I've been trying to get rid of my belly fat for the last couple of years without success. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

To lose fat, you need to take fewer calories than you burn-regardless of what percentage of carbs, protein or fat you are eating.

You really have to dial in your diet to get a low BF%. You have to be, and stay, strict on your diet and you'll get there. I'm sure you already know this, but that really is the only way to get there IMO.

Negative. Carbs = insulin = fat storage.
Get full on fat and protein. Ketosis is where your body is living on fat instead of sugar.

Do a glucose tolerance test-measure glucose and insulin at 0,30,60,90 and 120 min.

This will tell if you have hyperinsulinemia-overproduction of insulin after a meal.
Insulin staples fat around your belly.

My endo had me do this test among other.
She diagnosed that condition and prescribed me metformin.
It has trimmed my waist totally down, after being unable to do it with dieting and exercise.

Or you could just eat less carbs. Carbs are not essential to thrive no matter what anybody says. I'm in better shape than most people at my gym and I've eaten <50g of carbs for years.
Your body is extremely efficient at using fat as fuel, creating its own glucose (gluconeogenesis) from proteins, and creating ketones.
Using medication to correct poor diet choices is a band aid which does not solve the problem, only masks it. There are side effects to taking Metformin such as b vitamin deficiency and a host of mineral deficiencies.
Too many people want a magic pill to solve their poor lifestyle choices, such as statins and blood pressure medication, or metformin. The body is capable of healing itself if you treat it right.

Protein, fat, veggies, berries as a treat, nuts and seeds.
Decrease systemic inflammation and improve n3:n6.
Get sleep, sunlight, water and some exercise. Do some sprints once a week and eat every 3 hours (maintain blood.glucose stability without spiking at each meal). <50g carbs day, protein at 1g/lb bw and rest is fat
