I'm confused. So you are doing nursing instead of baseball ?

No I'm still playing baseball but i was trying to get into the nursing programs at the schools I am looking at attending in the fall and the all have waiting lists. I'm already a bit behind in school so I really dont want to fall behind any further. I think I may change to teaching.

Im plan o playing baseball until someone around the game tells me it's time to move on.

Yeah, I also love the welfare momma who will through down $300 for her oxycontin script without even flinching. Junkies and drug dealers seriously p*ss me off! You should turn in the AIDs dude for welfare fraud though, no joke. In PA, welfare bums have to pay a copay of $1 for some of their meds, but by law we have to give them their meds if they say they don't have the money. How many of the do you think pay the f'ing dollar? In my estimation, less than half. I work my balls into the ground to provide for my family, and these bums can't even pay a lousy dollar for meds paid for by the taxpayers of this welfare state. I'd like to throw all of the welfare bums and junkies into a giant incinerator on a deserted island somewhere...aren't you glad you got me started?

lmao, i agree 100%!! here in my state we have access, a state funded program to PAY for that ONE SINGLE DOLLAR!! when access doesn't cover it and there is a dollar copay, they say "what!?? i don't pay ANYTHING!! IT'S FREE!!!" then they DON'T get their baby's antbiotic or their wife's birth control. it's great :) then they have more kids and we get to pay more $ to support them

I remember you bud!

How have you been?

havent been on much. got back from iraq and immediately went back to school via the army. very fast paced program so i rarely have free time.

Good luck with your studies, Josh. :)

Just out of curiosity, why not nursing?

Josh, were you in the military at one point? I forget and am not sure if I'm mixing you up with Dadams maybe.

nope never been in the military, got a cousin in the navy though

My mom is a nurse and I work in a hospital now. I dont think I can be a floor nurse. Very stressfull and frustrating. Between the doctors thinking your there slaves, to the patients who over exagerate their sickness, and the family members you blame you for eveything I would go crazy!!!

I have utmost respect for a good nurse but thoughout the hospital they are few, alot of them have this attitude as if this is their social time and the patients are an inconvience to them and distrubing their hangout time. I couldnt live like that, so I turned away from nursing.

I was considering scrub tech till I talked to a few of them. And xray is alright but there isnt much room for advancement and with respitatory its less school and pays about the same as a nurse entry level. Your in and out the pt rooms and dont deal with any of the BS that goes on. So thats why I ended up is resp.

I couldn't do floor nursing either; that's why I've always stuck with the ER. Plenty of autonomy, and you use your advanced skills on a daily basis. As far as money goes, once you have about 5 years under your belt in nursing you're making good money. Experience, education, and certifications definitely help you move up the pay scale.

There are bad apples in every profession. I've known quite a few worthless nurses and respiratory therapists over the years. I don't like dealing with the BS either, but I was a charge nurse; then an AOD (administrator on duty) in the ER.....so I had to deal with complaints and trouble shoot all day long. It's what I was good at though, but it wears you down over time.

my mom has been a nurse for 20 years now. An LPN for the most of it and recently got her RN not long ago. I know nursing has far more doors of opptunities and room for advancement I just dont know if I can handle it and dont wanna end up to be one of those misreable nurses. I remeber when I used to live at home my mom would come home drained every night and complain non stop about everything that happened that day and I was like "Holy crap I def dont wanna do that" ... My mom is a great nurse though, one of the best in the hospital (and not just saying that) She is actuall compasionate for her patients and even now as a floor RN if an aide is slacking and aint doing her baths instead of argueing or calling them on it she will just go wash the pt herself and at my hospital an RN washing a patient cuz a aide isnt is unheard of. She is a great lady I just think I can handle what comes with the job

Funny how things effect your when your growing up

After EMT class I was considering paramedic untill I seen how hard it is to get a job as one and for the 2 years might as well do nursing

Well after spending 7 years running on the ambulance both inner city and rural 2 yeas ago I started working at the ER as a Tech. I miss the ambulance but I make twice as much at the hospital. I cant wait to get out of the milwaukee area. The EMS system is a complete joke and we have one trauma center that while they are good in their own rite they get blown out of the water if put next to any big city Level 1. Thankfully Im moving to Houston in 2 months and one of the ED directors down there already wants to hire me. So well see how that goes.

I was a pharmacy technician during my undergrad, thought about going to pharmacy school but after working in pharmacy for a few years I figured that I'd probably shoot someone if I stayed in the field. After I graduated from college with a degree in chemistry I got a job as a product formulator at a local company. I've loved it ever since. Not working with the general public is the best part. That certainly was not my cup of tea.
