"Bulking compounds" vs. "cutting compounds"

Hi Patrick -

Why do some steroids get a reputations as bulkers and others as cutters? Do "cutting compounds" actually increase metabolism in any meaningful way? Or do bulkers slow metabolism for all processes not directly related to muscle building?

Or is it more about marketing?

For example, superdrol vs. furuza (aka orastan, katanadrol)...

Thanks in advance!

some steroids cause more water retention than others and these are usually considered bulkers. though in reality its just a water thing

certain steroids like anavar though may have enhanced ability to reduce gut fat compared to steroids like testosterone (at least one study has suggested this). another good example of that may be 11-oxo / 11-ketotestosterone, which can inhibit cortisol production in fat tissue and liver
