Cooking with whey

Yeah driven, you flat out killed the cooking game with that cake.

/thread

Have you guys seen the new MTS Flavor? Never had MTS before, but will definitely be picking it up now. I will be awesome for baked goods.

at first i wasn't too impressed and then i read + graham cracker bits and got excited. i have never tried any MTS flavours but i have dissapointed with every protein I've tried with extra bits in it except for Cellucor s'mores. I wish MTS had samples because 5lbs is a lot to buy untested.

MTS flavors seem to be legit. Personally haven't tried yet. Saw the next new flavor that will be released. Definitely will be able to do some baking with it to make some awesome stuff.

:)
Sure is

Classic ice cream cake with chocolate bottom and a fudge crumble layer

That entire cake has 45 carbs.
Dieting is only as boring as you make it
Much wizardry on that cake man. Did you do some abracadabra before cooking it? 45g. That's insane. Yet here I am, on my 4th attempt on a protein pancake, and it still tastes like cardboard.

Try out one of The Solution recipes?

I did. I'm watching all his pancake videos. Maybe it's the protein I'm using? The only thing I do not have is a blender and baking soda. But no problem on the blender since you can just use a fork or something.

I followed one of his recipes which was like:
6 egg whites
1 scoop protein
30-40g pancake mix(I use bisquick)
2 splenda packets
a little bit of water since it's too thick sometimes.

It taste so much better if you only cook only side so the other side could act as frosting. it actually tastes good if i don't cook it.

Red velvet is very good as is PB fluff and caramel sutra highly recommend rhem

I'll be getting some KLP I'm soon from Marc

Interested to your thoughts on it. Caramel Sutra sounds like it would be right down my alley, hoping for a sample at the Arnold.

A fork? Use a whisk.

The type of protein can make a difference in the end result, if Bob used a whey it would not be the same tried with a blend

Baking soda might be worth grabbing too

Buying a whisk tomorrow and some baking soda. Or probably might as well buy a blender.

I have Trutein, Animal Whey, and VPX SRO. Which one would make a better choice Chef Bob?

Animal whey if it is a video using COR

Trutein may work better for a Select recipe but I know Bob is not a fan

(I know I'm not Bob but I am his apprentice lol)

When I use VPX SRO I usually add some extra ingredients to give it more volume (pb powder, casein, extra egg whites) or else it's hard to flip.

Thanks Driven. Brother, you never got back to me with that Orbit Nutrition issue. :(

Yes. He was using Cor Whey on his video. I'll make one tomorrow since I'm on a high-carb.

Oh. So Casein makes it taste better? Seems like you have to use more when using an isolate.

What ingredient makes the pancake fluffy, full, and moist? My grandmother makes very delicious pancakes. And I regret I never asked her. She mixes it with fruits(either pineapple or banana) and it's incredibly most and full. No air bubbles or anything(mine has like 20% air bubbles).

My bad PM coming

Not necessarily taste, but casein will give it some volume if your trying to go low carb, but not required.

If you want fluffy you'll have to add in some carbs, Bob's vids should serve you well.

Baking Powder >> Soda
A basic whey is best for baking and rising agents
Casein is best for binding agents (cheesecake, rice pudding, bread pudding) not rising agents like pancakes, muffins etc.
Not a fan of trutein i would throw it in the trash
Owner sent to jail twice, and they have had mulitple QC issues with Rocks and O-Rings found in their product. NO thanks.

Rocks = Fiber
O-Ring = ahhhh sorry can't think of any positive aspects of O-Rings

Oh. So that's the story. People always say 'No thanks jeff. After all that's happened to the company, wouldn't even buy their protein.'

I'll probably order Cor Whey just for baking. I've tried 4 5lbs of Cor Whey, and sadly I just don't like it on water. Sometimes it's too think. The only flavor I enjoyed on water was Chocolate Mint. That was really really good. It has a very refreshing feel to it.

^ why mix with water?

Almond milk is 5x better for 30 cals/cup

You've really never used milk in your shakes?

I always mix my shakes with water. I make a couple of them, and let them sit in the fridge - after an hour or so they always taste great.

- When I make ice cream though I tend to use skim milk or almond; but will give coconut a go.

I find coconut comes out better with ice cream, creamier

I always use water also !

I use water on my way out of the gym for my quick shake.. Any others (early am or late pm) I use whole whipping cream, almond milk, or cashew milk. I need to try coconut

Prefer milk myself

Dont use milk or water, mix in yogurt and make sludge or mix in a baking recipe = Winning.

i gotta pick up some greek yogurt and go to town on my Celluor s'mores. i bet the new MTS would make a great yogurt sludge.

^ Holy hngg. I sent you an email about this. But might as well just ask here.

How much yogurt/protein powder are you using Chef Bob? Your recipes make dieting so fun.

Use as much as you want man. I usually do 6oz whatever comes in 6oz little container you can buy.
Use as much protein as you want i usually never go over 1 scoop total in a day. i am a whole food guy.

Agree. If one does not like to bake or cook with whey, plain greek yogurt is the best way to have a basic "shake" can add so much to it and really brings out the taste of the powder.

Chef Bob, I was just watching Masterchef this morning. Can you make a recipe for a no-cook cheesecake? I don't have an oven and I really want to make a macro-friendly cheesecake.
