Gators don't translate all that well into the NFL.

Next.

Oh boy.....

Mark my words J......tebow and harvin will be top NFL prospects, and will thrive in the league in due time. They are unique in every sense of the word, and full of raw talent that will translate into success in the end. Good coaching is needed as well, but these kids will be laying the hurt on teams in the future.

You can put a stamp on that.

Looks like Turner Gill's boys are putting an end to Ball State's perfect season tonight. Sweet.

Trauma, it appears the SEC runner-up will be playing in the Sugar Bowl against Utah. That's a nice consolation prize for either team... busting up the BCS buster. Gotta say though... it would be better if Urban Meyer is involved with that. Then again, I may be biased.:p

Yes, you are right! Harvin and Tebow are top notch imo and the Gators are about to get a couple more titles added to their collection :bb3:

The ESPN ticker said unlikely to play per Turban.

I have a hard time believing that. We heard all that stuff heading up to the Miami game and he played anyway.

Will have to see come kickoff.

He'll play. And if he doesn't... it's not like they lack other players with speed. I don't know why there's been such a big deal made about it. Last I checked, Tebow's still playing.

First and foremost, congratulations to the Florida Gators and their fans. They were the better team today, and they deserve this championship. I will certainly pull for them in the BCS Championship. You have a special player at QB. Well done.

I will say this: I hope you Florida fans can learn a lesson in humility through this season and through this specific victory by your team. This was not the blowout you all predicted. Your QB willed his team to victory today… through HEART… not just talent. You all better pray that he comes back next season.

I’m not at all disappointed with the Tide. They overachieved big-time this season… and they gave the Gators all they could handle today for 3.5 quarters. They were simply outgunned at the end. I doubt any Gator fan would want them to play best 3 out of 5, but the Gators won outright. I love the Crimson Tide, and I always will. There is no shame in this effort. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year, and they have made tremendous strides in getting back to championship form. They will win an SEC title soon… bet on it.

For now, this is Florida's time... and I congratulate them on a championship performance.

Go Gators. Roll Tide... Always.

SEC FTW!!!

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD.....jk. great game though..alabama esp. in first half looked hungry..great d too.

Congrats to the Gators...i haven't been in this thread forever

YYYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!

Damn, what a freakin' game! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Everything i expected it to be, great game by both teams.

Tebow did come through as the x-factor after all. The kid is simply amazing when put at the helm. Florida really stepped it up in the 4th quarter, and pulled out a nice win. To accomplish this feat without harvin was very nice, but it's always nice to have a tebow on your team as well. :p

Great game rubbering, the SEC delivered one hell of a game. Florida's defense played very well in the 4th quarter, and in the end it was the difference. Bama played them tough, and they are a fine team. It's commendable what they accomplished this year.

How about florida goes for it on 4th down and 5 to score a TD. Amazing stuff! I want to see this florida team become the national champions. What a culmination of accomplishments it would be for this young and talented gator team.

I think tebow may have improved his standing in the heisman race today as well. :D

GO GATORS BABY!!!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!

:djparty:

Well - congrats to the Gators. Impressed with what Tebow did without Harvin last night. Kid is a winner.
I'll leave my next level thoughts out - inappropriate to the discussion.

By the time he leaves next year - he'll go down as one of the best ever in CFB.

Going to throw up.

BTW - rooting for Texas to stay #2 in the BCS. :hammer:

Not gonna happen. An extra game and a win over the #1-ranked team will evaporate the 0.372 lead Texas held over Florida.

I will be quite annoyed if Bama drops lower than #4. There's no way USC or Utah should be ranked ahead of them. Not that it really matters... but it's just the principle of it. Oh wait... the BCS has no principles.

I'm trying to get excited about the Sugar Bowl. Beyond Utah, it looks like Ohio State has an outside shot at going to New Orleans.

Btw jmh80, the ACC was probably wishing your Canes had made it to the championship game yesterday. The conference said they distributed 54,000 tickets for the game, but there were like 30,000 people in the stands. Empty seats galore. Tampa's a bad location for that game if FSU or Miami isn't playing.

