As always, an interesting and enlightening article by Mr. Brainum. The human body maintains homeostasis by regulating its internal metabolic functions so that all systems function harmoniously regardless of external forces.
 
Seriously...a Palin cheapshot? WTF does that have to do with an otherwise good article? Nothing. Science based articles shouldn't have unsubstantiated opinions on other matters inserted.
