Best Health and Longevity Supps...Cooper or Synapse

Blend them for that fiber ;)

Berries, banana, carrot, feijoa and kiwifruit is a good combo.

For a vege based one, carrots, kale, broccoli, mango and banana is decent
Get that VitaMix on deck and blend everything!
Granny smith ones do!
Honey crisp apples FTW

Assuming ones diet is not excessively devoid of 'healthy nutritious foods', thoughts on greens supplements (such as Green Vibrance, Vitamineral Green, Perfect Food, etc)? Im asking purely from a health benefit perspective (so put aside monthly cost).

IMO not worth your money. There is little benefit to these powders, especially if you have a good diet.

I hate the texture of kale once it's blended. It's so gritty.. I do juice spring salad or spinach with some fruits but once in awhile I get a double shot of wheatgrass. If it's not a hassle I'd do it every day.

This. The tarter the apple the better. I add lemon and lime juice and the veges are hard to pick out. Cant complain with that

Everyone has their own needs, but I can tell you what I take for health:

Vitamin D - seen thousands of outpatient records, seen maybe 3 people with fully replete labs. The struggle is real
Ashwaghanda - neural health/calm -> I tend to be stressed and high strung from work
NAC - recent data showing immune benefits in reducing influenza infections. Data as performance enhancer. Data as testosterone optimizer
I3C - a key reason why cruciferous veggies are so protective against cancer
Magnesium - mellows me out, sleep, also common deficiency

Things I've tried:

Curcumin - Meriva has great human data on joint and liver support. My subjective joint pain and liver values never improved even with chronic megadosing.
Vitamin E as mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols - I liked this for skin and hair, but it's very, very expensive
Astaxanthin - no vision improvement, no change in cholesterol levels
PQQ - totally worthless

Metformin (haven't tried) probably is beneficial for longevity based on all the available data. But at the end of the day, it's a drug. It has side effects, particularly severe diarrhea in many patients. And it is probably slightly inhibitory on muscle gain

I eat the same stuff every day, all "bro" and healthy, but not a ton of variety. Included in that is a ton of Baby Spinach, Steamed Broccoli (best purchase off Amazon - a $25 Steamer) Red/Yellow/Green Peppers and plain Tomato Juice. That's about it - not a fruit guy.

I do use Ultimate Nutrition's Greens powder (good value - 64 servs/$30) and ADAM Multi's, I also always buy Garlic, CoQ10, Vitamin D, Rhodiola, Ashwaghanda Fish Oil, and Spirulina.

48 and feel great, energy for days.

Hey

I was wondering what you think are the best longevity or health sups for a bodybuilder and what doses would be best

also side note

Metformin seems to be very popular with the health extension people in terms of living longer and preventing disease

can you also chime in on your thoughts on the longevity benefits versus the bodybuilding benefits

I have heard that it decreases mTOR and Test levels, how valid is this for bodybuilding

thanks

These are my health conscience staples:

Fish oils
Vitamin D3
Vitamin C
Spirulina
NAC
Ashwagandha
Probiotics
Astragalus
Multivitamin

Year round I use

Orange triad
Oximega fish oil
Cycle assist(half dose)
Extra Hawthorne berry

I feel pretty great with this combo. Granted, I'm still very young, but I still like to keep health as a priority

What kind of dosing/timing do you follow for Ashwagandha?

Good to see that Cycle Assist in there :)

I agree.. but considering the average person in America these day's doesn't exactly have a good diet, I can see where the super greens come in to play. Apparently it is easier to slam down some spirulina than eating a head of broccoli.

And dont worry, Stanford already successfully extended the Telomere nucleotide chain by 1000 so far in cultured human cells. Just a matter of time before we find out the Cindy Crawford real secret and live till we are 250. :D

I have switched to KSM-66 exclusively as it is proving to be much stronger than anything else. I take 300mg in the morning and again mid afternoon.

I usually rotate between a few different ashwagandha product/brands, but I am also currently using KSM-66. I also use 300mg in the am and another 300mg in the pm.

May I ask how much D3 you take per day?

IIRC Charles Polliquin suggested 15000 iu of d3 every other day. Not sure as to why tho.

People tend to take between 5000iu to 10000iu daily so 15000 EOD sits within that.

I believe he was interviewing with dave palumbo and he mentioned some study based evidence of it being optimal. Kinda over my head, but maybe someone else is aware of it. Very curious about coopers method of 50000

In my late teens I abused PH/DS's not knowing exactly what they were, the repercussions or addiction potential . A ton of misinformation and ignorance back then. Plus due to my generalised epilepsy, other issues follow with depression being one. Sustain Alpha has made me feel so much better mood wise in the last two weeks than in a very long time.
Any health repercussions from abuse, have you had fertility tested? Just curious from your past to see the true detriments of teen abuse.

I tend to avoid polliquins supplement recommendations lol

durring the end of it, I had lowered immunity, lethargy sleep issues, anxiety Attacks, erectyle dysfunction. It all hit at once. Today, years later, I have a lower libido/erection quality than I think a 24 year old should have, but I have nothing to base that off of. Probably half psychological.

