A BEASTS training log.

Hey guys I just made this thread in the general section asking about the Thanks button go post up that you want it back see if we can get it back. Invalid Link Removed

This is so gay I can't click thank.

Alright guys. I didn't go over. 135 today. 3 sets of 12-16 on everything.

Interview in the am. Not sure if I even want it. Their pay scale top is below the engineering tech median which is lame as hell. We'll see what happens.

Sounds like a volume day!

Good luck regardless...perhaps it will be a stepping stone!

De-load. I'm going to test my squat and dead this weekend...

I've decided I'll be running a cycle of the cube.. Maybe kingpin maybe standard. I've had 3 people in 2 days tell me I should compete as a pl just based off my form. Even if I never compete I'll still compete with my self to a higher level and im going to chase a 500lb squat. I want it. Now that my legs are blowing up and everything's coming together with it all I just want more. We all know the feeling.

And thanks for the luck. :-D

Good luck on the job you don't want lol ;)

Wooho! Way to go! Glad you remembered! I'm sure your body appreciates it too! Lol ;)

How was the interview?

Good luck with the job beast!
thanks dude!

thanks man. Stupid no thanks button.

Powerlifting? Pffffff. GHEYYYYY!! ;)
it's like full man on man penetration. Why else an I interested?

I'm glad too lol I need the slow week. Interview was good for practice at least... Place was a dump, very unprofessional. It was like hr and management don't talk... Surprise I scheduled you an interview today!! Hour drive one way... If they offer it better be good. It's production line crap which is not my cup of tea, I'm a bit beyond that kind of work. I'll get bored in about 32 seconds lol

I has sushi and protein ice cream :-D

Regular scheduled gym tomorrow. Still deload but tomorrow's a lift day.

Big thanks to Hyde for sharing some literature. I'll be following the cube method. The more I think about it the more excited I get :-D things are gonna get BEAST up in here.

I am due for Sushi!

Dude just MAULED some. Delicious. Very very happy right now. They opened a new place a few weeks ago. It's one of the best in the area if not the best. They hooked it up with an appetizer (free) it was fruit and spicy crab. I wish I took a picture or was like artwork. Very impressive.

Nice ... is it the all you can eat kinda of place or a la carte?

Hope it helps, brother - I really enjoyed the Cube; it pushed my boundaries & taught me some new tricks to approach things from a different way. It also helped me let go of a lot of the bodybuilder mentality - if I don't do 3-5 exercises of 3-4 sets for back on a single day/wk my back is going to shrivel into nothing. My back is as thick as ever, doing 1-2 rowing movements a couple times/wk usually - the heavy lifting takes care of a lot of it, as well as whatever hormones I'm using & my natural genetic responses/limitations. It helped me to finally really walk away from a bodypart split.

The Cube helped me realize that you can get 90% of the muscle-building results with 50-60% of the total volume, which lets you focus more on your main lifts. If I was a competing bodybuilder it would be different, & silly not to pursue every avenue to gain size. But I just wanna be a thick-backed gorilla & pick up heavy stuff, so my efforts are better spent lifting heavy weights than sweating details.

A la carte unfortunately.

B Lilly looks good at 285. He could add some cardio and compete as a builder. Most of the ones that are fat ass 308s could step on stage. People forget there's more than one way to build muscle.

nice light pull day.

deads 5x3

deficit deads 3x6

rack deads 3x6

on the deads i was really concentrating on form, as we've seen in previous vids its definitely not my best of the big 3. found a comfortable foot position that helps keep my back flat. its a cross between conventional and sumo. its like a front squat width stance. felt really good on the floor deads, the ones from the blocks were a bit tough but theyre always a bit tough.

pull downs off the hs machine 5x8

face pulls 3x8

side laterals 3x8

shrugs 3x8

tomorrows gonna be light arms and calves.

Oh yuck! That sucks!!

Invalid Link Removed is who i fish with when i go on the big o. take a look when you can get on facebook, dudes unreal. Hes got video up from this week that just looks sooo fun.

It's really really ruined me for salmon. Idk what I'm going to do with all the salmon I catch this weekend.
I bet so!! ....hmmm....I know of someone who'd be more than happy to take it off your hands! ;)
That will be a blast! Wear sunscreen though-LOTS of sunscreen!

Oh now that it's written out like that I just feel stupid for thinking I was allergic

oh, hyde, that book man, great read. dudes pretty freakin motivational too. kinda reminds me that the primitive sh*t worked just fine.

Well sports fans. Cleveland is looking pretty sexy in football and bball.

Hit a final light deload today.

