My brother in law..who , like me has been diagnosed with Low T..has just been informed that his insurance comapny has been changed..the new company will only pay $65 of his Testim prescription...it costs over $400 a month...
He is looking into alternatives..but doesn't like the thought of injections..which was my first suggestion to him..
How would he go about checking into and purchasing a compound cream?
TIA

You are probably using large and long needles.
Buy a box of
31Ga 5/16" long 3/10cc
tell him about SubQ around navel shots, frequent very small shots.
Better, upper half over the navel.
At first get used to, then go everywhere.

Money talks.

If there is two of you near by, so you could share, compounded testosterone for injection, 200mg/mL, 30mL vial $100, script required, womens international pharmacy.
This is too much for one person with the use we do, on average, and shelf life.
But for the two of you it would last 4-6 months or so.

There are less expensive needles available, I do not have good links.
I use these:

I am on the Testim gel..I have different insurance than my BIL..the Testim is working wll for me..I have used it for 1.5 yrs now.
My BIL was using the Testim ( androgel didnot work as well for him) but now his insurance carrier has changed and he can not afford the Testim..He is refusing to try to use a needle..that is why I need info on a compound type cream he can just use in place of the testim. Is there such a thing?
Thanks-

If Testim works but Androgel does not, he is cutting real close.
I used to use Androgel, from what I have heard Androgel and Testim look about the same as far as viscisity goes, but not sure.

Androgel is very thin and at firsr I was spilling lots of it while thinking that I was very carefull.

Testim and Androgel are 1% gells, they have best chances to go thru.

Other gels or creams are much more dense 5%, 10%.
Much less chance to work.

Your BIL will have to figure out how scare he really is of shots.

My wife can't stand blood or looking at shots being made.
She refuse to do my shots when I ask her sometimes.
Few years back she was doing insuline shots to her belowed dog.
Decissions are made when there is enough pressure.

i switched from compounded gel to shots. I use the 1.5" 21g spears to the ass. I was nervous at first, but got my
Doc to instruct me on injecting myself.

virtuallty no pain - and only once a week, vs applying gel every day.

I wish I would have started this way, soo much easier.

He could switch to a compounded gel that would be very similar to the Testim. or to a compounded cream. The Dr. would need to OK that, but normally they have no problem with it. Go to iacprx.org to find a compounding pharmacy near you.
