Outside of my belief, bear in mind that this is a work email p, owned and operated by her company. She might not have a choice but to change it.

True but my arguement, as it would be muslims... Freedom of speech also im sure they get away with it more so... Which then aggrevates me. And think we should not be so passive?

In my opinion she should stand for what is right. Matt 5:11 below.

[h=3][/h]
[SUP]11[/SUP]Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Also Matt 11:6

[SUP]6[/SUP]And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Respect the company! She is representing the company, and needs to set the example of humility.

Although you also have Matt 5:39

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Still I say ask your pastor.

I'm not a christian, but I was raised with a jewish background.

One of the tennants of it is that you are supposed to take the law of the land over the law of god when your life (well-being) depends on it.

So applied to this situation, a rabbi would say to not even stress over it, change the email and keep your job, for that is way more imporatant than having the signature you want on your email (which is being provided by and therefore is representing the company that is writing her paychecks).

Also, freedom of speech does not apply to private instutituions (i.e. corporations and things they provide for their employees).

It is also a bit offensive and... even a bit hateful that you would state that a muslim would probably be treated differently without any hard evidence...

It offends me deeply and personally when people use the Lords name in vain, yet they do it again and again and no one seems to get into trouble.

Hmmm hateful? Your right, I do not know the outcome of a different situation that did not happen. I just always feel like christians get pushed around..... For example being politically correct by having to say happy holidays? im sry if you live in a country that was started with a "in God we trust".... We dont even have to stand to say the pledge in schools.... And before we used to have a christian flag to pledge to....

These types of questions can bring heated responses especially on a forum like this. It really isn't the best place for a Christian to be, there is a lot of stuff you need to "block out".

We are told that we are to obey those who rule over us. Remember our primary purpose in life is to be a withness for Christ. If this is done on company time and represents the companys image they have a right to ask her to change it. Being contentious could possibly ruin her future abilty to withness to this or other persons in the office.

I understand the pilgrims came here for religious freedom.

The Revolutionary War however, was about taxation without representation.

While most (if not all) the founding father's were religious (although this has been something debated many times), they also founded the country on the belief of Religious Freedom, and the separation of church and state. Also I firmly believe the "God" they were referring to was not necesarily the Christian God, but an all-inclusive representative "God" or "higher-power".

That being said, I think it is stupid that people have an issue saying the pledge of allegiance, or swearing to tell the truth in court.

I also think he wasn't telling you not to post this, but to understand that it will created heated responses, some of which might not have any ability to "back it up" with anything other than raw emotion. Also that there are things discussed here that have no place in a "good christian's" life.

Yes but that scripture is not meant to obey people in the secular world...It is talking about the church...Hebrews 13:17

[SUP]17[/SUP]Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

In other words your pastor, or those who "work for GOD"..Elders of the church and such. I'm sure her boss isn't watching for her soul.

Correct, Many of the founding fathers believed in a Higher Power, but Where not all sure if it was God/Jehovah.
The founding of our nation If i can find the source i cant remember what book i read it from. Also Glenn Beck even theorises this multiple times, That this Nation was made following christian beliefs Also biblical traits on government ruling..

I think benjamin franklin wasnt a "Christian".

The statement itself, "have a blessed day", isn't necessarily a religious statement. If I where her, I'd discuss it with my boss from that angle. As defined by Websters, "blessed" can have a religious connotation, but it's also defined as: bringing pleasure, contentment, or good fortune. Why then would telling someone to "have a blessed day" offend them. I'd appeal to the managers sense of logic. If that fails, she has to be willing to lose her job over it. In the context of the current economy (and this is just my opinion here) you, and her would be better served by her changing the statement. She may have to lead by example in this situation. Her taking a stand, may be as simple as being the better person. I'm obviously not God, but I think he would understand.
PS: anyone reading this, please don't argue with me about God being a "he". That's not my point!

I have a friend thats a pastor. I will be having lunch with him for debate
Pray about it . Ask the Lord. He wrote the book, and He has the plan. Jesus, did not resist civil authority, only religous hypocrisy(Sanhedrin)

I agree.

I'm completely non-religious and have no idea how saying "have a blessed day" could possibly be offensive. To me it sounds like a slightly silly way of saying "have a great day," although I don't see the point of saying it. I really have no idea who could possibly be upset if they had a blessed day... It's extremely vague and doesn't denote any particular religious views in my mind.

Agreed. That shouldn't even be an issue you would fight. They don't want their business associated with religion etc or whatever the reason so she should respect that. It's not like they are asking her to do something against her morals etc.
