Hello,

I`m 40 now. No problems with low testosterone or whatsaverer , however I keep struggling with gaining strenght in lifts - especially squats but bench press also. I`m almost 210pounds( 90kg ) and 183cm tall. However i keep struggling with HB squats with 225pound for 10 reps now in 3-4 sets, and 225pound for 5 reps in bench press.
I`d like to increase it .
I use whey, some hcl creatine (2g grams after workout) ( bloating issues with monohydrate) and vitamins and fenugreek and ashwagandha.

I`m leaning towards supplementing phosphatidic acid or maybe at least increasing creatine intake a bit and take every day not only on workout days...
I`m not good at new supplements on market nowadays, can u suggest something ?

greetings from Poland.

I haven`t used these supplements...
I`ve just checked right now and all of them are available at stores in Poland, and cost rougly the same price so I can choose something. But it would be a hard decision.
By the way don`t you recommend PA ( phospatidic acid ) ?

I can buy Anabolic Effect, Vector, or X-gels.... and maybe something other , You suggest...

I want to buy only one at the moment to see which one works ...
Which one of them would be a better choice to increase strength of course to hit PR`s with good caloric surplus diet and creatine ...?

As far as i remember from more up-to-date and nowadays supplements... I `ve used massMax XT in the past - about 2 years ago but I wouldn`t use it again at least as the strength goes .

All good recommendations, although I have not tried the X-Gels I have heard good things.

I can speak to the Vector and AE and I would stack em if I were you.

PA is great for strength as well, but I think you get additional benefits from the others.

Vector is a great supplement .. has 3 ingredients
AE has those 3 ingredients plus extra stuff .. proven studies

ive ran both and plenty swear by Anabolic effect .. def a good way to start one supplement at a time... it actually can be found for cheaper too which is a plus

I `ve just checked ingredients of Vector and AE both of them have ingredient :
ERIOBOTRYA JAPONICA

As I googled i found new clinic study taken on June 2020 which scared me a bit :
Potential male contraceptive effect of eriobotrya japonica
It looks as it "shrinks" the testicles and lowers testosterone... which I do not want ... I want to have child in year or so...

PA is great for strength as well, but I think you get additional benefits from the others.
If PA is proven for strength gains , maybe i should try it!

Same. I've ran multiple bottles of Vector over the course of the last year with no issues at all.

I want to try two of others VECTOR ingredients separetely :
Mistletoe extract, and radix rehmanniae as they seem legit useful for increasing IGF-1 and safe for males (especially spermatogenesis). I have found them in e-shops specialised in selling herbs and I`m gonna supplement myself with it at dose like in Vector: 1g a day.
Moreover I`m gonna buy Phospatidic Acid - Apollo's Hegemony mTOR PA .
Do You think it`s a good "stack" and idea to take these herbs and PA... ?

Weigh the cost of those extracts separately, and compare it to Vector. Also, was a rat study, and dose was 100mg pet KG. That would be almost 10g for you, so Vector won't have any dose sufficient to shut down the testes. And neither would AE.

Couple things.

The spermatogenesis in these products may be from or similar to what is seen with Ursolic Acid (Loquat contains a pretty solid dose of UA so that may be part of it). So that is another ingredient to keep in mind of avoiding if you worry about it. It appears to be transient and stop with cessation of the ingredient, but I understand caution if actively trying to conceive (that is already challenging and stressful enough).

Next, I'd caution or worry about finding a quality enough extract for some of the others. Not saying it isn't out there, but keep in mind you are looking for Korean Mistetoe extract, not just mistletoe and it can be tough to ensure you are getting something similar to what is used in the studies. I'd also shoot for 2g if possible as well if you find some, although 1g would be the minimum I would try.

PA should be fine too, just tends to be rather expensive.

Good luck with the ingredients, sure others would be interested in feedback after you run them for a bit too.

"Loquat contains a pretty solid dose of UA so that may be part of it"

Indeed, i`ve just checked and it`s saying Ursolic acid indeed impair sperm maturation, mobility and quality ... :

Ursolic acid because of its anti-estrogenic effect reduces spermatogenesis and causes a decrease in sperm counts 2. UA has been shown to have the potential of inhibiting sperm motility, and also possess antifertility activity in rats and mice

"Next, I'd caution or worry about finding a quality enough extract for some of the others. Not saying it isn't out there, but keep in mind you are looking for Korean Mistetoe extract, not just mistletoe and it can be tough to ensure you are getting something similar to what is used in the studies. Yes, thank You for reminding me for that important detail ! I `ll keep that in mind! Have to find Korean Mistetoe, not just mistletoe :) That`s pretty much important, right ?;)
As far as radix rehmanniae goes, i found it as a root available to buy, so it won`t be an extract , unless i make it somehow using ethanol or something ;) but i won`t I think... So there is suggestion to take it 2g a day ?

I have just bought an shilajit extract cause it`s in AE and found in papers that has stimulated and upregulated genes responsible for muscle protein synthesis and is good for testosterone as well ( and also good for spermatogenesis )
The Human Skeletal Muscle Transcriptome in Response to Oral Shilajit Supplementation

The truth is protein can help you about 1 to 5 % and the rest is your whole food diet and recovery.

Like Derik said above, dialing in your diet and making sure you are getting enough protein to support muscle synthesis is going to make a bigger difference than any natural muscle building supplement. That being said, Creatine is tried and true and does work, I'd definitely dose every day and not just workout days to keep your body saturated. Maybe Beta-Alanine and or some BCAA's, but again not as important as diet and your workouts.

When hitting a plateau one of the best things one can do is change up their workout routines. Make sure you are hitting all muscle groups, pushing yourself, but not overtraining. I know it can be challenging at 40+ but it can be done. I'm 43, I have a friend that's 51 and puts me to shame. Keep at it brother.
