I see that a lot of people take or suggest taurine and potassium. Is there anything else besides these two that can really help? How much of each should be taken and how often?

for me

500mg magnesium
3-5g taurine
tons of water.

potassium for back pumps work for some, usually just a banana with the taurine.
 
water, taurine, magnesium, bananas and electrolytes. try drinking gatorade or powerade before or during workouts..that helps also.
 
im the only one who ever suggest quinine for these kinds of pumps/ muscle cramps. taurine is good too and has other funtions, but quinine is where its at (tonic water, you can get diet tonic water too, on the bottle it says with Quinine)

ahhh crap i forgot about that. good call. hey it also glows in a black light lol. sumin i forgot also, pedialyte...

I just did some quick research on Quinine. It seems to be suggested on some forums and there is some scientific research to back it up. Great post.

Do you drink the tonic water preworkout or durning? Also is this something that needs to be taken like 2 or 3 times a day to be affective?

i would say let it become flat, and drink it through out the day, but dont drink the carbonation during the workout,
