Always bulking good or bad?

I see how the pros do it, the put on all this weight and then strip it off and when its all said and done they added a couple solid pounds. Could some just stay bulking and not risk losing the extra muscle while they are losing the fat.

While it is possible to lose fat while gaining muscle, it is very, very difficult for most. Then reason all the pro's bulk up and then cut is that it is more efficient to do one at a time. That is, eat and train with a view to adding as much muscle as possible and then cut while maintaining (or losing only minimum amounts) of muscle while dropping bf as fast as possible.

Personally, I am happy to add muscle slowly while dropping the gut. When I achieve my goal, then I may go for an all out (clean) bulk/cut routine.

If your lucky like me you can bulk for 5 years straight and still be lean. Who'd a thunk it. Cutting? What the hell is that? :D

i bulk up then cut down .. you don't make enough progress in either direction trying to do both at once .. unless your kevin levrone .. or apparently natedogg lol

There is a difference however between bulking, as in eating everything in site and gaining 100 pounds, and gaining slowly 1-3 pounds a week.

...and being a Marine, know what I'm saying Ryan? I'll would weigh 220 than go to the field for a week come back 5 lbs lighter gain a lb or two back...hit the field for 2 more weeks, lose some more weight...get back to the rear, gain a few lbs back...get deployed drop down to 200 lbs and so on like a friggin yo-yo. I think I flucuated between 200 and 220 more times than I can count in the past 4 years. Thank god that's all behind me now. 250 here I come.

Yeah I remember that sh*t, although it kept me from balooning up to 300+, lol.

I could actually gain weight in the field if I ate enough MRE's.Invalid Link Removed

I use the traditional bulk up cut down method right now. But i'm planning to do this only as long until I get the size I want. I then plan on just slowly gaining muscle while keeping the fat in check. I don't know how good it is for my body to gain weight, then try and lose it, there has to be some sort of strain doing that.
