Conference Play and my Upset Picks

Looks like Binge was wrong on UVa-UNC.

Haha. UVa. What a joke.

Dog fight in Tuscaloosa right now. Same in Austin.

I really don't feel like picking this week, but here's a few:

Virginia over NC
GA Tech over Miami
Purdue over Wiscy
Tennessee over Bama
TCU over Air Force, but who cares

No picks against USC this week? :D

Only a few this week. A few people seem to be confused by the term "stupid upset picks," so I won't go as far out on a limb anymore.
Purdue over PSU, I don't know why I pick this upset in Happy Valley, but anything can happen in the Big 10
Stanford over UCLA, it's at Stanford and UCLA, IMO, is overrated, but if they are as good as the media thinks then it's one of the last few shots left of knocking off USC. So I'm kind of torn by UCLA. Maybe I just really dislike the PAC 10 these days.

I could pick NW over scUM, but scUM has been pulling W's out of their asses lately, and I refuse to believe that Northwestern has progressed from occasional spoiler to legit contender.
I think Georgia loses to Florida at Florida, especially with Shockley out.
OSU at Minni should be a good game. A great running team versus the best D against the run, but we all know how this one ends

I think Tenn can beat ND tomorrow. They beat LSU at LSU and ND has lost at home twice already.

The other big game is Miami at VT. VT is at -6 1/2, but I give them 9 at home.

I'm Also going with:
Arizona at home over UCLA
Missouri over Colorado
Cal over Oregon
aTm over Texas Tech

And please give me Wiscy+11 at PSU. If PSU covers, I'll be shocked.

I haven't been watching any football today, and I really don't know the outcome but I was going to write that LSU beat themselves in their game against Tennessee and that the Vols won't beat the Irish at home.

VT over Miami by more than 6.5, the Hokies are too good in all phases to lose at home, it'll be interesting to see if Moss can run the gaps on that D, and Wright has to have his best game to keep Miami in it.

Just turned on ESPN, Chuck Amato beat Bowden, again. WTF is up with Amato's voice?, sounds sickly.

Time to go, VT and Miami's starting.

Hi Rogue. Hi Binge.

The Canes are 5-0 when underdogs in the Coker era.

I guess that Hokie D ain't the best in the country, now is it?

This just in - Vick just fumbled again!:nutkick:

I'm not a big Miami guy except for their pipeline to the Browns, and I hate that the VT loss could ruin another chance to smack the BCS in the mouth, but that was an amazing game by Miami. Their D looked fast from the little of the game I saw because of work and watching the TUF finals.

Missouri, Wiscy, and aTm laid turds, Tenn played one quarter of football (the third), and Arizona completely used UCLA (my only win this week). I've been getting 3/5 pretty consistently as far as my upsets go. I am glad NC St. and Joe Pesci beat FSU. I like Chuck, but he only knows how to call D and his teams are notoriously undisciplined.

Your pics for this week in NCAA football(11-12-05)

Georgia over Auburn 17-14. LSU over Alabama 34-20. Georgia will move to 5th or 6th. Alabama will drop to about 8.

Oh Atlanta Falcons over Greenbay 34-21. Dunn , Finneran and Vick are your fantasy choices in that game.

This is what I NEED to happen

Auburn 21, GA 17
Gators 24, S. Carolina 13

Gators vs. Bama rematch for SEC title

i love that dancing guy!

i cant believe im reading this!! lol you were one of vick's main haters on this board! dont worry, everybody will come around eventually :clap2:

my upsets are northwestern over osu in the shoe, game cocks over the gators (spurrier is riding a hot team and who better to beat the gators?) and clemson over florida state just cause i wanted to make another pick.

NW may be a spoiler team, but in The Shoe, on senior day, with no D against an on a roll O? Don't think so. A month ago I would have told you this game was scaring the crap out of me, but not anymore. Ask Wisconsin how the exact same scenario went for them last week.

i agree nw has no defense, well at least one that keeps the stats pretty. but they are opportunistic and you cant deny that offense is ridiculous. but just like i said, it's an upset pick. not too many are expecting nw to walk into the shoe with all the conditions you say and have them walk away with a w. but after what they did to iowa last week i just got a hunch. about wisconsin, they are a great team but are obviously run first oriented and penn states lb's are too fast for what they try to do. shut down the run against the badgers and they have a problem even tho stocco has become much better than i ever anticipated from watching him in the past.

