Texas should be in the Big 12 title game. Im tired of hearing about Oklahoma and how they have been blowing out opponents and all that style points bull crap! Yeah Texas lost to Tech but it was on the last play and Texas should have had that interception at the end which would have sealed the deal. Texas beat Oklahoma on a neutral field which means Texas is the better team.

THe BCS is a bunch of crap to. Style points should not matter in any game. Mack Brown didn't run up the score as much as he could have against A&M because he thought it would be disrespctful against them and the rivalry. Texas has been ahead of Oklahoma since they beat them and now when they both win Texas moves down a spot WTF!! I hope Oklahoma gets slaughtered in the Big 12 Championship. Even if Texas doesn't go to the National Title game if Missouri wins i would still be glad that Oklahoma lost which would mean that Texas should have been there in the first place. And how can you keep Texas out when they beat both Oklahoma and Missouri. Not fair!!

Texas vs. Florida in the National Title game would be a classic.

GO TEXAS!!!

If Arenas can put us in good field position, then bama just really has a great advantage. Our special teams are superb. But, FL special teams are solid also .... If it comes down to us settling for field goals then we are toast as tiffin is trash!

SEC Championship tickets in hand!

Alright Rubbering...it's that time. What you got for game analysis, trash talking and/or score prediction?

Every SECCG Bama has played in has been against UF. This will be the sixth time that the two teams have met in the SECCG (UF won in 1993, 1994, 1996; UA won in 1992, 1999). UF is 6-2 in SEC championship games.

I think the matchup that decides the game is the Bama offense vs. UF defense. If Bama can get a huge push with their sizable OL and have success w/ the run, UF is in trouble. If not, we win going away. The two rushing offenses are equally productive, but Florida has an edge in passing offense. Alabama has an edge in overall defense, particularly against the run.

Thoughts?

I got UF 38-17

Lucky you!!! Enjoy it, brutha!

I pretty much agree with your analysis. Bama's ability to control the clock is key. Their offensive attack can be pretty predictable... but Florida still has to stop them... and vice versa. One player to look out for on the defensive side of the ball for Bama is Rashad Johnson. He's taken a few picks back to the house this season, and he really knows how to bait a QB. We both know about Florida's weapons.

I said it all in post #1184... I'm not gonna talk any smack because it would really be insincere. I respect what Florida's done this year, and I think they owe Ole Miss a debt of gratitude for saving their season. They're a solid team on both sides of the ball, and they have a great leader at QB. They're playing lights out right now.

That being said, every time I hear that Bama doesn't stand a chance (Miami in '93, Clemson and Georgia this year), the Tide rises to the occasion.

I do disagree with your projected score. I think it will be much closer. Win or lose, I suspect the Gators might not cover the spread.

It all started this year against Clemson in the Georgia Dome...

Alabama-30 Florida-27

Uh-oh... Kiffin's already looking like a dimwit. Gotta love Spurrier though!

He also thinks he's Jim Tressel. Kiffin told reporters "It's going to be fun hearing 'Rocky Top' after we beat Florida next year.":toofunny:

Lol! It will be fun watching meyer's gators wipe their azz with tennessee next year........AGAIN!

Sorry 'Gator fans, but you have been the thorn in our side for almost every year of the past two decades.

Roll Effing Tide.

I truly believe it's florida's defense/special teams that will be the deciding factor in the game, imo. Florida's secondary is playing really well right now (Jenkins and Black are on fire), and to me will be a major factor down the stretch. If florida can make the tide one dimensional, they'll have a big advantage in the game. Bama has a solid running game though, so it's no easy task regardless. I have all the respect in the world for bama, they played good ball all season long.

I do believe percy harvin will play, and will make a big difference in doing so. Just his presence on the field whether as a weapon, or a decoy is a priceless tool in your offensive game plan, as well as morale.

I think it will be close early on, but florida's offense opens up the spread in the second half to take command. This is going to be a game we'll be talking about for a long time afterwards...

My prediction is Florida: 42 - Alabama: 24

Damn you, tony!! :D

What the hell happend to UGA this past weekend? GT had one hell of a second half though, i'll give them that.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOD! Do you understand the pollsters are what made this so close? They are the ONLY ones in the BCS formula capable of style points.

OU MOVED AHEAD BECAUSE OF THE COMPUTERS!!! Which do NOT have victory margin factored in (well - supposedly).

It didn't matter if you beat the Aggs 80000 to zip. Your OOC schedule sucked balls and they got a win on the road to OkState.