AP Poll
1.Florida
2.Oklahoma
3.Texas
4.Alabama
5.USC

Coaches Poll (BCS)
1.Oklahoma
2.Florida
3.Texas
4T.Alabama (12 wins and 1 loss... to #2 Florida)
4T.USC (11 wins and 1 loss... to unranked Oregon St.)

Yeah - has to be either FLA team to even have a chance. But then again attendance wasn't good last year when FSU was in it against VaTech.

I don't think they've settled on a long term place for the championship. I know Charlotte was in contention. I'd imagine they have it there in the near future. But also TB and Jax.

Thing is the conference is so spread out that it's hard to pick something in the middle that is a big city. SEC is set up better in terms of where the schools are relative to ATL. Even BR is a 8 hr drive to ATL for LSU - furthest west.

For the ACC anything for Miami is a long ass drive outside of Tampa. And BC is F'ed being all the way up there.

It just looked bad on the conference yesterday. Eh oh well. People won't pay much attention unless it's FSU or Miami anyway. There are NO other teams in the conference that have a national following.
I don't care what anyone else says.

Yeah I knew it was an outside chance. The Gates would have had to been 3rd in the polls.
Now they are a close 2nd in the coaches. I expect it to be similar in the Harris.

Done deal - UF vs. OU.

Will the Sooners finally show up in a championship game? Dunno. But they have a much better QB than Jason White, Heupel, and those other guys they've had the last 10 years.

Official Rubber - Cal vs. Miami in the Emerald Nut Bowl (no homo) in San Fran.

If it weren't so close to Xmas - I'd come out to it. Are you gonna go to it since you are a sorta Cal guy?

Yep, I'll be there! I was just sending out some feeler (no homo) emails to some buds who said they were interested. It would be super-cool if you could make it... 'cause it kinda sucks being the only one in the group who's really into college ball.

Should be a great matchup, especially now that Best is healthy. He ran for over 300 yesterday... but it was against winless Washington. The QBs are mistake-prone though. Cal finished undefeated at home this year.

Yeah I looked closer at their sched. and saw all 4 losses were on the road. And this really is a home game for them.

Best will be tough - he's a good back. We played well against a few RB's but terrible against GT and the NCSt QB. I don't think Riley or Longshore can run, which is good as we aren't good at mobile QB's.

I'll see. Would be awesome to see a game at the Giants stadium. And talk football with ya.
I need to see what Cane buddies of mine are going to go. Who knows - maybe I'll make it out there. Always wanted to go further west than Houston. LOL

LOL! Cool man, let me know what you decide. I'll be on Christmas break (teacher), so I'll have plenty of time to hang out. My old lady works for a hotel in the Fremont area, so I'm sure she can hook you and your buds up with a good rate. We can take BART (subway) to the game from Fremont. I would imagine hotels in the SF area will be ridiculously expensive, unless you stay in a shady area. There's a ton of stuff to do and see in the Bay Area as well.

Hell, I'll even help you pull for the Canes!

jmh, I hope you have some frequent flyer miles to use though, or airfare is gonna be expensive. I was thinking about going to the Sugar Bowl... but I refuse to put out $800 to fly to New Orleans.

Just got back a few hours ago. I had a great time in Atlanta. A few things to note :

I was very impressed with the Alabama fanbase that showed up. Both sides were respectful, seeing as how we aren't rivals, and following the game I had plenty of good conversations with Bama fans at our hotel. It's clear the Bama program is back, and I fully expect them to be back in Atlanta in the years to come.

The Alabama defense is tough. Wow. They schemed hard against our run and quite frankly, I didn't expect them to stop our run like they did. I wish Moody would have gotten more carries early as he's, IMO, our toughest RB between the tackles.

Tebow is Tebow. Nothing much else to say that hasn't already been said. What I was surprised to see was WHO stepped up at WR. I would have never guessed all 3 WR touchdowns would have gone to Nelson (big time recruit from Texas that never panned out), Moore (JUCO transfer), and Cooper (will be playing MLB soon enough).

I got some great pics I'll post up later...including one of me with Erin Andrews.