Bowden Bowl at Clemson. FSU favored by 1 1/2 last I heard. I think Bobby's only lost this game once? Not gonna touch this game.

This is a strange week overall. The spreads this week are either huge or small. OSU is getting 18 at home against NW. I don't know, I think it'll be more like 10 knowing Tressel and his uncanny ability to keep good teams close, no matter what they've done the past 3 games considering 2 of those were the powerhouses of Indi and Illini.

My WTF picks are Rutgers over Louisville, and Oklahoma State over Texas Tech.

Wisconsin got exploited and used last week. I say they keep the trend against Iowa this week. Same goes with ASU over UCLA.

My "if there is a God" pick is Cal over USC

Oh, and Bama's run comes to a halt due to crappy O against LSU. Shockley is back in Georgia and they beat Auburn.

OSU by +18 over NU at home, I"d bet that. I know what you mean about maddening conservative Tressel/Lloydball but Basanez will be under constant heavy pressure, he'll never hit his rythym to burn the Buckeye secondary and your O will carve up that weak D.

The same thing will happen against UM. Chad Henne will get flushed from the pocket and be throwing balls into the stands, he can't handle pressure, but THE game is barely predicatable.

It's too bad the Bucks can't rematch with the Lions, I'd bet Scarlet and Grey and will schizo Sparty play to their potential and piss on Joe Pa's year?, a definite possibility.

Wisky and the Hawks,Who knows, could go either way, can't call that one.

Georgia -Auburn should be a good one, well matched there, I agree on the Bulldogs with Shockley at 90%, and LSU in a tight one over Alabama, LSU's D-line and Addai's running will grind it out in the last quarter.

2 pointless games no one cares about; 1 an upset, the other is not:
Nevada covers against New Mexico State
Ball State wins out right(at +6) on the road against Eastern Michigan.

Enjoy and I hope I am right :)

Remember, Bama has had no trouble moving the football up and down the field. They have A LOT of problems in the redzone; which is what matters of course.

I've seen almost every single game; every one of them that was televised (cept the few PPVS that were against unranked non-conference teams). Ever since Prothro was hurt, they havent been doing well in the red zone against good defenses. They DO have the talent, however. If you've watched the games, you'll understand... against both Tennessee, Ole Miss and MS State they moved the ball at will pretty much throughout the game, they just couldnt make the score; either due to turnovers like in the MS State game; or stalled offense due to bad passing plays.

Predictions? Shula fixes the redzone problems just enough to eek out a win by 7pts... 17-10 Bama. LSU doesnt have the defensive talent that Bama does. They barely beat florida, they barely beat Auburn, and they LOST to Tennessee

Georgia over Auburn IF Shockley is healthy (I mean if he's playing like his old self)... Auburn winning if not; both options will be close < 10 pts

And I'm going with the upset pick; South Carolina over Fla :) Just barely

I hope you played them b/c both cashed. :clap2:

Went down just how I picked em for the SEC. S.C., LSU, and Auburn all pulling off upsets. Go Tigers! (Im from Louisiana)They should have had the game won without going into overtime. Their kicker can punt like no other, but cannot kick a field goal for ****.

Sorry, wasnt going by Vegas, just by ranking and LSU having a loss while Bama was undefeated and most importantly playing in Bama. So OK, technically it wasnt an upset.

The Iron Bowl should be, as always, interesting. Auburn won't jam up the Bama offense as much as LSU did, if the Tide receivers can stop dropping the ball they might, maybe, give the better than LSU offense a game of it.

The Auburn D is fast. Bama will have to screen and slant for fast hits underneath and predominately run the guard gaps to slow down the game and keep the Auburn O in the clutches of the Bama D as much as possible.

There is a funny stat I saw on MSU. Not sure on the exacts, but it was something like they are 10-1 against top ten teams over the past 8 years. They are playing at home, need a win to be bowl elligible, and want to smash PSU's dreams. I give it to Drew Stanton and Sparty to silence the Lions. Not to mention PSU has already jinxed themselves with this little number right here: Invalid Link Removed

Fresno State could beat USC. They need to win the turnover battle, something that is hard to do against USC, and they need to play the best games of their lives. At worst they beat the +24 spread.

That's my picks for now. I'm tired and hungry and too focused on The Game.
