What about chemo's avatar?..is that copywritten? It looks pretty cool to me
...
Nobody has asked about my avatar so I have to share the story now ;)

That piece of art is original and was drawn by myself in late 1993. It was created for a T-shirt...ala platoon style. If anyone has military experience they will no doubt remember creating platoon T-shirts during training courses. That was put on the T-shirts for 1st PLT, Bravo Company, 232nd Medical Battalion...Bravo Bulldogs set the standard.

I kept the proof and had plans to have it inked on the skin but never pursued it. I found it some time ago and scanned it for the avatar. It means a lot to me as it is original and reprents my full circle in life. See, not long ago I was deployed on active duty. I knew that my destination was the battle field and got my affairs in order...even the board issues. As it turns out I did not get deployed into a hostile theatre but instead assumed command of a training company. My mission was to accelerate the training and crank out combat ready medics in 75% of the usual time needed. I took great pride in this assignment as I was responsible for ensuring the readiness of 322 Bravo Bulldog combat medic trainees...the very company that I started my military career in CMF 91 (medical).

So, I drew that avatar while an enlisted trainee. I found it some 10 years later and was shortly thereafter deployed to command the very company that started my career. If you don't have military experience it may not seem significant but I left Ft. Sam Houston in 1993 as an E-1 Private and returned 10 years later as the company commander (O-3). Hence, the full circle.

Sorry for the rant...

I can accept credit cards directly now but be warned the name on the account is BDC NUTRITION. I'm not going to set up a merchant account for the board so this one will have to do ;)

Also, I've made it so if you donate money through your control panel (Invalid Link Removed) it will move you to the Board Supporter member group. There are a few benefits to this system as it will afford the contributing members more privilidges and recognition. For example, all board supporters will have their screen name highlighted in red on every list (just like the MODS). In addition, it will unlock access to certain forums and list them on the forum leaders page. Additional services will be added as we conjure them ;) All members that have donated so far will have their accounts updated...

Click the link at the top of the page or go through your control panel to donate without using Paypal...

Just curious, how long will it take to update the ones that have already donated?

That was a nice little rant actually. Good story Chemo and if it were me I would definitely pursue getting the ink done. I always thought that was a sweet avatar. I just figured you designed it for the board.

Already done...give me a few days to add some other features for you bros.

Chemo

Im currently working on a backpiece for a shirt but Im not sure of the color scheme yet. Im doing all the current images in grayscale with a transparent background. I was thinking a dark grey but black wouldnt be a problem. All that would have to be down would be to flip the image colors from black on grey to white on black. Im kinda pressed for time (work, school again, gym, and home life) and im pretty picky about this **** so It may be a few more days. The front I havent figured anything. I just thought the boards logo would be fine on the front left chest plate. The backpiece is more of a mural type of image. Ive combined the human body in various forms and Im thinking of a science theme as well with different features from different fields of science. Its looking pretty good so far. I was thinking of a more professional aspect for this shirt which incorperates not only bodybuilding but the life around bodybuilding and the sciences involved in it. Remember this isnt your regular board!
As for sayings. The homebrew thing is definitly something that will be on one I just want to fine turn so its not a lame saying like most other gym shirts. I was also thinking of something short and sweet.
Ill try to get an updated graphic up tonight after I shower.

db

If anyone has ideas let me hear them. Im open to anything that displays what this board represents.

So far it sounds great db. My biggest concern was that it would end up with the type of saying that would portray us as jiuced up pompus asses. Science minded sounds good. Like "Brewing Anabolic Minds"

db, you don't need to shower bro, just let the shirt soak it up. :-)

I like the idea, but what about shirt colors? Assuming its gonna be a darker toned shade? What about a dark grey, like a charcoal? Not that spotted type, but that solid shade type...

I could go for some baggy sweat pants too. I know, I'm getting ahead of things, but I like wearing that type of clothes. Really though, when I'm not working, and even sometimes when at work, thats all I like to sport, just some comfortable threads. I know these couple of chicks that can draw some amazing stuff. They draw like their own comic books and ****....its unreal. If I can get a hold of them, I can have 'em whip me up something quick-like, but it'll still be good.

Wish I could draw, I do however have the best stick-man drawing in the world I'd say. :D

Rant?

Jesus I enjoyed that. I have wondered at your avatar... (As well as that PUSH!!! DS Velarde, 1993, that used to be in your signature)...

I was at Fort Sam Houston in 1992 for 91B school: 7th PLT, B CO, 232d MED BN, Bravo's Best. Our T's were not as cool.

Your career progression truly is spectacular. Congratulations.

Those days in the spring of 1992 were a formative period in my life and continue to influence me. I still remember a night walking back from that E-club on the hill and making a decision, or maybe more accurately, determining to do something that changed my life. I'll spare the details, but it pertained to my career and set me on a long path. Anyway, 12 years later, and nearing the end of part of the path, I am preparing for the next part (the beginning, really). To that end, in January I found myself in San Antonio, interviewing. Saw the troops on the Riverwalk, drove by the old barracks at Fort Sam...