Again - it was the computers. There is no human element to that. You guys benefited from people taking head to head into account and moved UP in the polls from last week.

I wish you other UT people would get that through your heads and quit crying about style points.

Cry about the f*cking BCS or the computers. Don't cry about style points and head to head.

Yes I hate HATE the Gators and Turban Meyer.

But as a neutral observer - agree 100% with most of what Rubber says. The Tide do NOT turn it over and FLA has feasted on that in their big wins (see UGa, USC, LSU).
The Tide wins the time of possession battle - period.
They have THE best set of lines that the Gators will see this year. Previously on the DL it was a tie (IMO) between Ole Miss and FSU. Though I didn't think Everrett Brown and the Noles played as well as they could. Anyway.

I think this game is won in the trenches. I give a big edge to the Tide. They have THE best OL in the country - Andre Smith. Top 10 pick if he comes out this year.
They have the maneater Cody at DT and a DL that covers their lanes and doesn't gamble a whole lot - KEY to defending against Tebow, IMO.

Then you factor in the fact that EVERYONE has penciled the Gates in to the Championship at Miami. Hell Herbstreit has been blowing Turban this whole year. Corso puts the Al the Gator head on, for sure.

That gives Satan extra stuff to pump his kids up with.

I'd also second that the Gators won't cover. The Bama O is too efficient, I think. I don't forsee a John Parker Wilson debacle of a game. The running game is too good for him to have to be relied on.
Thus I think the Tide keep it within a TD.

Right now as I've analyzed it I think it will be VERY close. I'm not sure which special teams I like better. I've watched more of the Gators - really like their return game. I'm not sold on their kicker.
I'm nearly completely unsure on Bama. Will have to look more.

I'll hold off on my prediction thus yet. But I do not see a blowout. That won't happen with the Hall of Fame Bama OL.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to jmh80 again.

Wanted to rep you for mentioning Andre and the Bama OL. Win or lose, their performance this year cannot be overlooked.

Sometimes your gator-hate just runs rampant, eh? ;)

The gators don't turn the ball over either j, just look at the numbers. As a team they can score on you and beat you in many different ways. So can bama.

Corso definitely sports an albert the gator hat for sure! :D

Herbstreit sucks on Ohio State's nuts all the time, so i don't mind seeing some gator love.

It's going to be a great game, but i still believe that if either team becomes one dimensional in any phase of their game, it's over.

I'll tell you why some many defensive lines have trouble with rainey and demps.....they're small, quick, and pop out from behind the O-line before the DT's/LB's pick them up visually. That advantage coupled with insane dexterity will always present a problem.

Tebow and harvin are the X-factor imo......

Tebow and harvin are the X-factor imo......

Maybe.
I think this is analogous to the '06 Fiesta - when you guys dominated both lines of scrimmage which allowed the little guys to run wild.
Only I think it's Bama with that edge. (Perhaps not quite DL - yours is quite good.)

If they get that pash rush push they've gotten when they've been hungry - watch out. If they come out flat like they have against LSU and a bunch of other games - lights out, Gators win.

I think Satan will have them super hungry. I think they'll come out like gangbusters.
That should negate some of the Gator speed advantage.

Look forward to watching. I have a company Xmas party at 7pm so I'll be catching the Big 12 title game via ESPN MVP (on my cell).

I'm sad though - last week of football for about 3 weeks.
Oh well.

Can't wait for '09 to see what it holds for my young Canes. (Hope Sam Bradford goes pro - we play them at Miami 2nd game of the season. Might have a chance if he's gone.)

The left side may be the best ever in CFB when they bring it. When they just play - they are top 5 or 10 ever.

Those dudes are awesome. Smith will be an HOF if he can stay healthy, IMO. I knew that kid was special watching his tapes in high school. Shula did recruit well for y'all....

If the tide does not come out flat
Controls the special team game
and does not turn the ball over

Bama wins

If any of the aforementioned happens the opposite way

It's going to be a long day for the tide.

I don't think Tebow's running will be a factor. If he does, it'll be minimal. Florida's two speed guys on offense are going to be the factor for them, my opinion on the defenses is that they are pretty equal with the exception of our D'line, especially big C. It takes 2 guys to hold him, that always leaves lanes open str8 to the QB.

Irregardless if the Gators win, I hope they smoke whomever get's in the BCS championship game especially if it's OU.

Tebow is no ordinary QB though. The kid is built and runs like a fullback. :)

This game will be legendary...

