Are we psychologically addicted to supplements

it seems like the immense amount of supplements that some of the guys take on here is overkill. i have seen some pre workout stacks of about 6 or 7 sups. If it takes that much to get ready to work out maybe working out is not for you. i have also seen people that think cutting is something that comes in a bottle. sometimes i look at my supplement drawer and i see all the bottles that i have collected and i question myself too. anyone else wonder this.

my name is douche and i am addicted to supplements. lmao

I believe MANY people on this board are.

...and I am too at times.

depends on the supps and the person imo. Some people stack really stupid ****, but supps play a role in bb. Personally I stopped taking most of these new fad supps like CEE cuz they suck imo.

Everything sucks in your opinion.

that is what i do as well now, i don't take anything unless it has been on the market for years. a prime example of this is ala. if ala did not work(which has been concluded by some sup companies) why did they take the time to make r-ala. and if that did not work why did they make the k-r-ala? i sometimes look at the new sups with wide eyes but i have to just take a deep breathe and go back to the non hyped up tried and true sups.

protein
carbs
ala
creatine
multi
fish oil

even that is 6 sups which would be considered a **** load by a normal person

That's gonna leave a mark :hammer:

I boarder at times addicted (dependent) to E/C but that is it.

Fish Oil
Olive Oil
NAC
ALA
Multi-V
Vit: C, E

all are main staples for health.

I'm not addicted to supps, just steroids....although I think it's starting to get a little better.

The only supps I use consistently are:

Egg White protein powder
V12 Turbo (take a break every now and then)
multi

**And every so often I'll try out something new or something that I've never used before.

I've tried MANY supps in the past. And obviously they weren't worth the cost...or otherwise they'd be listed up top withe the rest of my consistent supps. ;)

thats what i meant...you have to seperate what b1510 calls "staples for health" and some of this new garbage coming out or even stuff that has been out now. Stuff I still take......

Multi
Fish oils
Flax seed oils
Whey
Micellar casien
MRP's (prolab's lean mass matrix and MHP's up your mass)----both are good ****

I agree, some people put way to much emphasis on supplements and not enough on diet and training. There are a few must have supplements for me anyways. Protein powder, because it's just so convienent. Multi's because I doubt I get them from whole foods and plus It makes me feel better psychologically. I could stop there, but I throw in some healthy fats (flax, fish) for good measure. Every once in awhile I try something new, but I come to realize it really didn't do much for me except lighten my wallet. I'm the type of person who wants to see results, I guess that's why steroids are so previlant in today's society. Because they work...really well!

I wouldn't say I'm addicted. As with cars, I just enjoy fucking around with things to see what happens and what works for increasing performance. The only supplements I take regulary are EFAs, a multi, protein powder and some form of creatine. Sometimes arginine because I love pumps. Everything else I've tried is just a case of, "Let me take this and see what happens." But there is an alure to trying to squeeze every possible bit you can out of any machine, including your own body. Especially for people who are close to or at their genetic limits already. To me it's similar to guys who put thousands upon thousands of dollars into upgrading a Honda Civic to the point where it'll barely compete with a stock V8 car that, in the end, actually would cost less than the Honda plus the extras.

Right now I'm also taking Custom's Power Jolt/Enlighten stack in addition to my usual stuff. I'm working out mostly in the mornings now, and I take it then because no matter how much sleep I've gotten, I am NOT a morning person. Although one good thing is my agression gets real high real quick in the morning simply because I'm annoyed at having to wake up.

Basically after a lot of screwing around I realized, like a lot of you apparently, that supplements without a good foundation of diet and training are supplementing ****. I guess it's a foolish man who built his house on the sand. Too many people really on this or that to get an edge or reach the next level, meanwhile they'd be past that point already if they just ate and trained right.

Bobo, you gotta admit, there is a lot of bad products coming out these days.

