Androgel 1.62% Review/Feedback

Just wanted to give a little feedback on my adrogel exp. I broke my ankle in sept and was laid up at home for 3 months were I was only using my adrogel about twice a week. On Nov 18 I had labs run and my test to a dive to 272. On Jan 5th I started back at 3 pumps a day and had labs tested again on Jan 20th and test came back at 867

I apply 1ML at night before bed and 1ML again in the morning before work. I use Formestane morning and night as well and my E2 is on the low side of normal. My PSA has risen slightly since starting TRT.

That's a good number for just 3 pumps. Are you using Phlogel?
 
Alright, I have new updates again! After about 8 months on Androgel using 4 pumps/day + Phlojel Ultra, my recent bloodwork is still consistent at total T 1200, free T about 290, and good ole estradiol at 55. So I started Formeron 2 weeks ago and started aggressively with 2 pumps in morning and 2 pumps in the afternoon, along with Phlojel Ultra on top. That was a bad bad move! I think my estrogen crashed after the first week as I had serious fatigue, achy joints, hot flashes, and an insane appetite. I've since dropped to only 2 pumps/day by itself without Phlojel Ultra and I'm feeling pretty good now! I've noticed a slight bit of water weight loss, muscles definitely look more vascular, strength is up a bit, libido is elevated, and I feel like I'm on a mini PH cycle. Formeron is a great value at $33 for a 40-day supply using 2 pumps/day! The guys over at Black Lion Research are also really helpful and responsive to all emails. I can certainly tell that Formeron is working after about an hour or two after application, as I feel that "swell" in my triceps which reminds me of my former experiences with AndroBulk and AndroMass. I can't wait to take another blood sample here real soon and see how this impacts my E2. I think the only side effects I'm noticing now are a bit of an elevated heart rate, more sensitivity to caffeine, and I'm sweating like a mad man in the gym even without taking PWO stims.

Where are you applying it? A total of 2ML/day, all in one place?
 
Yep, I knew that. Thanks though! With all the discussion of different areas for absorption I was just wondering if that was how he was using it.
 
I just got my lab results back using AndroForte twice per day + 100 mg of Formestane twice per day.


T = 1500
E2 = 10
PSA = 2.1

Pretty good numbers but the knot under my right nipple is still a little tender even with very low estrogen values. I have some Nova I'm going to try.

Did you get any hematocrit/hemoglobin numbers?
 
I just think that is so awesome that it works that well for you. I'd be interested but I'd never stick to an everyday protocol, I just know myself. Plus, it is very expensive for me as insurance would only cover Androgel and the portion of it sucks. However, I get test cyp for injection for $5 every 3 months. Comparing $275 to $5 for 3 months worth just seems hard.
 
I'm not sure I trust this labs T results. I don't feel like my T is over 1500. I should be seeing a significant increase in strength and size and I'm not. No zits or aggression which normally is associated with higher T levels. Based on previous cycles I believe my T levels are around 700-800. The last time I had them tested by a different lab they were 356 with 1 ml per day so logically 2 ml per would result in 712. My E2and PSA are the same from both labs.
 
I don't know if anyone is following this thread anymore but if so I have some new lab information base on 1ml per AndroForte + 1ml per of progesterone + 100 mg Formestane twice per day for about six weeks.

T = 1336
E2 = 10.4
PSA = 2.15

Doc says my T is way to high. He wants it in the 600 range. I'm going to start low dose Cilas to help with BPH.

What is your hematocrit?
 
I'm still in. You are the only person I have read that is using prog in your protocol and find it interesting. Did you notice anything with this addition, or have you used it from the beginning.
 
kisaj - based on your recommendation, I have been taking sublingual DHEA (25mg) and Preg (25mg), along w/ formastane, on top of an Androgel equivalent compounded product.

I am feeling better and more relaxed than I have in YEARS.
 
Awesome!! It was and is life changing for me. When I think about what an issue anxiety is in our society and the drugs thrown at it, it makes me wonder if supplementation with preg and dhea could be a better alternative.

That is actually why I was wondering about BBB's prog addition instead of going to the top and taking preg. Unless there were some bad e2 issues, I think I would want to start at the top and let natural pathways take their course.

Initially, I was suing a 30mg pregnenolone capsule (I do not recall the brand) and a home-brewed DHEA transdermal (37.5 mg/ml).

After reading kisaj's results, I changed to the brand I understand he was using, Superior Source. I bought them at Votacost.
 
Ah, I've changed brands again because I lowered my dose. If you like the higher dose, Superior Source is great. I found that they worked too well and I needed to lower my dose and stop my zits from coming in like a 16 year old. I couldn't break the tiny pills into 1/2 or 1/4 doses or I would have stuck with it.

Now I am taking:
Source naturals pregnenolone 10mg
Douglas Labs DHEA 5mg

Both are sublingual.

Good to know. I have a pill splitter, so I usually have little problem splitting pills to whatever size I need.
 
Hope you don't mind me cutting in on your conversation but I'm on testosterone 2 ML every two weeks. A zit problem is becoming extremely difficult. What would you suggestion the help with that? They are Not like normal zits..

Can't speak to the kind of acne, but you are taking the equivalent of 400mg of test e2w and that is horrific. There is no doubt you are probably being ravaged by e2 issues. Change your protocol to more frequent, lower injections.

What dose did you settle in at ?

I'm on 120 mg test cyp a week split into two shots and doing 150mg formestane a day to keep estrogen in check

I've used progesterone off and on for years. If you read what Dr Lee and Ray Peat have to say about men using progesterone daily you will start using it as well. All pros no cons.
 
Lol, that is a bold statement. Actually preg is recommended before prog in most protocols. Anyway, I was wondering why you take it other than that Dr Lee and Ray Peat say it is good.

BBB- read up on Ray Peat's comments and opinion on preg. If you follow him, you will find it interesting as he is one of the biggest proponents of it.
 
Both Ray Peat and Dr Lee are it's strongest proponents but there are many studies done ( mostly in other countries) that extol it's benefits even over pregnenalone.

I have only been on progesterone combined with TRT for about month. It typically takes about three months to fully kick in. But thus far much better sleep. I sleep sounder and deeper than normal. I have more energy throughout the day and I'm only getting up to go to the bathroom once or twice a night as compared to two to three times without progesterone.

If I Understand it correctly Pregnenolone coverts to progesterone in the body . So does it matter which one you take ? progesterone seems much easier to find and at most vitamin shops

Are you taking progesterone and if so from where all I can find is cream for that but many options for Pregnenolone
 
It does matter because of the pathway. Pregnenolone goes two different paths. One that turns into DHEA and the other direction is Progesterone. The one thing I do not like about Prog when I have studied it and my doc agrees, is that it is one of the most powerful 5-alpha reductase inhibitors and significantly decreases DHT. Ask anybody that has reduced DHT and see how they feel. That is the hormone that makes us feel like men and keeps libido high. Preg converts to prog, but the effect isn't the same as taking it directly.

If a doctor says it would be a good addition, then that is a route to look into. My doc told me to take preg and DHEA to get my levels in the high range and it changed everything for the better.
 
As I understand it pregnenalone can covert to other things besides progesterone. This is not a bad thing but you need enough progesterone to combat BPH and the many other things that progesterone helps with. Pregnenalone is upstream and you may not get enough conversion to progesterone to do its job properly.
 
That is the concern. It lowers DHT and if you read up on it, can and does affect libido in men. I'd only supplement with it if you have a history of prostate cancer or an actual need to go that route. We need DHT.
