Article: Egg Yolks And Coronary Artery Disease

Ruxton told FoodNavigator: “What they are not thinking about is, is it a causal or unrelated association? They haven’t corrected for other factors that could have created plaque. The person who has fried eggs for breakfast may also have butter on their toast [for example].”

EXACTLY!

The average person who consumes whole eggs usually has them on a roll or white bread with bacon and cheese and ketchup. Usually cooked in butter especially if ordered from a deli or diner.

This new study should have asked about the patients' consumption of white breads, sugary drinks, cheeses, butter, and bacon as well.

Garbage.

^exactly, why are eggs always the culprit? They are at least a whole food. They need to do a study on all the processes crap

i eat 7 whole eggs everyday... my cholest is fine, i think its processed stuff that does it too you... or maybe they eat whole eggs and no veggies or dont drink water... there are so many variables

The article is not available for free, but the abstract is on PubMed. I don't have enough posts to post a link....

Take note of the last sentence in the abstract, "This hypothesis should be tested in a prospective study with more detailed information about diet, and other possible confounders such as exercise and waist circumference."

Another thing, look at the conflicts of interest on the study:

“Dr Spence and Dr Davignon have received honoraria and speaker’s fees from several pharmaceutical companies manufacturing lipid-lowering drugs, and Dr Davignon has received support from Pfizer Canada for an annual atherosclerosis symposium; his research has been funded in part by Pfizer Canada, AstraZeneca Canada Inc and Merck Frosst Canada Ltd.“

Follow the money....

Of course its all the greasy sausages, processed bacon, loads of butter they cook eggs in. Eggs I find are amazing--besides, I thought this debates been over and done with? If not, pick out some athletes who eat a clean diet and include lots of eggs with yolks before releasing another dubious? article.

More and more research is showing a correlation between type 2 diabetics and cholesterol/BP/heart disease. High GI/refined carbohydrates are a main factor in heart disease.

Just like other readers,I happen to eat at LEAST 6-12 eggs /day,and have been doing this for many many years.
I call bull**** and other factors in the study as being the culprit in the negative aspects to the heart.
