Airborne's Quest to PowerLifting (and whatever he's on ATM)

AB , BBing (in an old school way) is more focused on Muscle Groups and sarcoplasmic hypertrophy...some newer methods have learned from powerlifing that myofibrilar hypertrophy is also required for good mass gains. However in real powerlifting , muscle group splits and stuff like that becomes irrelevant at some point...It might be needed to begin with , like with 5/3/1 since you need to have some muscle mass development to be able to push more weight. Alas more mass = more leverage. However, there comes a point where you have to (and I would argue since the start) worry about Planes and Movements. Meaning you worry about your Vertical and Horizontal Plane, and also focus on your big movements such as the Squat, the Bench and the Deadlift.

Once a usual progression starts plateauing IMO best thing to do is swap out some of the main movements with variations to keep the CNS engaged, alas you can try Sumo Deadlift, Wide Stance Squat, Clean Pulls, Wide Grip Bench , Reverse Grip Bench , ETC. So your big Power movements get a change in the myofribrilar hypertrophy they get, and you also need to keep up with the speed and explosion side of the deal with assistance work focusing not on the Power Movements , but on the Dynamic Movements, like Speed Bench, Speed Dead Lift, Snatch , Power Clean ETC.

That's just my take on it though, it's the most I have gathered here reading around.

And I fully appreciate all the advice and def take it in...
I'm just gettin peoples take on it.. people are tellin me I'm wrong in what I'm doin that my template should be diff but in reality I'm gettin professional training from someone who knows what they are doing as well (not bein snyde about it, just tryin to figure this out) he benches 7-800+ pounds and what not... Idk just gettin takes from you brothers!
I'm already stronger then most of these PL. I'm just not pro at how its done

I love reading the info. all you beasts share on here!

Exactly bro! Profesional help goes along way my man. You just started doing this his way, and it will take time for ur strength to adapt. But in the end I bet this coach isn't worried at all. Keep killing it, and icing ur body. You will go places bro, trust that!

Hey bro, it's whatever works for yah! Look at Chris Duffin , people didn't accept him being on IF and then BAM , he is one of the strongest people around.

Who knows, maybe your coach is trying to make you develop more muscle mass so you can get a huge total once you get the knack of the movements! Keep killing it bro! You are huge and damn strong, I'm pretty sure you'll have a 8-10x BW total soon!

Thank you bro that means a lot! I just keep gettin different advice and stuff thrown at me and I'm hesitant on what I do... Almost self concience. I just need to focus on what to learn from my coach haha
Thank you a lot brother

Don't start doubting yet brotha man... I have the tendency to question everything I do ALL the time, so I know how you feel. Keep your head in the game, I'm sure a professional COACH knows what he's got you doing bud. Give it some time.

I knew I had read somewhere that some anabolics actually lubricate the joints.

AB, you need to pick your coaches brain and ask him what his training goals are for you and if he has any good materials to read for info about it all. Don't question his methods but show a real interest in getting ahead and he should be happy to see this.

Great advice bro I will def do that... I need to ask more... It seems like powerlifters are not all there compared to the rest... Brain damage?

AB, we don't give a fck about anything but making the bar go up. If you don't like the way we do things, fck off.

It's why all the bb'rs steer clear and wonder why we only do sets of 3!

I like it that way...

I was thinking of Tren the ph... Deca seems to help... Eq helps with collagen.

Taking 10g of collagen a day also helps repair.

IF you can afford - HGH may he helpful. It's getting prescribed more and more for surgery recovery.

Glutamine I can't remember at what dosages also showed a little help I believe in joint issues so may be pointless but there's science there.

There are more I am study overload so when something else pops up I'll let you know.

The Deca seems to be more a "lubricating" feeling although I didn't really look into the moa bout to board my plane to CO...

EQ seems to actually help with collagen synthesis.

I'll try and track down some HGH studies, although I'm not real familiar with peptides efficiency, quality, reliable sources etc that may be a possible route...

I think the Deca was the one if I remember but the Mrs AB might not like the sides.

Damn that food pic has me salivating!!

Now I know your life story.

Keep his stomach full and his balls empty.

Just so you know, EQ increases collagen synthesis by more than Deca and will probably have far less of an impact on libido. Something to consider.

Also, I am late on this thread but it seems as though you have a lot of things being thrown at you from different people. I would treat this trainer like a routine and follow it exactly. The only way to truely guage the results is to do exactly what he tells you. After a while, if its working out for you then great. If its not, let him know and recalibirate things. If it ends up that your not making the progress you need and your body is falling apart, then maybe this guy doesn't know what he is doing and it would be time to find a new coach. But you will never know what direction to go unless you follow it exactly at first. Then make your adjustments. Thats my take on it. Best of luck brother

Great advice here as well thank you and he does know what he is doing. He is one of Oregons strongest men... Was one year actually and a great buddy of mine

Man sorry to hear about the shoulder, be careful with it! Just got over months of shoulder pain myself. I'm working with a bb trainer currently and he showed me a full body calisthenic warmup routine to do preworkout which has done wonders for my joints, haven't had shoulder pain since. I still get light hip pain occasionally, from heavy weight squats and deadlifts though. I'm trying to get into bb but I still believe in doing really heavy powerlifting style sets on the big three sometimes for mass gaining and overall strength. Don't know if you'd be interested in the warm up I do or not, and I definitely think you should just roll with what your trainer says for awhile but here it is in case you were curious. I do 5 minutes low intensity cardio to get my heart rate up, then:

Arm Rotations-5 forward, 5 backward
Standing Torso Rotations-10(2 count, put hands together so elbows face straight out to your sides then thrust your elbow behind you while looking straight forward to twist your upper torso)
Walk Out Push Ups-5
Good Mornings-10
Don't know what to call it but you get in a push up position and one leg at a time you bring your leg forward and put your foot flat on the ground on the outside of your hand-5 each side
Leg Circles-5 forward, 5 backward(stand normal with feet shoulder width apart, make a large circle with your foot and then return it to the starting position, this is good for your hips)
Hindu Pushups-5

You're strong as f*** man! Reading these posts keeps me motivated to try to lift more and more. Seems less intimidating to me what I'm lifting when I see that other people are doing so much more lol.

Thank you brother! Will def try that and greatly appreciated! Keep at it bro!

You might have already covered it, but i cbf'd going through 50 pages hahaha, but do you do any direct rotator cuff work? i.e. internal/external rotation? Years of neglecting it totally f***ed my shoulders, but I started doing these a year and a half ago, twice a week and my shoulders thank me for it. No my joint pains.