I agree if bama walks away the champ as well.

Fukc OU, i hope the SEC pounds their azz in the ground!

Yeah, i've heard that the guy is pretty solid in terms of dead lifts, squats and bench...and, from what i've seen of him the past couple of years, he's definitely a tough SOB on the field.

Hey Trauma, call it a hunch, but... I'm feelin' Mizzou for some reason. I don't know... just seems like something crazy always happens this time of year. I kinda get the feeling Texas might get some justice after all. I know McCoy and Daniel are good friends. Hmmm...

Thing about OU is yeah they've blown the lot of big games since the '01 Orange. Eventually they'll play someone that (A) has an off game or (B) gets a star player injured and will thusly win.

Only a matter of time if they keep going back to the well that they'll actually remove water.

Any Clemson fans here? It looks like Clemson will take on my Huskers in the Gator Bowl. I heard you guys have done well since canning Bowden. It should be a good match up, and Bo Pelini has had a great first year with a Husker team returning alot of players from a 5-7 record, and going 8-4 with an overtime loss to Texas Tech. I was really hoping to play FSU, and get revenge for the Huskers getting screwed in the 93 Orange Bowl.

WOW... Tubberville's out at Auburn... and they're reaching out to Mike Leach. I don't like Tubbs at all, but his record and his 82% winning percentage before this season speak for themselves. Saban wasn't happy about the news and was visibly angered. He was quoted as saying, "Well, I guess we're a 5-7 season away from that ourselves."

The grass is always greener on the other side for Auburn. If they think Leach is their savior, they're in for a big surprise imho. Fine with me though... Bama will go on a 6-year Iron Bowl streak of their own!

that's what I told myself before OSU played usc :aargh:

I feel it too. I really think mizzou can pull it off if daniel hits his stride early. I'm so freakin' sick of hearing about OU, i hope missou pounds their ass in the ground! :D

I don't think so - at least not in the last few years. We had a Clemson guy in '05 I remember.
My co-worker is a mechanical engineer from Clemson.

It's confirmed them to the Gator? I was hearing FSU.
Hmm. Should be an interesting game.

That dude was as big game as they come. As Turban Meyer about last year's Auburn game.

Damn retarded Bobby Louder (or however it's spelled) is what I've heard from the Auburn people I work with. He's wanted Tubbs head for a while, I guess. I think may have been behind the Petrino debacle in '03 I think.

Anyway - damn boosters in the state of AL are OUT OF CONTROL! Yes that includes the illustrious buying of Albert Means by the Tide.

Auburn will come to regret this.

I'd take Tubbs at Miami in a muthafuc*in' heartbeat. He was the DC under Jimmy Johnson 22 years ago.

It's not going to happen. Chase ( booger eater) Daniel is a self absorbed person, who when he was out of the Hiesman race started playing sub-par football. Not to mention the fact that their defense sucks, Bradford will have a field day against them. But chase does have some weapons in maclin and Coffman, but the only way they win is in a shootout. OU defense has been playing much better as of late, although they do have a couple of key injurys right now. I want the North to beat a good south team, but I just can't root on Booger boy.

I can. Never say never.

OU's defense is certainly nothing to brag about by any stretch of the imagination either.

/Fukc OU, Go mizzou!

Whose defense in the Big 12 doesn't suck?

Oh, and a shootout is so unheard of in that conference.

OU defense has been playing much better as of late...

Really... better, huh? You're absolutely right. The 41 points they gave up to Oklahoma State was just an awe-inspiring defensive effort. Truly a championship performance.

The Big 12 is starting to make me sick.

Thanks buddy, i was too lazy tonight to break it down.

On second thought, i'd like to see OU win so they can be dismantled by the SEC's best. It would be fun seeing bradford's mediocrity in having to face a solid defense.

Defense wins championships, it will be no different this year...

I'm a Big 12 guy, but I would love to see Bradford on his ass for the first time this season. But OU's O-Line is really good, and with their hurry-up no huddle offense, it would be hard even for an SEC team to get to him. But if a team can at least get pressure on him you have a chance.

Yeah bunch of ugly dudes on the front page. Them Gators need to hit the gym - fatties.

lol @ ugly dudes. What would you consider a bunch of good looking dudes? Nevermind don't answer that...lol. :trout:

Back to sports...

For those in the Atlanta area, the Hawks host the Knicks Friday night. Al Horford made a deal with the Hawks for the Gator fans coming into town for the SEC Championship to get 50% off on basketball tickets (anyone can just go up to the ticket office and ask for the "Horford deal").

