BCAA's a must or hype?

Chuck Diesel

Do you see any difference in dosing BCAA Pre + Post, as opposed to just Intra?
Or do you do all three? ;)

Me personally, I haven't used bulk BCAAs consistently since around 2005 when protein factory was selling them in bags.

When it comes to BCAA products I've only used Xtrend Free (crisp Apple), Aminoject and my DIESELADE product.

I notice less muscle soreness on Aminoject, same with DIESELADE when taken intra but my intra last until kinda post workout because as the bottle gets down to 12oz I fill it back up to 20oz, 3x during the workout. I notice less muscle soreness on DIESELADE also, and Xtend. On DIESELADE, intra weight training, I notice more endurance. Not on the others. Also I get cramps on Xtend post workout. Thats probably due to the sodium, because I get very little sodium compared to the average American. I cook with potassium chloride.

So I do like this, with 8g BCAAs per scoop: 1/3 scoop with my preworkout, 1/2 scoop in 20oz water intra (thats the one I water down as my workout goes on) and then about 1/3 scoop with my post workout creatine product. I think the least advantageous way for me to take them is preworkout only. The reason is, BCAAs are absorbed so fast, I don't need them 20min preworkout, and then my body isn't doing damage to itself until 20min into my workout, thats like 40min pre-needed.

I'd take whatever BCAA product you are on, and use intra workout and post, total about >=8g bcaas and see if you notice any less muscle soreness. Also push yourself and do exercises you don't do often that would make you sore. I get no muscle soreness right now on BCAAs. Also joint pain and fatigue isn't muscle soreness, people think it is or group it all together.

This weekend I was thinking about training legs every other day for 6 days (3workouts) at at least 80% max effor. That way I will know for sure if BCAAs are decreasing my muscle soreness.

Good stuff. Gonna buy those 75oz bottles and drink them intra + post.
Great way to up your daily water intake...

yeah ppl say that, but I drink like I swear 2.5 gals of water a day anyway. My brother for instance probably drinks 2oz of water a day haha
75oz is perfect size jug. I do sip bcaas post workout till bed, just like to be in a better "recovery mode."

wanted to get this up-

today was the first day using dieselade, during workout only

when I opened the jug, it was a pretty good smell, not a chemical smell. This is important as you will see later on-

mix ability- 8 out of 10 - then dissolved- when stirring and shaking- however, I let this sit for a bit as I was using it for working out only. by the time I was at the gym, no bcaa's floating around - this was about a 15 min time frame. I am sure you could stir or shake it more

taste- I am not a big fan of lime and as far as cherries go, would rather pop than eat ;O)

so Smitty, why in the hell would you buy this if you didn't care for the taste? Very good question and my answer is simple. I have used bcaa's in the past with different flavors. to me, I was more concerned and focused solely on the taste and always used Gatorade with a flavored bcaa.
this time, I wanted to focus solely on the bcaa's and would just deal with the taste. I didn't want to start sipping and fall in love with the taste or say "yea this must be working because it taste great"

the taste is not bad, not a heavy tart, bite or bad after taste. used 1 scoop and filled it up with 20 oz of water

today was heavy back Monday- hammer strength machines- high iso rows, low iso rows, and iso rows

rev peck deck, pull ups, finish off with t bar barbell rows - close grip ( I usually cycle through the last 3, so today was this order)

high, low and iso rows all sets were the same with the increase of wgt after the warm up- 1 min to 1: 30 in between sets
90x12; 135 x 12; 180 x 8; 225 x 6- I will say that normally by the time I get to the rows with the hammer strength, I am pumped and starting to get gased and need little more time in between sets.
by the time I was on my third set of low iso rows, I was still good to go- was 3/4 of way done with the bottle. finished it just before my last set of rev peck deck.

I had the energy I needed to finish my sets- 12 x 135- 2 sets then 10 x 165 2 sets
pull ups 3 sets of 10
t bar- this time was a little different- I started with 25 lbs and did 15 reps, put on another 25 and did 15 more- did this till I got to 150 with 8 reps. when I was done and ready to leave, i felt pretty good. normally i am ready to go, but today if i had more time, i would have done pull downs or cable rows.

this mornings breakfast was 1 bagel, 1 cup of coffee and 3 egg whites with cheese, all finished at 815 this morning. 2 glasses of water and the bcaa's

ate this way to see if the bcaa's would be helpful or not- will have different food tomorrow-

so was the dieselade worth it? for me, absolutely it was. based on the diet i had with the workout i had (less than 5 hours sleep last night, that's another story) i never would have lasted.

lets see what tomorrow brings

Sounds like you gave it a good test drive !!

indeed- for tomorrow, as i mentioned i will be increasing the intake of food so, not that i was really in a fasted state but i personally want to judge myself how much the bcaa's are helping.

as far as im concerned, they are

Good to know!

I hate lime anything. But this product 3/4 scoop in 20oz water doesnt taste like tequila like when i normally have lime. ....and it does smell like some cupcake mix or something. No like shampoo and acid like most bcaas. Powder is not dyed to hell neither. Aminoject on right. Dieselade on left

nice addition Ant- not meaning a bash, just good add to the thread.

most of here are not scientist or have PHd's in health, but a very good % of us are in tune with their bodies. This was one of the reasons (as mentioned above) i choose very intake this morning and chose the flavor combo. to really put the bcaa test to the test for me.

choosing Chuck's product was my own decision. again, i am not a sponsor of chucks, A Minds rep or on any other forum. so the only thing i have to gain from this test are gains.

I know a lot of people were questioning the study almost immediately.
