to be honest I would love to see Thiago win, just because I think it is better for a little diversity in the weight classes. (kind of why I want to see Florian win, and someone at 185 beat Anderson). However, I dont thnik Thiago wins here. He does have the best shot out of GSP's most recent opponents, and he has a punchers chance, but that is about it. I see GSP finding range early, then controlling the fight via his wrestling, and probably finishing it by round 4.

NO! He's from brazil! You know what that means???? I understand the fear that a french canadian brings to the table but more brazilians means the end of the world. Next Brock will lose to Mir and find out Mir was born in Sao Paulo.

Limb Biscuit was cancelled via contract blah blah (something that nobody cares about anyway) this is the best thing to happen to the UFC. Who ever came up with this idea for next weekend should be unemployed. The last time anyone cared about LB was around when I was playing mario kart64. And that sh!t was new!

No kidding. I was waiting for them to announce Chumbawumba and Smash Mouth for 101 and 102, respectively.

I have a special disdain for Limp Bizkit. His one and only decent song was a cover/remix, "Faith." Apart from that, I think people began to realize that his flows had no reason, direction or purpose. He matched random words that rhymed on occasion that had nothing to do with anything. Lottery rap, because its just random lyrics.

"Reality is up ahead in tha' distance, but that lack of persistance has left you behind. Now your reaching for your sanity, cause you' afraid of me, so don't **** with me. You wanna ask me a question? Well I gotta question.
How much longer can I tolerate this ****." EXACTLY.

Alves/Hughes. I forgot Hughes successfully landed a TD on Alves in the first round on a knee attempt. I could see Georges open-cage clinching Thiago and taking him down there as well. I was surprised at how well Hughes held Thiago down, but Hughes really did nothing on the ground; as a result, it is really hard to gauge his wrestling ability. This being said, it may not bode well for Thiago if a wrestler of Hughes' calibre can control his posture for that long of a period. On the flip-side, the eventual result of the fight does not bode well for GSP!

I might have to get just a little hammered :scratchchin: Been abstaining for quite a while and this is a helluvan occasion !

Ahhh, troll, to bad ive been on this board a lil longer than you have bud

Thank-you for your commentary, Stone Cold. If you are as flabby as the hick in your avatar, which you probably are, I'm sure you have no reason to be opening your food-flap.

As a Flyers fan I don't expect you to be Einstein, but basic skills are great. Nothing is said in the video, which is why it's funny to say, "George is going to crush Thiago" after. It's called irony. Now wait for your turn until next time, Sling Blade. "Georges trainer said georges nervous...". Right...

:D

LOL. I'd wreck you if you were in my face right now. You can't hold a candle to me little guy, I'm bigger and leaner than you bitch. Go wear your size smedium gsp t-shirt small fry. I'll pm you my address, come and see for yourself how flabby a hick I am:-) Only on the internet could someone who is such a bitch talk to me like that, how funny :tool:

I wish you would hold a candle up to my extremely little guy, and then blow on it. I'm weird like that. I'm a big, lean bitch and wish you were here. I'll wear my size smedium gsp t-shirt, and then show you my small fry. (I mean my penis of course.) I'll pm you my address, come and see for yourself how small a **** I have:-) Only on the internet could I find someone to talk to me like a bitch.

Fixed that for you, Stone Cold.

P.S.,

You're a flabby hick.

I'll PM my address tough guy, I stopped hiding in the closet long ago. I know I'm a better hick since coming out :-). You're hot, so is Alves.

Listen, stop propositioning me. I received your pictures, and you are simply not my type. I am engaged to a beautiful woman and, despite your aggressiveness, I am going to have to decline on a date.

HAHA. Sounds like small guys back down when called out. Listen, I don't have any more time to waste reading how you think you're a tough guy, I just want to talk about how Alves is gonna knock out gsp like I've been telling all these delusional gsp fans.

Can you actually give a solid breakdown as to why you think this will happen?

Most guys back down from gay meet-ups when I called their house, but I hope you're different. Listen, I don't have any more time to waste on mind games and teasing, I just want to talk.

