CD Review: Gnarls Barkley

Picked it up yesterday at wal mart. I usually download a few songs before i buy CD's now days but after hearing Crazy i decided to just buy it. A day later and it hasn't stopped playing. It has a Old 70's funck era feel with some real thought provoking or at least fun lyrics with a great track in the background

Two songs of note:

Storm Coming- This song makes you wanna throw weight around. It's the kind of song that sparks an energy that says **** it. I can hurt later but right now i'm moving some weight.

Just a Thought- With lyrics like; I've tried everything but suicide...But it's crossed my mine. It has a nice feel that lets you nod your head and want to press rewind. One of those songs you can apply to some point in your life.


In a world of bling, crystal and 24inch rims this is refreshing for those of us that enjoy old hip hop with a nice mellow feel.

Great CD...If you download MP3's I suggest buying this one. Those guys deserve every dime for this one.

I'll second this! It is a great album. The two songs you mentioned along with transformer are my favs. Crazy is really good, but I've heard it so much on the radio its old. Feng shui is pretty cool too. Necromancing justs seems really out of place on the album though.

It kinda reminded me (crazy that is) of Moby's songs from 'Play' until I realized it was Cee-Lo singing on the whole album not just sampled old albums. Really unique album and one that doesn't fit well into any strict categories.

Necromancer through me for a loop as well. Funny song and I guess fits ceelo's eccentric personality.

Transformer was a good one too.

never really was a fan of dangermouse, but have always enjoyed all of cee-lo's stuff. i really dug the gnarls stuff, was kinda hoping that the album would have been a bit longer, but its a really fun listin.
