breezy's training, supplementation, and food log

5/30/13

I’m having a very busy day, but squeezed in an arm workout this morning. I might go for a little run later if I have time and the temperature cools down.

V-Bar Pushdown / 1.25 BB Curl
160x15 / 80x8, x10 (partials)
160x15 / 80x8, x10
160x15 / 80x8, x10
160x15 / 80x8, x10

-1.25 curl: 8 reps staying in “sweet spot” / 10 reps starting arms fully extended to 3-4 inch curl

1.25 Hammer Curl / Pronated Kickback
40x8, x8 / 25x8
40x8, x8 / 25x8
40x8, x8 / 25x8
40x8, x8 / 25x8

Lying Kettlebell Extension / Preacher Curl
40x10 / 80x10
40x10 / 80x10
40x10 / 80x10
40x10 / 80x10

Not bad for a "quick workout" bro, looks like you got a decent amount in! Nice job!

Funny how what you manage to "squeeze in" looks like more than most other people take a whole session on.

Happily today is a day off for me.. but looks like you got in .. did some work and got out... nice!

Yup. It didn't take too long, but was a solid session.

Thanks man! I accomplished everything that I had planned on doing.

Haha It didn't look like much on paper at first. The supersets and partial sets were actually a good amount of work though.

My IC kit arrived today. I immediately had the Milk Chocolate sample in unsweetened vanilla almond milk as a part of my first meal. The combo is seriously amazing and I'll be getting a tub of MC ASAP (I'm usually not a fan of straight chocolate proteins either). Tonight, I'll use the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor and Quest PB cups to make ice cream. I'll skip the Greek yogurt to keep the carb total down, but I honestly don't think it'll be missed because the protein is very creamy.

Yeah man, I'm beyond impressed with both flavors. Did you try Milk Chocolate yet? I'm struggling to wait until tonight for Vanilla; I've been smelling it, which hasn't helped lol. It reminds me of frosting with some cake batter mixed in. I can't wait to see what flavors are next.

That's great to hear. I'll be keeping an eye on that as well.

Tried milk choco today and loved it! Best chocolate flavored protein I've tasted so far. Will try the vanilla sample either tonight or tomorrow.

Edit: typed too quick I'm talking about the usp protein. :D

Awesome brother! I agree with you 100%. Try it in almond milk and you won't believe that you're drinking a protein shake. I can't even imagine how it would taste in regular milk. Let me know what you think of vanilla. I'm pretty sure you'll be impressed.

I had mine in 2 percent milk and it was amazing. I literally wanted to make another when I hadn't even finished my first. Amazing taste. A bit clumpy but I actually liked the choco chunks!

Nice! I'll definitely have to try it with milk soon. I've had it mix great everytime (with 10-15 hard shakes in a shaker). Did you mix it in a glass?

It's hot outside...and inside because I didn't have the AC on. Summer came out of nowhere and it's an uncomfortable 95 degrees. I thought about possibly running tonight, but that isn't going to happen at this point.

Today's leg session was intense. It was one of the more challenging workouts that I've had in a while and I was ready to collapse.

1.25 Leg Curl
2 warm-up x8
80x10
90x10
90x10
100x10

-1.25 curl: lower the weight, bring it up 4-6 inches, and return to the bottom before going all the way up. That equals 1 rep.

-strongest pump I've had from leg curls

Explosive Squats
135x6
135x6
225x6
225x6
315x6
315x6

Pause Squats
315x3 (~4 sec pause)
315x3 (~5 sec pause)
315x3 (~7 sec pause)
315x3 (~7 sec pause)

I had only planned on 3 sets, but when I went to check my form (video) on the third, I found out it stopped recording when I placed my phone down. I wasn't too happy and did it again without too much of a problem. My legs got a little shaky, which I've been trying to figure out how to prevent. It's not uncomfortable at all, but I'd like to make improvements. I suppose with pausing that long at that particular depth, some shaking could be expected. I'm open to hearing any suggestions.