There has always been a lot bad products out there but just because it doesn't work for you doens't mean it sucks. CEE doesn't suck. M1t doesnt suck and the other stuff that hasn't worked for you (which seems to be a lot) doesn't necessarily suck.

true true, I just dont get it, i never seem to feel anything from the stuff I buy. For example, I got nothing from........

CEE
NeuroStim
Di-arginine Malate
m1,4add
Superdrol

I am really just pissed about the wasted money. I know I should keep my opinion to myself, but I cant help it sometimes. Sorry.

I wouldn't say keep your opinion to yourself. With the general lack of reliable science on a lot of stuff you want as much user feedback as possible available. I just wouldn't necessarily say something sucks because it didn't work for me or for you, but does seem to work very well for others. A nonresponder's experience is useful because sometimes you can sort of pin down a reason why they may not have responded. Sometimes it can be corrected, sometimes not. Point is information is valuable.

Yes I think a lot of people are addicted to supplements. I for one go back and forth from heavy supplement use, to very little supplement use. I don't use them as a crutch, I mainly just use them because I enjoy trying new things, and to see what may give me that edge. I'm very interested in bodybuilding, and supplementation is a part of it.

Glen--I thought someone might say that, but my diet and training are in check for the most part. Even if they werent great, I would still think I would have gotten something from the m14add or the Super. I was taking 280mg ed on the m14add and 30mg ed of Super at the highest dose (not at the same time of course)

I'm with NPursuit on this. I go back and forth, sometimes trying new things to see how they work. However, I stick with my staples:
Mulit-V
Fish Oil
Green Tea
Chromium P
Protein
Creatine (off and on)

280mg!!! Bro, I gained 20lbs in 3 weeks on only 40-50mg of m1,4. At least half was water, but DAMN!! You sure you got legit stuff back then? I actually prefer M 1,4 diol over dbol itself. Less sides, more gains, too bad it's now banned.

40-50mg is pretty low, Leanone told me he like it in the 250-300mg range so that is what I tried. I didnt gain 1 lb.

wow, that sucks man. That's hard to understand. You'd think you'd have gained at least some water. Hmmm....

... freaking love supps. Definitely have to check myself from time to time. But yeah, I'm a card carrying supp addict. I can live with that....

IMO, taking a lot of supps, depending what you consider to be a lot, can be addicting, but not bad IMO as long as the person has diet & training in check & getting bloodwork to check nothing is out of whack. The sad thing is when people rely on supps or gear to do all the work while they eat fast food, train like **** and sleep 5 hours a night.

I personally have used and like: trans 1-T & 4-AD, injectable 1-T Cyp and 4-AD Cyp, creatine, EC, Absolved, trans 7-oxo,

My health supps include: NAC, milk thistle, celery seed, hawthorne, C & E, multi vitamin and mineral, red rice yeast, fish oil.

Future supps im gonna try are Lean Extreme and Superdrol and maybe CEE with HMB for a cut.

Earlier this semester between staying up late to study and dieting, I really felt like I was addicted to caffeine. Kinda scary ****. I haven't had any in about 2 weeks, and damn do my leg workouts suffer without it.

My list looks the same as Cuffs. The psychological dependance can be kind of scary when you step back and examine it. Days when I have run out of protein powder and the UPS truck hasn't dropped off my next load, my workouts suffer. I know in my mind missing a pre-workout shake shouldn't have an affect on my lifting, but it does. It creeps into your mind that without it, this day was wasted and you drag more and more. Maybe I'm just really sick in the head...

Only to the supplement industry....The only supplement I would say is needed is a multi-vitamin, and believe it or not people can even go without that.

Some people will just respond with that type of answer because they just don't know what to say. I say if you don't respond to something, you just don't respond. Its as simple as that. Sure if someone hasn't gotten there diet down correctly they will have significantly less results than someone who does...But if your not getting any kind of response whatsoever from you body by taking in a certain drug or supplement, chances are by changing you diet your not going to get anything elese.