Today was pretty quick and light. Sohp 3x8, vbar push down 3x8 dip machine 3x8 db curls 3 x8 spider curls 3x8 and some calf work.

Monday I anticipate a max effort dead with accessory work. I've already drawn up week one of the cube.

So the 6 lbs of protein I ordered showed up. It's cellucor in case I didn't mention. The chocolate is like melted chocolate ice cream when it's in almond milk. The vanilla is delish. Red velvet is off the chain. They make some amazing pancakes and I'll be trying ice cream soon enough.

fo' shizzle

gonna ME dead and Squat. i'll use my max from st louis for my bench percentages as i havent done much to work on my flats since then. thinking of making a new log for my new journey. got a catchy ass name for it :-D or smart ass idk

Are you doing the meet? When is it? Remember, the Cube is more or less designed to peak you for the meet, so it has to be timed 10wks out (wk 10 on saturday is when the comp is, with the 5 days before it being off besides 30% practice a few times).

Superbeast's Road to the Platform.....SB Steps Under the Bar....From Cube to Conquest: a NY Tale.....SB Goes HAM - Cubed HAM.....Wearing Hoodies, Eating Pizzas & Benching 4 Wheels.....How Much Ya Bench? SB finds out!....SB Competes, Cube-Style....

I'd probably not use any of those lol

Lmao pizza hoodies beer and barbells. you inspired that one. i was thinking beastXbeastXbeast=Beast3

no comp planned yet i'd like to do a wave or two. i'd like to have a little better squat and dead before i compete, i want to make a showing. im sure my bench would be reasonable in a uspa but squat and dead are lacking. i was actually looking up the uspa for local/semi local meets for like december or so.

Can't take credit: Brosciencelife has a vid about bulking where at the end he says, "Because if you wanna wear hoodies all day, eat 7 pizzas, & bench 4 plates, GO AHEAD - this is America, after all!" lmao

That's prob a good plan, but also understand that the first meet is just to get an idea of how they run, meet some people, get your name in the books. It's a lot of fun. It really lights a fire under your ass to stick to your training very seriously, the way a bb comp does your diet. And in the powerlifting world, there's a lot of women stronger than guys at most health clubs - nobody is judging you based on your numbers, because they've seen it all already. Guys 100lbs heavier than you with weaker lifts cuz they're noobs & just fat, & 170lb 60yr olds pulling 529 (witnessed that personally), and everything in between.

I know YOU wanna come in strong, but nobody is gonna know or care but you, so while I agree setting PRs is always number one, don't wait if that's your only reason for it.

the lexen extreme meet in columbus would be 12 weeks out.. i could probably manage that, need to research rules, not familiar with the fed. RPS...

Dude that's Chuck mothereffin' Vogelpohl's very own gym!!!! If you go, get his autograph somewhere & get it tattoo'd on. If you ever get serious into powerlifting, you'll thank me. You can pull your shirt up & show everyone at meets a trampstamp of Chuck's signature, & they'll just let you win.

Vogelpohl set all those world records in gear, & used to be one of Westside's greatest lifters before he started his own gym. Think he's just getting back into training after back surgery or something. Anyway, Idk if his gym is gear-focused or primarily raw lifters. I believe when Lilly was there it was raw training. But you need to snoop around to see if there will be a decent raw turnout. You don't wanna be in your class by yourself if you can help it lol

im familiar with Vogelpohl and lexen, just not RPS fed. actually if im not mistaken lexenxtreme is mentioned about 18 times in The Cube. and doesnt Vogelpohl have his own accessory lift outlined? maybe a row or an over head press?

i dont think i can learn a shirt and briefs in 10 weeks if its geared. too much to it. but at 220 i dont think i'd be the only one either way. i mean its the lexenXtreme fall classic. for all i know its invite only lmao.

I wouldn't bother trying to learn them in 10wks even if you could: your squat simply isn't strong enough, & like you said you wanna learn that shiz for real first. Nobody wants to see you waddle out & squat 405 in a single-ply. People do it, but it's pretty much juniors, old guys & women.

You could email the organizer if you have questions; no better place to get the answers.

I picked up Vogelpohl Rows after youtubing this skinny guy doing them when I read about them in that book. I tried em out & fell in love, at least for warmup or burnout work.

i wouldnt even bother trying to lift geared anyways though i am curious what i could do in a multi ply shirt. i think it'd be cool but i'd rather just have wrist wraps and my belt on. i'll have to email on the rules i sent over pm to you. idk if you read it but i'm confused lmao.

Got a little bit rained on today on the water. No salmon but pounded the browns and lakers. Zero complaints from this guy.
