Bugs the hell out of me...

I go into a local business, talking to the person behind the counter about a product, got my money in my hand...and the phone rings. Why is it that I get made to wait? Why is the person calling more important than me! I just don't get this business practice, and you see it all the time. If somebody else came into the store, they'd wait behind me wouldn't they? I was there first damn it! Let the phone ring!!!
 
You would complain if you were the one calling and they didn't answer. Them not answering will more likely cause a lost sale than you waiting, since you are already in the store.
 
The idea is that You can see/hear the phone ringing so should understand when they have to turn their attention from you.....while the person on the phone cannot see you standing at the register.

I'm OK with that if they're polite/apologetic (hell, maybe even multi-task, run the register while talking on the phone).
 
I was in an Alltel store buying a phone the other day with my wife and 12 year old daughter and the two teenage boys working the counter are fighting with each other sceaming and dropping fbombs like everyother word so someone stopping to answer a phone would not even faze me there is no such thing as customer service anymore imo
 
Common business practice because the person in the store will wait, if they put the person on the phone on hold they may hang up.

I do NOT like it and I never did it to anyone in my gym, health club or store. I always make sure I have a way to take care of everyone so I don't upset someone in the store who is in need of help.

CROWLER, I agree....

If the phone rings more than 3 times you have a staffing issue. Period. If you expect to have a sucessful business, save money somewhere the guest/customer is not going to be affected.

This would probably be why CROWLER's customer service knows no equal.:study:
 
Did you ever notice when you are driving everyone going slower then you is a d*ick head and everyone going faster then you is an as%hole??

Same concept; You can't win, they already got you.
