there is a bunch of protein recipes there

I found this one interesting......ONLY b/c most low carb options automatically compesnate with high fat. I get tons of fat in per day so that made this one sort of appealing for those days where I just need to add protein to hit my for macros that particular day.

Here's a super simple recipe for home made protein bars/cookies that are fat free and carb free.

Technically it is just your whey but in a clean, portable, snackable form:

Ingredients
1/3 cup Inulin 100%
1/3 cup Z-sweet/Stevia
1 and 1/2 cup of whey of your choice
2 egg whites
1/4 cup greek fat free yogurt
1 tsp vanilla flavor

Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 F.

Mix egg whites, yogurt and vanilla in a container (no mixer, use spoon or fork)

In a separate container, mix with a spoon all the dry ingredients.
Add wet ingredients, stir only until moistened.
Use baking paper and spread the mixture evenly over it.

Bake for 8/10 minutes. Enjoy

Agreed. Usually do. :D

I'm a low carber so I use a lot of coconut oil and almond flour and flax meal etc.

Lots of all natty peanut and almond butter too.

All healthy but lots of fat and hence kcal! Haha albeit "healthy ones"!

What things you want to make low carb? Just use lower fat alternative like egg whites found in most recipes.

Used to use lots of almond flour for gluten free/lower carb but now I'm hooked on coconut flour, depending on the recipe. Live the taste it gives, been making low carb sweetbreads with it

Same here man!

For some recipes, an almond/flax/coconut flour blend is just plain GOOD

I have made that recipe before and it is quite good.

whats the texture of almond/flax/coconut flour compared to regular?

Almond has larger bits typically, it doesn't rise quite as well so more dense with a bit of crunch.

Flax isn't a favourite of mine at most I will add some into a mix for fibre/healthy fats. Its gritty.

Coconut is my favourite now by far but it needs to be a recipe that either masks or would be complimented by the taste, Makes a mean coconut pastry bread. Very light and fluffy powder for how much fibre it packs, I use an organic brand in bulk from Costco

Driven2Lift nailed it. I feel the same.

Not to get too far off subject but I am calling BS on the ingredient list on this product

These (low carb and paleo almond crackers) things taste GREAT

Well, I tried to copy the recipe from the ingredient list and failed miserably. You need SOMETHING to make these items "stick" together whether its butter/oil or egg or SOMETHING!

Agreed that recipe doesn't look possible. Needs an oil or butter at least.

Anything paleo is a joke IMO not much merit to eating that way unless you have intolerances to things I know Alan Aragon has destroyed paleo in his research

Paleo is too extreme, aside from an allergy or intolerance I don't think any food should be eliminated from the diet. Final weeks of contest prep if you feel better dropping dairy/gluten then sure but otherwise its a waste.

Some of the basic principles are good, eating organic and natural foods should be done whenever possible Paleo or not.

I am starting to agree with u the more and more I learn about it. There are certainly a few sensible components I extract and espouse though.

I think the "no wheat" concept (certainly not unique to/from paleo) is interesting. "Refined" Wheat makes me blow up. Belly gets big. Sprouted grains/wheat - not so much. Interesting to say the least!

Alan Aragon while an excellent reviewer, is basically a contrarian. He hasnt destroyed anything

And before you send me his pdf presentation, I have already read it. He attacks the stances and the positions of the fanatics within the paleo movement. One could very well do the same to his IIFYM crowd by attacking the poptart obsessed fanatics within it.

IIFYM has nothing to do with poptarts, it has to do with meeting micronutrient goals, fiber, fat, and protein minimums which he does address:
Some have more leeway/room to add things once their minimums are met (Maintain/bulking) some do not (cutting) and in reaching those totals with their sources based off their intake. One who is 4 weeks out may not be able too (unless on a refeed), while one in an offseason may be able to fit a few in.

A good example:
Alberto Nunez is really hurting eating poptarts daily while he sure looks out of shape and also while cutting. Could say the same for many others like Tommy jeffers who dieted on over 200+G of carbs when he won his pro-card and did utilize poptarts in his dieting tactics(not saying everyday) but still along the lines of IIFYM and has his video series on youtube with Layne Norton regarding it. Some people take the acronym to the far extreme when in reality its basically based off whole foods first and foremost with a premise on micronutrients.

You really missed the point and got hung up on my pop tart comment.

The point is, Alan Aragons critique of a "paleo diet" is baseless and borderline starwman-ish. He is criticizing the fanatics (minority) and transferring those critiques onto the rest of the diet (majority). I pop tart comment was meant to illustrate that the same "destroying" he did to the paleo diet can be done to his IIFYM diet, which you have just acknowledged here

Some people take the acronym to the far extreme

By the way, dont understand why you felt the need to add the picture or name drop. Neither of those tactics work to validate anything

Going to bust out a low-carb recipe tomorrow, see how they come out

Real life experience compared to what some people perceive of the acronym, and showing how using different sources does work while still IIFYM (and how these individuals find success on a competition level as well). the same could be said with people who eat nothing but oats, chicken, rice, and broccoli to IIFYM. People just "take it to the extreme" and try to find the dumbest ways to hit their macros with getting no fiber, not meeting fat, and barley meeting or meeting protein while getting a very inconsistent amount of vitamins/minerals in their diet. Which seems to be a downfall now n days to people who get into the IIFYM fad.

nice! I look forward to them. Hopefully it will be something portable that I can bring to school and snack on between classes ;)

People just "take it to the extreme"......

Yes and exactly my point. His critique is on fanatics and one can critique any diet if their are limiting their view of the diet. This is far from "destroying" something. For example in his presentations he states paleo followers prohibit nightshade vegetables like potatoes in their diet. This is simply not true for the majority. Hell even Sisson is ok with people consuming potatoes and he is a low carb paleo guy.

Actually this will be
in the oven now

25 F / 30 C / 60 P

but you can lower the CHO and FAT by not using SF/FF pudding mix, Psyllium Husk Powder, PB Lean (Basically PB2) and using more egg whites.
