Anyone worried if Corona virus keeps spreading the gyms will shut down?

Governor Cuomo said today he doesn’t see the economy opening in 2 or 3 weeks and if Trump issues an order to do so he will fight it in Federal court. I can see this getting ugly real quick with a fight going all the way to the Supreme Court over state rights verse the rights of the Executive Branch of the Federal government. Obviously I am for opening it up, but I am a Federalist so I don’t think Trump has legal ground to stand on when he says he has the authority to override a state governor’s decision for stay at home orders. I could easily see Trump ordering states to reopen May 1 at least in part and some states not doing so and a fight ensuing. Love Trump or hate Trump I think his re-election hinges on how well his decision on this plays out whatever route he chooses to go. If he orders it closed another month and the economy crashes beyond its ability to recover before his re-election he is doomed. If he opens it up and the virus runs everywhere he is also doomed.

before this is over AMERICA will have changed...many businesses could go under and a whole lot of AMERICANS might not have jobs to go back to...my priority is taking care of AMERICAN CITIZENS!!!

with the kind of debt we are running up I see many needed cuts coming to programs that help needy AMERICAN CITIZENS...we need to look out for our own as 1st priority!!!!
 
Interesting federalism debate can come out of this (and the money)

If the federal government shut down the economy, they are expected to pay people and businesses they forced to stop working. If the federal government shut them down, the federal government can open them back up.

If it was the Governors orders that shut down businesses, then it is the individual state governments to pay their people for the time they were forced not to work by their state governments.

Trump can sit back and have the last laugh on that one??
 
Figure since this is the Corona thread this question is appropriate here-Anybody get their relief check yet? I haven’t, but from what I read a lot of them wont be deposited until tomorrow.

According to the CDC, it's killing 4 out of every 100 Americans who tested positive for it. There are undoubtedly some people who never get tested for it due to being asymptomatic, or only slightly/moderately symptomatic, who don't die, and don't get counted as people who have it, which leads to an overly high death rate. But the same can be argued for the flu as well; not everyone who gets the flu gets tested and is found to have it in a test, so those flu death rates would also be similarly high. So if you're making ad hoc adjustments to the COVID death rate, you must logically do the same for the flu death rate. My point being that this virus is irrefutably stronger/worse/deadlier than the normal flu, even if it's not 4% deadly.

I'm pretty sure I've had it my girlfriends had it my son's had it and several people at my work I've had it. For most people its not worth the hassle. The ones that are dying and getting tested are the ones that are having significant problems. this thing is so contagious I bet a majority of the population has already had it or was exposed just was not tested.

I agree it's serious and I agree we need to take measures but I think there's a lot of fear involved with people looking at numbers in death ratios that are unnecessary. I don't live my life in fear of that nonsense. I'll do what suggested and I'll take my chances

This is the Tocilizumab that @Ricky10 was saying they are using in his hospital now. It's being tried and has some promising results.

I am a big proponent of Vitamin C and D of course.

How do you know any of you had it? You got tested? How do you know it wasn't the normal flu, or any number of other illnesses?

I promise you the "MAJORITY of the population" has NOT already had it. That's an asinine claim...

Like a month or more ago. Started with gastro like bad. Went to Dr they told me I had stomach flu (a majority of symptoms start with gastro symptoms) which a lot of people don't know. Then I developed sores in my mouth and nose like an infection. It lasted weeks and was def affecting my breathing some. My GF developed a sickness that put her down 3 days then developed a cough that still hasn't completely subsided. After a month it's still there minimally and she also had periods of breathing issues. For people with minimal or less severe symptoms this is what it looks like. I wasn't tested I know I had it lol and prob 1/3 of my work. All out for some days w the same symptoms. That's the carona dog.

This virus has been around they're saying they can trace cases back to last year. Ny supposedly came from Europe and they have documented cases that they now know was the carona from the end of last year.

that said I honestly think Trump and our country has done a good job of limiting contact and trying to keep it from spreading. Give credit where credit's due. If you saw the briefing with Trump in the reporters he gave them the bis. Say what you want about Trump but I think he handled all this pretty well.

The stimulus money all Trump. And you have other countries around the world who followed suit. Let's flood the economy to jump start it. That's Trump business ingenuity

Lol. Thank you, man. Not to mention common viral bronchitis takes 3+ weeks to clear and will usually start with a URI or coryza and/or rhinorrhea which can lead to a sore throat. I love everyone that has had a cough or runny nose in the last 3 months claiming theyve already had covid and it “wasnt shît, bro”. Its hilarious.

my friend went to ER yesterday[cut his finger on a jigsaw]...he said everyone had to get temperature checked outside door before entering...what would have happened if he had a fever?

They wouldve put a mask on him and probably tested him for covid if he had any symptoms consistent with covid. Perhaps he would’ve been placed in a negative pressure room if they had one available. Maybe another type of special room with physical walls instead of curtains as a divider between patients - depends on your local ER. Nothing more, unless he required it based on his signs and symptoms.

I feel fine. 80% of the patients out there have no symptoms. That describes all of my symptoms perfectly. This ain't ****.
