BCAA

Is there any real benefit consuming a basic bcaa product preworkout? I like adding to some carb powder pre and maybe I notice better recovery/ less muscle soreness. But again is more of a convenient thing not a necessity. Curious as studies and personal opinion is all over the place. Thank you

I’m curious as well. I use EAA powder and I think it has a very small benefit for MPS and recovery. I just keep doing it because I can get them cheap and I like having it infra workout and tastes good.

I think the better you are at hitting protein targets the less important it is.

Yes that is what I'm hearing. Guess I always see them on clearance for pennies but if not worth it I'll skip

Im under the same impression, if you are getting enough protein you are probably ok without. I do take BCAAs because I workout so early before my first meal. For halfnattyman, as far as intra goes, from my understanding is that BCAAs are the only 3 aminos branched, meaning they bypass the liver better. So they would be preferred over EAAS intra workout. I’m not sure how long it takes EAAs to metabolize, but grok is saying they digest pretty quick too. So probably almost as good. I do personally think EAAs are a big trend right now, if you can find them cheap then good but I’ve seen some pretty crazy prices for just EAAs.

I stick to 6-8 grams of leucine peptides (50% leucine) but again if you’re eating plenty of food no need to .

I have heard that the benefits if you have a good diet is limited. I have come to the belief if the flavoring helps you drink more water the limited benefits are worth it. If you don’t need them then spend the money on other items.

if it tastes good and has some electrolytes (as xtend, for example), I don’t even think it’s a waste of money.
Sometimes you’re craving something sweet and drinking some BCAA powder does the job + some hydration
As everyone else said, if you’re eating enough protein, most people believe the BCAAs themselves don’t offer any extra benefit, and I’m one of those
But be happy, man. If it tastes good, enjoy your harmless drink. I do it myself too. Some green apple Xtend on iced water is heavenly

I actually do this but with electrolyte drinks. “Per4m Hydrate” is incredible if anyone is after a solid electrolyte drink 👍
