Article: 4 Gym Machines That Need To Die

Yeah, a strength athlete such as myself would never want to use the adductor & abductor machines to help warm anything up to avoid injury before squatting or pulling, as part of a larger comprehensive warmup. And I'd certainly never want to use it to pump some nourishing blood into a strained adductor from said deadlifting. No, I definitely want to be doing lateral lunges at all times, even when injured. My knees definitely need the extraneous punishment I'd have saved if I just used the machine.

I know the author is trying to keep people from wasting their time or getting hurt, but there are applications for everything. Just another bullsh*t fitness article churned out to make a buck.

I use the seated ab machine all the time. Its hard to target the mid abs and this one does it perfectly. But that being said, I don't do it to "get abs", that comes with diet and low bf%. I do it to strengthen my core so my squats and dead lifts stay strong and safe.

But I also do leg raises and oblique cable crunches to target the other areas.

Thanks button isn't available. So true though. Just about everything in this article does have a use. And besides who doesn't like seeing the chick in yoga pants spreading her legs for all to enjoy her camel toe! Author is obviously a chick that's offended by men looking!!

There's a few NPC competitors around here, and one of the pros is often at both my gyms training guys. Seen him do some stuff with machines that blew my mind. Barbell basics will go a long way, and nothing trumps them. But there is a reason (beyond marketing) for a lot of SPECIALIZED exercises and equipment.

Unfortunately the abs don't work that way. They either contract from top to bottom, or vice versa. Training the "middle" abs is like training the "inner" pecs: not feasible.