I thought that was pretty cool. Just thought I'd pass that along. I know there's a few people here in or around Atlanta.

Have a great time at the game brother, and GO GATORS!!!!

Oh, come now, boosters? who dat??

I've heard it so much this year...jones has a benz with 22 inch rims on it....ingram's has chicks being run up to his room at mid night...

We'll just let the rumors rest for the next couple of years until it all comes out.

the Means thing had more to it than the media reported

Ha! If people are surprised by that or think that's out of line - they are idiots.
I lived IN the Tennessee athletic dorm. I lived next to Marcus Haislip (was in the NBA with the Bucks last I looked). That dude has some kinda women up there.

I got to know Jason Whitten well my sophmore year - he was a junior. Great guy. I never saw him with anyone other than his girl.

Most of the players that were, well, players were open about girls and bringing them in whenever.

You ain't seen the threads I've started on the FemMisc at BB.com then, eh? They told ME I was good looking when I got my hair cut short this summer.

I know we're going to get hit with some regulations sooner or later. I seen jones in a benz before the season even started...I said "A" benz, as i do not know if it was his, but the rumor mill has it that way.

Now, it's all over the rumor mill that we payed him to come here.

Also, we have people looking into some things concerning Terrance's reason to play here...

Ok T1...rub it in...I'll take my shots now...UF destroyed my Seminoles. Tim Tebow just can't be stopped...the man is F*cking amazing. Hell of an athlete. Hopefully my 49ers get lucky and get to draft him when he goes pro!

My FSU has fallen so far from greatness, but its all good though...I am a fan of all Florida teams for the most part...always have been since I was a kid for some reason.

Cheers!

NO NO NO NO!

What the hell we gonna do with him? Another Matt Jones?? We don't need a WR/H-back in San Fran, brah.

My FSU has fallen so far from greatness, but its all good though...I am a fan of all Florida teams for the most part...always have been since I was a kid for some reason.

Cheers!

Tebow still has a lot of work to do in his QB mechanics, so i hope he stays his 4th year to work on them. Mainly his release point, and improve the speed of his overall delivery.

I like florida teams in football as well....except UM that is.....haha, just a little dig jmh.

GO GATORS!

I agree...he needs work, but what college QB doesn't?

Secondly...I think he is the second coming of Steve Young...the only difference being that Tebow has a stronger arm, but Young was a much smarter and more accurate QB.

Well I was big on UM during Ken Dorsey's years...always been a fan of his. No UM has fallen far from greatness. Honestly, I think college football is lacking when the big 3 in Florida are not challenging for national championship honors (except for Florida this year).

I really enjoy college football overall, but I get more into it when UM, UF, and my FSU are at the top jocking for position.

NO NO NO NO!

What the hell we gonna do with him? Another Matt Jones?? We don't need a WR/H-back in San Fran, brah.

Um....lets see bud...We haven't had a QB since Garcia. I think Tebow would fit great in Mike Martz offensive scheme...its a spread offense and Tebow would thrive in a spread offense. Put another solid receiver along good old Ike Bruce and we would maybe get back to being 8-8 or better.

Lets face it...how the 49ers have fallen so far from being the most dominant football franchise (only team in NFL history to win 10 or more games for 20 consecutive seasons, not mention 5 Super Bowl titles...nuff said!) to being doormats is just sickening and sad.

In order to thrive in that offense, you're going to have to have a QB that has accuracy. My take on Tebow is that his accuracies is decent for college but not for a league where your reaction time must be 2x faster.

If he is in a spread offense then the defense has to account for his running ability as well...thus freeing up more space for receivers to get open. Tebow still needs work and certainly needs to refine his mechanics, but you can't deny raw talent and the will to win. He already has two X factors a lot of QB's don't have...leadership and charisma.

I think if Tebow was put under the wing of Mike Martz he would thrive and end up turning into a star...I'm not saying he is ever going to be pro bowl material, but hell no one knows at any given time which player is going to be the real deal or a real dud.

Anyway, I hope the kid is smart and stays one more year...he needs it.

Let's get this thread back on track. (I live in the Bay Area... so I hear way too much 49ers talk as it is.)

Big game is tomorrow!!! SEC, baby!!! Got my pizza coupons (cheat day) and beer (for celebration... or depression) all ready to go.

ROOOOOOLLLLLLLL TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE, ROOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!

Gators don't translate all that well into the NFL.