For the third time: no. I have a fiancee, and could never do that to her.

Read my previous posts in the thread and I say that Alves has explosive power and solid bjj. I LOVE this fight because gsp is also well suited in these areas, but having met Alves, I am biased and have never seen someone that big for his size. Plus I'm pulling for ATT at coconut creek being a Florida resident for eight years now.

That's not really good reasoning. GSP has explosive power and better BJJ and is not much smaller (~188 lbs). You're admittedly biased, so you have to take your perspective with a grain of rock salt.

Good reasoning??. We are talking about who "might" win an mma fight. You are talking like it's a science and because you love gsp so much, you think he can't possibly lose under any circumstance. "gsp has better bjj" We will see about that come fight time, which is why once again I say, I LOVE this fight. I am biased on this fight, so are you because you won't give Alves his dues and the respect he deserves as a serious threat in his division. Keep your salt, I've got my green on Alves.

I've said on numerous occasions that Alves has a great chance to win this fight (FYI, Thiago is a purple, GSP is a BB). However, I just think you're unable to give GSP any credit for anything he's done. I was hoping you'd have some decent analysis about the fight, but all you've said is Alves will KO GSP without any reasons for it.

Ok, there's obviously no getting around John Madden here. Just wait and see come July 11. :duel:

Nice matador act...again. Like I've also said, let's see if Thiago makes weight.

I'd love for thiago to use his sprawl defense to defend against gsp's takedowns and for him to knock out gsp when georges tries to strike with Alves. GSP is good at going after his opponent with their game and beating them down mentally. Georges will be very dangerous if he controls the ground game, but Thiago's strength and skill will most likely force gsp to respect his game and try some new strategies which will only add to the excitement of the fight.

GSP will take Thiago down at some point; no one has been able to stop his TDs.

The key is exactly how he goes about doing it. These are the first two options I think he will pursue:

a) Clinch TDs. Given Alves' MT background, I doubt the GSP will give him the chance for a flash-KO with an open-cage shot. It's more likely GSP will work the clinch against Alves, as Georges is very proficient there. I can see GSP closing the distance with his quick left jab, then faking a punch for a clinch grapple.

b) Timing Thiago's leg kicks. Something I noticed in both Hughes/Alves and Koschek/Alves: neither of his opponents tried to time his leg kicks for an open-cage TD. GSP is just quick enough to do it, so I could see him trying something similar.

Thiago's strength and size are undeniable, so I am torn as to whether or not GSP will be successful in the first round with TDs; history, in terms of Penn/GSP I, Penn/GSP II, says no. Georges usually finds his range on the feet before attempting TDs. The first round will be stand-up.

I think Thiago's probability for winning is on a sliding scale - that is, far more in round one than round three, etc. In the first round, I say it is 60/40 GSP, and it decreases secularly from there. GSP has never lost a fight that made it out of the first round, and I think there are good reasons why.

Considering I work in a CPU lab, I'm here a great deal to pass the time. Also, the rep gig requires a good amount of time on the boards.

I've noticed a trend of trolls to insult based upon stats, which shows a major lack of intelligence. Knowledge =/ size and/or strength.

Hurling out these insults is what is slowly turning AM into bb.com.

"Vaseline Queen" patent pending gsp 2009

soooo if u can say that about gsp then guess we can all sit around and call alves a cheat since he used steroids. and hell while im at it i should just say alves was a nobody till he started using..... :sgrin:

A cheat? are you kidding me with this?

watch thiago not make weight and pull a travis luter

I think he will make weight, but it remains to be seen whether this will help or hinder him. On one hand, it could be an easy cut that allows him to retain substantial mass, and negate GSP's normal strength and size advantage. On the other, the last two pounds that he is not gifted in this fight [being a title fight] may be the most difficult to cut, sapping his cardiovascular capacity. Either way, next Saturday we will find out whether or not everybody is just sipping the UFC's Kool-Aid on Thiago, or whether or not he is a legitimate threat to GSP.
