Avatar size limits

B5150

Legend
I noticed recently that the size limit for avatars is 50 x 50 pix. But it seems that our old avatars were grandfathered in regardless of size. My previous one was somewhere around 150 x 150 but it was still visible dispite the board size limit settings. I recently removed it with the plan of uploading a new one. The 50 x 50 sure is a small size. And to further my disapointment, I now cannot even re-upload the one I had. It's a minor issue, but a fun way to create a more personalized identity.

Can the avatar size limit be increased to a little more generous size?

Interesting. A Grey Member has 250x250 and a Gold Member has 50x50.

I possed the question as a "to whom it may concern". Concern, in this case, would be interpreted (in the event that they even cared to read this) as the one (or someone) who has the authority or power to address and/or adjust this value.

Thank you! :)

Hey B, I've asked Matt D to look into it for you. It's an admin function that I do not have control over.

I had the same problem recently...thanks for mentioning it.. :)

Hey,
If any of you are able and/or willing, I need a favor. Save a copy of my avatar picture to your PC. Edit it so it is a trasparency, removing the white background leaving only the "5150". I used to be able to do it myself, but the new computer does not have the program I am used to working with (Microsoft Photo).

I will leave the thread open so you can post it back here as an attachment/image.

Thanks a lot...in adavance.

dammit, I thought maybe there was a png file out there. Unless someone knows more, it's a bitch to do b/c the white isn't all the same white to make transparent.

I can do it if/when I make it home tonight or tomorrow morning, unless someone does it before me.

Uh, tell me how to do it, and I will help you out.
if i recall correctly, in microsoft photoshop, you click on the transparancy icon (menu bar) and then you place your curser on the color (background) that you want transparent. It the makes the back ground into a checkerboard (transparent view). I have it at home, so I may try it myself, unless someone gets to it before me. :)