I'm SO jealous you went bro, but glad to hear that you had a good time. I was impressed with bama as well. They played florida tough all game. The game lived up to its expectations in every way.

I'm seriously thinking about the championship game now. It's only a 3.5 hour drive from tampa, so going down there is a very real possibility.

My brother works for Delta in Gainesville. He can get buddy passes for $250 - thing is you have to fly standby. I have no idea if they fly into San Fran.

Opening odds:

FSU 5 over Wisconsin
Georgia Tech 3.5 over LSU
Cal 6.5 over Miami
Texas Tech 6 over Ole Miss
USC 10.5 over Penn St.
Texas 10 over Ohio St.
Alabama 10.5 over Utah
Florida 3.5 over Oklahoma

SEC Awards... for my SEC peeps

"Alabama's Nick Saban is the 2008 SEC coach of the year, and Tide receiver Julio Jones is 2008 SEC freshman of the year, according to the Associated Press' all-SEC media vote released today.

Six Crimson Tide players were named first-team all-SEC: Tailback Glen Coffee, left tackle Andre Smith, center Antoine Caldwell, nose tackle Terrence Cody, linebacker Rolando McClain and safety Rashad Johnson. Smith and Johnson were unanimous inclusions.

Jones, left guard Mike Johnson and Javier Arenas (as a cornerback) were second-team all-SEC.

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was the SEC offensive player of the year, while Tennessee safety Eric Berry was SEC defensive player of the year."

Cal 6.5 over Miami
Texas Tech 6 over Ole Miss
USC 10.5 over Penn St.
Texas 10 over Ohio St.

Florida 3.5 over Oklahoma

go figure..the big 10 are all underdogs....GO PENN STATE!!!

Might have something to do with the fact that they're routinely beaten like rented mules.

;)

Many :lol:s!

I didn't even mention:

Missouri 13.5 over Northwestern
Kansas 10.5 over Minnesota
Georgia 7.5 over Mich. State

But there's hope... from plenny's favorite:

Iowa 3.5 over South Carolina

Just wanted to say...Go Gators!!!!!

Cheers!

a few of you might enjoy this:
I went to oklahoma city over the weekend, to see some friends. Sunday night before we left, I decided to be a bit antagonistic at the bar we were in. And started doing that damned "gator chomp"
No one said anything, but I did mysteriously get over charged on my drinks:think:

In case ya'll didnt know OKC in 20 mins from Norman, lol

They'll soon enough get a taste of the gator chomp alright!

What it be, Gt?

Been working on biz stuff and hanging out with the boys meeting the girls. I need to update my Axcite log, in regards to that.

On a different note, have you tried the Clearshot, or Strange Extasy betas yet?

I should have it anyday now. :)

Not sure if the rest of you saw, but Dan Mullen (Gator's Offensive Coordinator) took the Mississippi State job. It's unclear at this point whether he will be coaching in the BCS National Championship game or not.

At first, I was worried. Huge distraction? Seems like it, especially with talks of Charlie Strong getting calls about head coaching jobs. I guess it was better that it happened now then 2 weeks from now. I have confidence in Meyer and the staff and I think Billy Gonzales will step into Mullen's place and do just fine. Tebow has been running this offense for 2 years now so it's in good hands.

Im new to this forum. I am a Texas Longhorns fan since birth.

I would like to say screw you sooners, you land, conference game, and heisman stealing "people."

Yeah, Texas certainly got hosed. But hey, look on the bright side... your QB and your O-line will be back with a vengeance next year. With a little better play at defense, the 'Horns should take the Big 12 (again) next year.

Just enjoy what the Gators do to Oklahoma in a few weeks, when the Sooners see a real defense... not that Swiss cheese you guys have in the Big 12.

Hook 'em, SEC!

Werd!

We're going to CHOMP the sooners all night long! It will be good to know that Harvin and Rainey will be ready to play. From what i hear, Cornellius Ingram may make an apperance as well. Only adding fuel to the machine, haha!

GO SEC!

Oh, and I actually feel a tad sorry for Utah. They have no idea what they're in for when they get to the Superdome. Absolutely no idea.:whip:
