Cissus - Still Underdosed :(

Just got my shipment of the newest batch of Cissus RX from Nutraplanet, and having read about the problems with the filling machine in the past, I tested them myself. Here the results from my scale, accurite to 0.1 grams, and calibrated today:

Bottle Claim:
1.6g Cissus Quadrangularis in two capsules. (800mg each)

Actual Measurements:
50 Caps of Cissus RX
Total Weight: 41.1 grams
Weight per Capsule: 0.822

That's with the weight of the capsules, a standerd 00 gelatin capsule (The size of these) weighs 124mg (Confirmation here: Invalid Link Removed)

So...

822mg - 124mg = 698mg of Cissus/Cap = 87.25% Label Claim

Have you tried to weigh just the gelatin caps?

One interesting observation is that if your scale is off by 100mg (which it might be if it is good to .1G) then the weight COULD be 922 which would essentially be right on target.

This being said, I know that they had trouble with this before...

Anyone else measure theirs?

Regards,
R

I haven't weighed just the caps, but they can't be MUCH less then standered ones.

And my scale can't be off 100mgs PER CAP, I weighed 50 at once so that would mean it would have to be 5 grams off. I guarantee that's not the case, it's a new high quality quite expensive scale...

I understand what he is saying, he is saying he weighed all the caps at once and the total weight was 41.1 grams, that means it could be 41grams or 41.2, not that big of a difference in the broad view of it.

My bottle claims 1200 mg per 2 capsules.

That could be the reason for the miscalculation. In an unrelated topic, I can honestly say I don't believe this to be the case just off of the cAMP I take alongside it reaction. I had that "too much green tea first thing in the morning" problem I may have mentioned before on this board. I was thinking, "eh, it can't be that bad if I take 3 instead of 2 as usual".

Boy, did I regret it this time.

Is your bottle from the latest batch? Did you buy direct from USPlabs, or from Nutra Planet? Mine says 1.6g per serving of 2 capsules...

Another question for USPlabs, my bottle doen't list any standardization on the lable, does it have the "specially extracted Keto-sterones?"

Direct from USPLabs straight from the latest batch. Yeah, I had to jump in as I only had one bottle of Cissus left.

One set of labels includes capsule weight and another does not. We had to change the labels to for FDA compliance and thats the reason for 2 conflicting labels.

Our high quality labels are in print.

both bottles I ordered have 1200 mg per 2 capsules - I weighed the caps and they came out to 41.1 g per 50 caps, or about 820 mg per cap.

820 mg-124 mg (capsule weight)= 696 mg cissus per capsule, or about 116% of what the label claims, and both bottles had 135 capsules in each bottle. USP Labs has always done me right on everything, and this is no exception. Keep up the good work!

in case you havent heard and if they still hold the same policy USP labs is known for filling their bottles to the top erring on the side of the customer as far as quoted contents. im i incorrect or is this still the trademark?

Okay, thanks for clearing the confusion.

I definitely have to agree with you on this one.

Yup they still do that. Every bottle ive ever gotten has been filled to the top. A trademark USPlabs prides themselves on! I think i may pick up some cissus, i havnt tried it yet but i think i just might!

The red caps that USPLabs uses are quite a bit thinner than traditional 00 caps. I have a scale with greater accuracy and the caps weigh 70-80mg but there's still powder residue left behind.

Something I have noticed from my scale (reads 1/10th gram increments), the lighter the object the less accurate the scale is.

Just ordered a milligram scale to replace it.
