I don't stretch at all and I believe it's overrated but ...
The article kind of slams "warm-ups" too. THAT - I do disagree with somewhat. I know some overdo warmups - but I can tell you, as a 50 year old man - they help.
I really don't think the article takes into account "weakest link" kind of holistic thinking. Sure ... looking at a healthy muscle - maybe it doesn't need to be warmed up too much.
However, what about a guy with herniated disks or chronic tendonitis - or any other of the innumerable ailments that afflict weight lifters? What about the fact that a warmup reacquaints your body with the proper form for completing an exercise before it's fully loaded to max capacity? I don't know anyone who weights a bar to 500 lbs and then performs a deadlift on it cold.
Warmups have their place.
