You are partially correct, it basically prevents e2 from binding to certain receptors so they can't exert estrogenic effects and your body thinks you do not have any, hence it secrets more gnrh so you make more lh and get more test to aromatize. The problem is, it isn't really getting rid of your estrogen, the testosterone you are making is still aromatizing (the whole reason your body is making the testosterone), and it can at a high rate especially if your test is >1000 for a while. So you can have very high serum levels of e2, which can be a problem overtime, also the SERM (clomid) is not blocking the effects of e2 in all your tissues receptors, so this can be a problem. It is also the reason some people get rebound gyno.
Also tranquil, 4 weeks is not long for trt, that's like a PCT dose, did he switch you to test or did you just stop? If so I would get your levels tested again in a few months because they are unlikely to stay that high.(btw emotional lability, like in some cases being a raging a-hole, can be an estrogen side, but glad you didn't lose your job)
