Callin all Experts - Keto OS

oldskool

New member
Okay so I have a question.... I ran into this "new" drink called Keto OS that will put your body into a Ketosis state after an hour of drinking the mix... So I was intrigued so i bought a sample pack (3) and some Ketone strips.... and you will pop postive for ketones in your urine stream.....

Now the real question.... If you take a drink filled with ketones and you pop positive on a strip that doesn't truly mean you body is in a state of Ketosis and burning fat right????

Okay experts pls weigh in

good question. I personally think that a keto test right away will simply show that you have in fact ingested ketones. However, if you do another test hours later and still remain positive then something is clearly working! EvoMuse is coming out with KetoInduce, which functions this way

I can't wait for it either. Figured he'd be the best person to chime on this, too.

Can you link the product? It doesnt make sense that you can be ketogenic after just one drink, especially if you eat carbs for the rest of the day

Makes perfect sense, they are just exogenous ketones. Patrick Arnold's Prototype Nutrition has had it on the market for over 2 years as Ketoforce and later KetoCaNa.

It just makes little sense if you are still consuming carbs, IMO.
No supplement will out-do your diet, in terms of net results.

The ketones are for survival when no glucose is otherwise available.

Is it marketed for weight loss..?

Sounds like someone ripped off Patrick Arnold & Dr. Dagostino

Im well aware. But does it "switch" your own body to keto? If so, how?

Artificial Ketosis.. Ketones in the blood whether exogenous or produced by the body still equals ketosis. It's only a temporary state as opposed to if u were eating LCHF.

If we define ketosis as the increased utilization of ketones and if this product does increase ketone fuel utilization, then I see no reason why we can't say that it would switch you to keto. The real question imo is if it is sustainable or not. What happens after you burn through the salts?

Been reading how Keto diets are showing drastic improvements to people suffering Alzheimer's and also possibly epilepsy. These products would be great for them. Is Patric Arnold's product out now?

Wouldnt ketone production be a key term in that definition?

Depends, but that's why I included in the post a definition.

I view ketosis as a state of dominant fuel utilization. So of ketones are providing the primary fuel source for the activity, then you are in a state of ketosis.

I guess you can define it to include ketone production, but that would be odd imo since that's not how he define other metabolic states imo

But if you enter ketosis because of the ketones in the drink, is there any benefit? Once you burn through all those ketones wouldn't you go back to a normal state? I don't see the point.

EvoMuse KetoInduce is supposed to put you in a temporary state of ketosis but I don't think it does it by feeding you ketones and burning those. I can see how that is useful. I could be wrong on the mechanics tho. I don't science much

I don't see much of a point either to be honest. The only scenerio where I think it *might* be useful is as a intraworkout fuel substrate for a keto adaptated athlete.

as I understand the subject these are used to get u into keto faster.. its doesn't make u in ketosis, just helps you switch gears faster after a carb up.
that being said.. ketones are used for energy so you could consume them pre work out and [possibly] feel some energy.

Thats true, thanks for the insight JJ! Dont see you posting as much anymore.

I know you probably don't have the time, but if you google "tim ferriss d'agostino" you'll find a podcast from this week that explains how all of this if helpful. The problem is that it is a 3 Hour Podcast. I'm 1/2 through and this research doctor has convinced me to use ketones and spend more time in ketosis.

I know some people don't like Tim Ferriss, but the doctor puts out some great information and research.

Apparently, Special Forces are using ketones in several operations for fuel when it makes sense. Specifically, Navy Seals use it during dive operations because of the effect on blood and oxygen utilization efficiency.

Idk I'd think if you take a piss test and show ketones, I'd probably forsee diagnostic testing for diabetes, but I'm not 100 on that...

Took some time off the forums to focus on other things. Trying to get back into the swing of things now

usually you would be right, or along the lines of being right. However, after ingesting keto salts it would only be natural to pee ketones
