Anxiety and how to help calm it

I have been dealing with a similar issue the past 3 months. Except for me it is heart palpitations. I did some research and I did read that there is a phenomenon where you can be extremely anxious and depressed but not even realize it or "feel it". Im guessing its caused by desensitization to the feeling of being anxious over time, even though the stressors that are in your environment havent changed or may have even gotten worse.

This makes a lot of sense personally for me. I feel like a new person on stablon/tianeptine. But when I'm not taking anything for a long time, I feel like nothing is really wrong....possibly because I've self medicated for a long time with good ol mary jane :)

I don't notice its short half life, but I only use the stuff occasionally to up my moods when they are low. Normally 1 dose during the day is enough to reset my thoughts if I am low or have bad anxiety. I may only use it (tianeptine) once or twice a week.

Whenever I do a one-off dose for a bit of a reset, I usually take about 50mg or so (fwiw). If following the standard 3x per day dosing protocol, I would take 12.5mg x 2 in AM, 12.5 x 2 around noon, and 12.5 late afternoon. A standard pill of stablon is 12.5mg. Servier (the manufacturer) recommends 12.5mg 3x per day but I and many others find this to be far underdosed.

Yep...for reset purposes I often go with 1x 50mg dose. I use the bulk powder with a scoop so probably not that accurate, but despite this it always works great. I have never capped it, but always mix it with juice, so taste never an issue.

When you used bulk tianeptine, did you use a scale or a small scoop to measure the approximate amount per dose? My order came with a small blue scoop that says 1 scoop is equal to 2-7 mg (for powders similar to flour...which tianeptine appears to be). I'm just curious if you (or anyone else) has compared the accuracy of that measurement to that obtained from a scale...and whether the aforementioned amount is a packed scoop, rounded scoop, etc.

The scoop can be a bit inaccurate so I've always used a digital scale. 2-7mg is a pretty broad range. I use a mg scale that's accurate to the microgram.

I haven't had chest pain until recently, but it's while I've had anxiety from Norcodrene that I just started again a few days ago.
But more interestingly, you can have chest pain from flatulence?! I feel like I'm missing something here...

You can have gas pains under your ribs. I'd guess that what he's referring too ;)

I´m not the best person to talk about it but I´ve read some cases about trapped gas causing what it´s looks like a sharp pain in the chest/pain, almost like an heart attack..

I received Tieneptine powder yesterday but i´m still waiting for the miligram scale.

Today i tried with a 0.01mg scale but i think that isn´t really accurate at low weights. However i weighed about 50mg and divided that in 8 doses and took one. I like to start slowly.

So far i notice a mild calmness but some anxiety is still there and the worst part.. the phobias.. and the fear of having a panic attack. And lately i´m sleeping very bad and passing many many time on the computer, so i´m lightheaded, so today is too soon to face some new challenges.

I know the dose i took is really underdosed, but as soon as i get the new scale, i start to take those 12.5mg x 3 to see how it´s going.

Yeah, I might have to get one. I was hoping to get around that as it seems like it would add a lot more time to the process of filling capsules. I didn't know if there was maybe an approximate dosage that could be obtained just by using the provided blue scoop (such as maybe one level scoop equaling approximately 2 mg, one packed scoop 5 mg and one heaping scoop 7 mg).

Yeah, that sounds like what I've been experiencing over the past week; only a few times though and doesn't last too long. Heart attacks don't happen over several days, right?

No if you were having a heart attack you would know.

Yup this is why I hate filling capsules, it's very difficult to be very accurate. The most accurate way of dosing the bulk powder is to measure out 1 amount of powder and mix it with water (or a special solvent) and keep refrigerated. I do this, and usually mix up about 2 weeks worth of doses into a small bottle. I just shake it up before use and dose with an oral syringe.

Great thread. Enjoying the no BS candid feedback.

While that is a great alternative for dosing tianeptine, I prefer the convenience of capsules since I can just carry them in my pocket and take them when needed (especially during the work week since I travel a lot for my job). Until I get a scale, I will probably just stick with two packed scoops of tianeptine per dose. That "should" keep me around the recommended dose. However, I may adjust this based on the effects.

For me, the small amount that changes the effect of tianeptine makes it well worth having prepacked capsules and the convenience is obviously a benefit.

Yeah, dosing can definitely be an issue here. My initial impression is kind of mixed. I've taken 1 packed scoop twice so far (one last night with dinner and one this morning with breakfast) and noticed a slight improvement in mood (may have been placebo) and a little less anxiety. I tried doubling that (2 packed scoops) for the dose with lunch today and have had bad brain fog for the last few hours (no change in mood but even less anxiety).

edit: decided to drop back down to one packed scoop per dose and stick with that for a while...at least until I either buy a scale or order encapsulated tianeptine from SDFT.

That brain fog will go away and higher doses will feel recreational with a great euphoric feeling.

As nice as that may seem, I'd prefer a more sustainable and long-term anti-depressent/anti-anxiety effect. I don't trust things that feel euphoric or make me too happy. It just feels too foreign...if that makes sense.

