my training sessions now. 600 isn't going anywhere and ill be back for it in a few months. I'm confident if conditions would have been right I could have pulled 600. The fact I couldn't budge 495 my first warm up pull is proof enough something was off. Important thing is to keep moving forward. I know my rep and weight PRs are increasing and that I'm getting stronger. One missed Max attempt is nothing to worry about.

I've never seen the bar bend as much as it did on 600 I don't know why I wasn't generating power off the floor I never have an issue there. Something was off. I could tell it was close. Anyways I'm still happy I got 500 strapless pretty easy after all that and I'm sure my first pull could have been more like 550 if I had gone for it initially. Time will prove that to be true or not.

Yeah your tuck looked much better than the last time. Most guys are aiming for their sternum to nipple region. With your long-ass arms, you might be on your upper abs. That's where I was touching earlier this year, but I was way over tucked.

I was going to ask about this very thing - Thanks! I've been trying to figure out if I'm touching too low - usually just below my pecs
 
Where you touch will depend on your arm dimensions(humerus length) and of course your tuck/grip width on the bar. Your form looked good...nice arch by the way. Now you need to be able to hold that form with maximal loads.
 
Thanks. We find out tomorrow. I actually felt super stabilt there so. As long as the hip flexor doesn't cramp mid rep I'm good.

Now how about feds that require a flat foot?
 
Funny you say that^^ My son has to have a flat foot in the federation he lifts in out here...basically the only damn one out here in AZ. It has been difficult to find a good base for him to push with because of that.

Look into Oly shoes perhaps? Or something with a raised heal? might provide him that angle and stay on the ground
 
Yeah, supposedly there are some here that the older PL I mentioned required flat feet. He told me last night when we talked about it. So I guess I just find out. But if it helps with training I will train that way.
 
Just when you go to do the meet just email the meet director if it is unclear in the rule books. I'll tell you, some parts of the one I went to were confusing...yet at the meet it wasn't.


If it is I would train that way though.
 
Raised heel definitely helps with the flat foot. Oly shoes are great, my workboots also have a big heel and they work just the same.
 
My nikes have a heel, I mean I'm sure there are shoes out there with more. No where near what I need to get an arch though. I'll play around with it next week or on my rep work tomorrow.

I say you buy some stilettos and wrap duct tape around the heel so they don't snap off and call it a win.

I might be able to arrange that, but you don't want to see a video of a dude benching 95lbs for a PR. I won't make you sit through that.
 
Sounded kinda nice. What do they call those shoes chicks wear tho, wedges? I wonder if they have like athlete wedges. lol
