Hmm, not sure I know too many PLs with respectable squat #s who have pencil legs. In fact, PL over the past couple years has made it difficult for me to find pants that actually fit. I would advocate spending time and effort building functional strength by heavy squatting and deadlifting (muscle growth will occur) than laying down and cranking out rep after rep of leg presses any day. This is not to discount the article, as I find a lot of his suggested exercises to be a great option in the arsenal for rotation of "big lifts".