Edit: just wanted to mention that someone in another forum measured it multiple times using the same blue scoop and it averaged 4 mg (packed and leveled). So, the two scoops I took earlier should have been below the recommended dose. I'll continue to use that dose then and see if the brain fog goes away in a few days.

Oh, I get it for sure. I was just pointing out about moving up in dose. I think the 12mg dose is perfect for it's intended purpose and I just feel like I am getting into the real benefits now after 3-4 weeks. It is remarkable how well it works to remove all stress.

Have any of you tried Kratom for your anxiety? I know a lot of people use it multiple times a day everyday and love it but your tolerance goes up.

Has anyone had any experience with Zembrin?

Supposedly good for:

Increase of Cognitive Function
Promotes Increased Attention
Reduces Stress and Anxiety
Mood-Enhancing

Never heard of it. Thanks for bringing it up.

Has anyone that's used Tianeptine experienced extreme nausea/dizziness? If so, how long before that side effect went away? I had a total of only approximately 16 mg spread throughout yesterday. The nausea/dizziness started yesterday afternoon (about an hour after the approximate 8 mg dose) and steadily got worse. It was so bad this morning that I couldn't get out of bed for a few hours. Even Dramamine didn't help. Finally had to take a prescription anti-nausea pill that my wife had.

Hrm no definitely nothing like this even on 75mg. 16mg is a very low dose to be getting sides like this. Are you taking anything else?

Just a multivitamin during the day and magnesium/melatonin at night (been taking those for more than 6 months).

edit: forgot to mention that I did stop taking both ashwagandha and lithium orotate a couple days ago. I wonder if they were still in my system and the tianeptine reacted with one of them.

Lithium orotate made me feel very nauseous over time actually. Not sure if that is it though, as it's not a common thing. I took it for a couple months and it eventually made me feel nauseous / loss of appetite. It took a couple weeks to normalize after I stopped.

That could be it. Either way I'm going to stop everything for a bit to let my system reset before starting tianeptine again. I probably just needed a longer wash-out period before starting something new.

Okay so I have been having a really bad time sleeping lately. I can fall asleep okay, but I wake up multiple times a night and it seems like I am almost halfway in a dream still and I can't wake up or continue sleeping or really even chill out until I solve some math problem or other kind of problem, which is usually something to do with something I have been studying, working on, or reading about. The only way to get back to sleep is if I get up, go pee, get a drink, walk around a little. During that time I feel wide awake and as if I could stay awake. This has been happening 3 or more times a night lately probably averaging 4 nights a week.

But by the time it is morning I can not wake up for the life of me and I feel tired most days. One night I literally woke up every hour on the hour from 2am to 7am. I know my sleeping habits aren't great, I go to bed between 12-2am every night and wake up between 9-11am, but they never have been and it hasn't been this bad before. Any ideas?

I am not sure what to recommend here except for some natural sleep aids. I definitely feel your pain. I am very prone to insomnia as my brain does not want to shut off at night. What I've been told really helps is meditation, but I have no idea where to start with this. Those closest I've ever come to mediation has been yoga. That seemed to help though. Meditation is supposed to be very good for anxiety sufferers though.

My first thought is are you having any stimulants 6 hours or closer to bed time?
Maybe they need to be even farther from bed time then that; for example, I can't have caffeine later then 3pm.

Otherwise, I rotate between Valerian root, melatonin, and MRM Relax-All. Every night I take theanine, taurine, and ZMA. Works for me.

No stimulants close to bed time.. I need to try out a sleep aid. I have tried Melatonin, 5 HTP, Valerian Root, Benadryl, Doxylamine Succinate, stuff like that but nothing has helped really.

I'm surprised a good dose of Valerian doesn't help. 5-10 grams taurine will probably do it with 200-400 mg theanine. But if not, try MRM Relax-All at 4 caps.

The Valerian is fairly old, but I took a little extra than the bottle said. It made my sleep worse though, I didn't fall asleep for 5 hours after taking it.

Likewise... most things help me fall asleep, but until 4am I usually keep waking up a bunch. Right now I have started taking GH releasing compounds and supplements, this should help a great deal to increase sleep quality. I gave MJ a rest otherwise this works great for sleep quality.

What stimulants do you take and what time?

One or two cups of coffee a day, usually none after 6pm. I will sometimes take a small scoop of pre workout that has AMP in it with Caffeine and other things, but that is only once or twice a week and no later than 6pm as well. I don't get ready to go to bed until after 12pm most nights.

Also, do you take anything like Alcar? That ruins sleep quality for some of us.

Lastly, avoiding electronics for several hours prior to bed is imperative for me to get good sleep.

Well, I'd still recommend theanine and taurine stacked. And avoiding electronics, particularly a computer or phone or iPad for several hours prior to bed time.

I'm definitely going to have to try a few things out. Watching tv is really the only way I feel calmed down before bed. It's weird but it's one of the most relaxing things for me. Plus I'm pretty OCD and like to keep my bedtime routine the same.. Lol

Well, actually, TV doesn't effect my sleep the same way a computer, phone, etc does. The former is relaxing to me as well, and a "passive" activity, unlike the latter which are more "active" and keep my brain going.