I have never had blood work done, which is extremely irresponsible on my part, but I plan to start seeing an endo in the fall.

Fertility is def a concern. so is the possibility for a prolactin secreting tumor. I would like to think I'll be a candiate for early TRT. That is my biggest dream and nightmare. I hope to have kids one day.

There are new advancements for fertility now, so I wouldn't be to weary about that, but TRT is a definite possibility which I would hate. Hopefully all goes well and remember that you learn from mistakes, plus the fact that it could always be worse. If and when you get blood work keep me posted, want nothing but the best for my AM fellas

Can you elaborate on this? Or anyone for that matter?

Vegetables in the cabbage family contain high amounts of I3C. I3C has been studied a fair bit for cancer prevention (breast cancer, prostate cancer, etc), including when taken with a carcinogen. There are a variety of mechanisms that it works, but one of them is that it inhibits growth of cancer cells in the G1 phase.

I've read about taking it like this rather than smaller doses throughout the week and people all talk about the energy they get. Is that the primary reason for taking that much once a week?

Primary reason is convenience. No difference in absorption is noted. This is actually how vitamin D is prescribed to treat deficiency: 50,000 IU once weekly. The evidence is quite strong

Can you elaborate on this? Or anyone for that matter?

Synapsin hit the nail on the head. Pharm companies are actively modifying the I3c molecule as we speak as a means of cancer prevention in people with heritable genetic illness. Again, it's one of the few points where medicine and supplements cross, I.e. It has so much potential that bit pharma wants to capitalize on it via more potent synthetic derivatives.

And would DIM be equally important?

DIM, despite being perceived as an active i3c derivative, actually is inferior to i3c for a number of purposes...and for reasons we don't quite understand

Hey OP, just saw this thread. There are lots of ingredients with some research behind them. What exactly are you looking for in terms of benefits? Like blood pressure, general health, nootropics, etc. It might be easier for you to mention a product or ingredient and I can give you my thoughts on it

All of the above, don't be mad brah

Is it specifically vitamin D3 that is most beneficial and is it safe to take those high dosages indefinitely? What about side affects, was reading about raising calcium levels too high and hardening of the arteries?

Yes, D3. Your body can produce ~10,000IU with perfect sun exposure, so that or less daily (or cumulatively for Once/Week doses) should be fine. Calcium is a co-factor, have any links to those last two concerns? Production facility workers and mis-labeling has caused a few over-doses in the MILLIONS of IUs range... recovery was simple and quick. So, 10K or less/day really shouldn't worry any one. Just make sure the 57 other pills you take don't have a few thousand IUs each, in them :)

Taking D3 with vitamin K2 (MK-7 form is probably best) should help ensure calcium is directed towards bones/teeth as opposed to the heart. I personally use LEF Super K.

Other supps I use include:

Ubiquinol
Pantethine
Probiotics
BCM-95 (curcumin)
Fish Oil
Citrus Bergamot
Magnesium
Apple Cider Vinegar

Certainly agreed with indole-3-carbinol. I've been trying to make a conscious effort to consume more foods rich in this phytonutrient. Broccoli sprouts, kale and I believe brussel sprouts are good choices.

My daily "health" stack is:

4k IU Vit D. Seems to keep my 25-hydroxyvit-d levels at a good level. Haven't checked in a year, though.

Mervia - 1g a day

I'm a fan of magnesium, but haven't been dosing regularly of late. I've exponentially increased my greens consumption over the last year or so, fairly MG rich foods.

Excellent thread, I use magnesium citrate ( the citrate is good for the kidney ect.... ) , creatine monohydrate, a multi with vitamine e tocotrienol, glucosamine+chondroitine ( some study are showing less death in the group using both vs placebo), fish oil triglyceride form, vit d3

My GF is trying to get me to drink those smoothies. I need to admit, I should drink them more often. I love fruit, berries etc :)

So many options and they taste amazing. I made one last night with Pineapple, Cranberries, blueberries, banana, kale and carrot.

I tend to have two a day and swap out the fruits for variety. Broccoli is the one vege I cannot mask in a shake, anyone had any success? Will try granny smiths today

Not really supplements, but some cheap and healthy food recommendations would be:

Dark chocolate with over 70% cocoa. I use bakers chocolate for that 100% cocoa content.
1 cup of kale, broccoli, or cabbage
1 serving of almonds, walnuts, or pecans with a brazil nut thrown in
1 cup of some kind of berry like blackberries, blueberries, raspberries etc.
1 serving of Yogurt

Most of these foods have extracts in various supplements (epicatechin, I3C/DIM, anthocyanins, probiotics) but the foods also contain various nutrients that potentially make them superior to isolated compounds. Plus kefir tastes a lot better than a few gel caps of probiotics.

Yea totaly agree.
Cold, delicious, refreshing and healthy as faaawk :)

I like kiwi,strawberries and mango

I watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead years ago. Its over the top, loose with the facts, but did hit home the point of what I should be focusing on more. My diet had virtually no veggies so this was a good way to jumpstart it.
