Best Weight Gainer?

I have ON 100% Gold standard whey protein but now Im looking to add a weight gainer. Looking for one with just complex-carbs and LOW IN SUGAR!...yuck who wants sugar making you fat!

I just started using Real Gains from Universal. Great nutrient profile with probably the lowest sugar I've seen from weight gainers. Check it out.

If you end up getting it and if you get the chocolate flavor, I suggest mixing it with less water so that it's a little bit thicker but it makes it VERY tasty(not that it's bad tasting with alot of water...). You'll probably still be thirsty tho, so just drink some plain water after also.

alright I'll look into that, I've noticed a lot of weight gainers have low ass servings.

i have also been using Real Gains, for the past couple weeks. I have heard great things, and personally I think its a good product. Makes me a little tired, but that might just be me. Try it out, it has 21 servings(not too bad for a weight gainer), and it's relatively cheap.

make your own.... a few scoops of protein powder, ground up oats, natty PB and bananas go a long way....

Word up. Weight gainers are a total scam. I mean you use like 3 of the huge shovel size scoops which end up giving you 100+ grams of carbs (maltodextrin) and 50G of protein. You get maybe 8 servings out of a tub and you pay $30+.

Like the others said make your own. This way you can control the nutrient profile and use the kind of carbs you want.

hmmm ground up oats...so cook the oats and then grind them up and put them in or what?....add natural PB...well whats the differents between natural PB and just PB?...i usually get like 25% less Fat PB...i dont have a blender either

Thats what i would go with. You can then mix the macros to suit your needs and time of day.

you need a damn blender come on now! you can get one for $20 im sure.

I knew the whole make your own gainer was going to come out heh. If you can buy some maltodextrin that would be a good thing to add since just about all gainers have that in um. I got good results actually from ON's Serious Mass 12lb bag it was good if you really need to bulk up and dont really mind not being so lean. Start off with half of the recommended serving cause its tough to get used to but i got weight from it and it lasted a LONG time. I also added bananas, pb etc. I dont use gainers anymore, oh wait....i just bought some Cytogainer from NP :)

ya ik i need a blender...also need a food scale

I tried a few with mixed results.
BSN True Mass- Tons of sugar 13.5g maltodextrin
MHP MASS- 1g of sugar Carbs from oats, barley and oat fiber. This is what I am currently taking. Got it on sale 17.99 for 5lbs
Cytogainer-5g sugar had decent results with it
On's Pro Complex Gainer - 6g sugar but only one scoop (159g)
For what most of these cost you can make a good one on your own. But if you don't have the time to be a chemist they help.

Use muscle milk, some peanut butter, and oatmeal. Don't bother cooking the oatmeal, just throw it in a blender with some milk and you're downing over 1,000-1,200cal. per shake. Best tasting weight gainer and cheaper than most.

Kroger here has dark chocolate pb, white choc. pb, and cinnamon raisin swirl pb...they taste incredible but be careful with them or you will eat the whole jar in one sitting.

haha that PB sounds like the ****

if you make your own try:

milk (type/percent up to you - if thin use whole milk, vit.D)
whey protein (concentrate, isolate - what ever you have)
casein protein (powder or cottage cheese - won't notice
the cottage cheese once blended)
old fashion oats (not quick or instant)
(try grinding them in a coffee grinder)
peanut butter (can be added room temp. or warmed in
the microwave - blends/incorporates easier)
fruit (banana or berries)
olive oil/flax seed oil (EFA's - once blended taste of oil(s) is
not noticeable)
maltodextrin/dextrose (if you need to increase carbs -
don't go crazy)

sounds like a good recipe umm....time to get a blender lol

btw, you dont cook the oats...just get the regular old oats in the supermarket, get you a measuring cup, measure out however much you need, in my case, I use 1 cup of dry oats, grind them up in a coffee grinder (you can get one for less than $20 at walmart), add in natty pb, banana, milk, protein, and eggs and blend up into a healthy, calorie dense shake.

So, if you make your own weight gainer when would be the best time to take it? I mean like should it be before working out, after working out, or just anytime.

Add some coconut oil (from health food store)... makes any shake taste incredibly creamy, and you get a lot of good fat.

You don't worry about raw eggs (salmonella)?

When they pasteurize eggs they bring up the temperature slowly to an exact point where 99.9% of bacteria is destroyed. They do this all without cooking the egg inside the shell too! Its pretty cool considering salmonela poisoning is the highest food related illness in the U.S.

Also for the OP i've used Cytogainer consitently for about two years and love the stuff. I mix it with ON 100% if I want to cut the calories back too. They have awesome flavors and the mixability is flawless.