Wow. :) I thought that was a full circle, until I read your post.

Thank you for that story and this kick-ass board.

Holy ****...there's another Bravo Bulldog on the board! And here we are...both full circle. I want to personally welcome you to Anabolicminds and trust you'll uphold the same high standards that have guided you since Ft. Sam.

Ft. Sam, I stayed across the street from there at a bed and breakfast after I got back from Iraq. Great base you guys have there.

The logo on my basic T is badass if I can find it wherever I have it stashed. The wife and I tried like hell to get Ft. Sam when she went from reserves to active last year--she's preventive medicine and did her AIT there as well and all I hear from medics is how awesome that post is--but the recruiters just laughed and laughed at us. They convinced us to give Carson a try and here I am. She just got back from theatre 3 weeks ago and I got screwed from going twice in the past two years. I'm an engineer and was stuck in an MP unit that had no need for me. Then when I got my transfer for the engineer unit out here (combat heavy) they were already nine months in country and just got home as well. Maybe next year. Anyway, sorry for my stupid little rant just nice to see some hooah folks on here.

Carson was nice when I was there.. but that was back in '84 and that was when the 4th ID was there... :D

I'm out now.. just a plain ole' civilian

I was a TOW crew member.. I was in the part of the infantry that blew up tanks.. I was a fun 5 year ride.. 3 duty stations (Carson, Germany (back before the wall came down, did border duty), and Ft Lewis..

I like your idea DB, about keeping it towards the more serious/scientific aspect of bodybuilding, and incorporating many different things besides just the weights....and also the dark colors sound good.....almost like a dark/mysterious feel to it and at the same time enlightening..

I am looking forward to your prototype..

Will you need beta testers for the T-shirts? ;) :D

I agree completly.

I'm totally down for the T-shirt idea. Preferably black. Maybe even a fitted t-shirt or sleeveless.

Let me know if any of you like these shirt ideas? I love Chemo's avatar.

BTW, if you all want to see them in any other colors just let me know.

The upper left hand corner needs to be reserved so we can get them printed with our user names on it...lol..

I was thinking about the shirt thing again in the gym after I saw this one dudes shirt..said like Raw power or something....

I think I'd like one that said Hamper19 on it...

I think so far the shirts above need a little more detail to them...the FDA one is good, but it looks too plain or something..cool just a bit plain IMO

h19

Well if the design gets too crazy then it hurts the eyes and takes away from the message on the shirt. I'll try to work on something else, but changing the user name for each shirt is really gonna run up the price.

I like them all. My fav is the Brewing anabolic minds one. The FDA one is cool too, however,to the general public(who will be the ones seeing theese shirts)It doesn't exactly portray us as intelligent thinkers. It kind of makes us look like rebelious jiuceheads. I would rather someone look at the shirt and ask me what brewing anabolic minds means than not say anything and just assume I'm some kind of extreemist anti government steroid abuser. Just my two cents. ;)

you would have to pay extra to order it, like standard price for shirt then whatever extra for your username..i just thought it was kinda funny/cool...

I agree with the hurting the eyes thing, but if you go to

Invalid Link Removed the **** at the top is cool, like the image itself as well as the colors...that could be an idea for a shirt right there

I agree with you on that also...

Here is another, i can guarantee someone will stop to ask you what it means. Especially since every psychologist under the sun wants to diagnose us with this disease.

lol, i'm just throwing ideas out. Kinda like a photoshoot, for every 100 shots, you might find one that is a keeper. I'm just doing whatever comes to mind. If you can think of a good slogan, let me know.

Damn dude, you gotta shop or something? Those look pretty nice. I like the first two. Good ideas flowing though...

Are we gonna be able to get these in XXL or XXXL?

I want some white ones damnit! :D

I like the slogan "setting the standard" on the bdcnutrition url

I just had an idea, I know there are a lot of people working on this, but My soon to be aunt is a graphic designer, she is Director at a Graphic design/Branding company. They do logos and branding and whatever I guess. I can see if she would throw around some ideas.

Here is something I did in flash..(btw I am not very good at it..AT ALL)..I can't get it onto a T-shirt.... But the idea for the picture is that it would go on the right chest area of the T-shirt... just an idea of what kind of image we I think should portray...(intelligent/mysterious/Intriguing) again my art skills are...ok well I don't really have art skills so keep that in mind..

That one definitely has some good potential. Maybe trick out the fonts and blend in the gray circles. I like the rest a lot.

Thanks, I will try. If anyone wants to take that and build upon it, feel free. Like I said I don't know photoshop or flash or any of the graphic art programs very well....I am lucky I figured out how to publish the flash image (5 layers) into 1 jpeg..lol

Also, I am sure you probably did this...but when you click on the thumbnail, make sure you hit the little box that will come up in the bottom right corner that will make it larger...if you don't make it larger it is hard to read.

h19

That one is cool Hamper. I like those Metallica style lightning bolts too. I think any shirt should include the AM logo at the top left hand side of the screen in addition to the other design. (The one that says Learn-Lead-Teach)

I'm all for the extra fee with our username on the shirt.
