Christian Friends - End Time Prophecies?

Yes man is judged by his own works! HOLY CRAP you UNDERSTAND! BUT RIGHTEOUSNESS comes from FAITH IN CHRIST! Christ gives us His righteousness which is not something men can earn!

You've got one half of the point, but you are forgetting the other half, or "the good news". Which is having Christ's salvation.

And how the heck could I (or Whacked) pick and choose from the same freaking book written by the same author, and speaking on the same topic, and having the same context!?!?

AE14, you're Jewish right? I meant no disrepect out of that statement ^^^. I'm just excited that someone understands that we'll be judged according to our deeds. It's the first step to believing in Christ, honestly.

I dont believe it was directed to you...whacked has denied the issue of works for the entirety of the conversation. If you truly believe the NT, then I am going to assume you believe it all, so the works issue is true, and that part of the conversation is closed at this point.

In terms of myself, I was born and raised Jewish but have been a non-theist for as long as I remember. I have visited religious institutions of all faiths and spoken with the kind folks that work there. Those interactions helped to reaffirm my nontheistic approach. Specifically, the research about earlier myths from ancient beliefs, and the striking similarity to the Jesus myth, made me look at Christianity with a very specific questionable mindset. Once I saw the Horus, Osiris, Mithras, Thoth, Dionysus et al, and how the whole Jesus story was a great conglomeration of all of them, I couldnt take it seriously (no offense indeed I assure you).

IMO, I am completely fascinated by religion, specifically for its ability to form people and their behavior in both the positive and the negative. It is truly astounding to me

Regardless of our differences here.....merry Christmas to everyone. Always one of my favorite holidays, especially after watching my daughter tear through countless gifts. :)

You CONTINUE to consistently misrepresent my posts.....perhaps purposefully? :p

Let me belabor this AGAIN - this is not advanced calculus here LOL:

1) Man's actions/works DO NOT have ONE SINGLE thing to do with salvation. Jesus paid the price for all. His blood shed on the cross paid the price for humanity; well, for all who CHOOSE to accept this gift of salvation (as we are given FREE WILL to chose as we please). We do and did nothing to deserve this gift and cannot do anything to ADD to it. IT WAS FINISHED at the cross! DONE! NO actions on our part FURTHER our "chances" for salvation and eternal bliss with Jesus in Heaven.

2) Yes, a Christian's actions/works are judged but ONLY b/c rewards will be given in Heaven based upon HOW much one glorifies God while on earth.

Look: Man's spirit/mind/soul CHANGES once he accepts Jesus into his life. As a direct result, one seeks out, desires + chooses to emulate Christ from that point forward. Being human, we WILL screw up and sin! However, our sins/works/actions are washed away by the blood of Jesus (IF you have accepted His atonement).

If you truly accepted Jesus into your heart, your actions will follow suit!

Now, on the DIFFERENT topic of "faith without actions is dead" - I concur. As a Christian, we are instructed to spread His word. How does one do this? Thru his actions. Getting saved compels one to follow Jesus and all of His teachings, one of which is to spread the gospel! As a Christian, you no longer ''feel'' comfortable living in sin/iniquity. Things and sins of the flesh are simply not as appealing to you. Following God becomes a priority and things that glorify Him become apppealing!

As Christians, we will always be tempted by the flesh and carnal nature simply by virtue of who we are. That said, the more we have our eyes on God, the less apealing the things of the world become.

I did not understand this until I became a follower of Christ so I can appreciate al the non-believers perspective/sentiment on this.

NONE of this "made sense" to me until I acquiessed in total to Jesus. All of you will never be able to comprehend ANY of this unless you capitulate and allow Jesus to "run your life" as opposed to trying to run it yourself.

Again, I was a "Christian" like many; claiming to be one w/o truly giving my life to Jesus. Handing my soul over for FULL CONTROL by the Holy Spirit.

~65% of this country claims to be Christian. My guess would be that there are as few as 20% that actually ARE!

No one misrepresented you. Just read through your previous posts, and you will see your contradictions in full color :)

At the end of the day, to me it is a cop out that some are not real Christians etc... To be a follower of Jesus' teachings also means to be a follower of other beliefs hat Christianity "adopted" during it's rise to prominence, during a time of the rise of many cults. I would greatly suggest reading through the history of Constantine and his role in the true for formation of your belief. It might be of interest to you that this divine creation was not so divine at all.

I consider myself as "righteous" as a person can be, and to be honest none of it is as a result of faith, in fact the opposite

Then for you my friend, and in your world and in your mind, you have nothing to worry about.....right? ;)

As a disclaimer, I couldn't disagree MORE as that mindset is the very antithesis of WHAT will grant you eternal salvation.

However, sometimes, a hardened heart simply cannot be softened by man.

Once again, despite the topic of the thread, I find myself debating the existence of God in a way "I" perceive to be a rationale manner but to an Atheist, a naturally antagonistic irrationale spin is perceived.

There is no point. If you choose not to believe, don't. ;)

Respectfully, I will pray for you to one day see the light and be filled with the Holy Spirit. There is NO replacement.

With that, I'm out.

Merry Christmas fellas!

No more arguing today! Merry Christmas.

As my final thought, I have already used the NT to show you that you are incorrect. However, it is ok. I am a full supporter of believing what ever you like, as long as you believe it for the right reasons, and not out of fear.

Either way my friend....merry christmas and happy saturnalia and Dias Natalias ;)