Sets 1, 2, and 4:

Leg Press
3 warm-up x4
630x8
680x8
720x8
770x6

-3 sec negative/drive to ¾ lockout

-the intensity techniques had my legs on fire

Split Squat (HS squat/lunge)
50x15
50x15
50x15

-constant tension/no lockout

-30 sec quad stretch per leg after each set

-these were a battle and the pump was insane

Example:

GHR
BWx12
BW+25x8
BW+25x8

-30 sec hamstring stretch after each set

Cardio

-No thank you

No worries... Glad to hear it is so good though.

Nice workout today! And hot/humid here as well.

Yeah, all of the feedback I've seen or heard has been great.

Thanks. Me and the humidity don't get along very well.

Haha it was humid as hell here yesterday. I don't mind the heat but I'd rather sh1t in my hands and clap than be outside during a muggy humid day

Lol that's exactly how I feel.

I have a pretty hilarious visual of this lmao

Another killer leg session (literally :)). Those pause squats are intense, and at 315 for 7 seconds, that is legit.

Thanks dude. They're pretty fun. I'll consider adding weight next week since my first set with the long pause wasn't too difficult.

I don't think you are human. Just a cyborg who completes insane workouts. For real.

Adding more weight... sheesh haha

Haha thanks bolt. My father's side of the family is actually half robot lol. I'm obviously joking, but my father and grandfather were both beasts and exceptional athletes.

Haha we'll see. Most likely yes.

Ah, well then I attribute all your success to good genetics ;)

Kidding :D

You sir, are a beast.

Haha they definitely taught me how to work hard.

Thank you sir.

I just finished what was my tastiest batch of protein ice cream to date. I was right in thinking that Greek yogurt wasn't needed. It was very rich, creamy, and delicious. There was absolutely none of the iciness that I've had with some of my recent batches using only almond milk. It's going to be tough not burning through my tub in a week.

I got excited and forgot to take a picture before I started eating.

I'm very dispointed that i'll probably never get to try this protein.. importing protein is almost impossible unless it declares on the packaging that it doesn't contain egg protein .. :(

I wanted to try it as well as part of the IC.. but that was not available to Canadians. And protein is damn expensive to ship. Might have to make a run for the border! lol

At least you have the option, I can't even do that. A 5lb tub here costs ~$120NZD (usually upwards of that)

Which recipe did you go with on this one? Looks really good..

2 scoops protein
2 pb cups
2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk

It was phenomenal. It melted a little before I took a pic, but not too much. Certain protein blends work better than others and this was perfect. It had just as much, if not more creaminess than most do with Greek yogurt. Not including it, kept away any added sourness as well.

That's odd. It doesn't say "no egg", but it doesn't have any either.

Well, I don't have the protein but I do have some Choc PB protein that I might whip up with those measurements tomorrow before the game.

I have never had almond milk... in your opinion would skim milk or almond milk taste better. And is there a reason you choose Almond Milk (hope that is not a dumb question).

That should be good as well. I'll probably check to see if the store got any CCCD bars in and make some with one of those if they did.

I'm not really sure. I've always used unsweetened vanilla, which adds a little to the flavor as well. That's just how I learned to make it. I think the main reason it's used is because it's very low calorie/carb. It works out great now that I'm staying around 30g.

Yeah, we have quite strict customs here.

Thanks Breezy. If I get to a store today I am going to pick a carton up.

I had never had almond milk until a few weeks ago, I've always been a regular milk guy. The macros are great and the taste is awesome. My whole family is using almond milk now don't plan on going back :-)

No problem man. Sounds good; I prefer unsweetened vanilla, but regular unsweetened isn't bad either...or you could get sweetened whatever.

Yeah, it's pretty good. I actually haven't been a regular milk drinker for about the last 20 years. I rarely have a glass of either and basically just use it for shakes, cereal, and ice cream.

I've never been a milk drinker at all. Even in shakes I've always used water. My coach had me switch to unsweetened original almond milk and long story short I don't ever plan on drinking a shake without it again haha

I don't think you are human. Just a cyborg who completes insane workouts. For real.

I'll third this! Breezy always amazes me with how beast he is. The thing is he's never stopped getting stronger since I've known him and he was strong to begin with!

Well... here's a good feeling

Also mbcaa were on sale for 17$
Stocked up.. Choc pb protein on the way

Every time I buy from nutra I am blown away by their shipping times
