2025 Accountability Thread - Held in remembrance of Rocket3015!!!

Almost there boys! And time to spare

Well fellas, today is 4/15 - my stated deadline for my accountability goal - and I did NOT meet it. Not mad about it though. I was attempting to get back to 185x3x8 after my last lower back misstep, and today I pulled 185x4x3.

As most of you know, I've had on & off lower back issues for years now. My last 200+ attempt (205 I think) re-tweaked things for me several months back, not full on, but enough to remind me it's there! So I'm calling this still a win in my log book.

Thanks Kleen for setting this up! It did make me push harder.

Do we have a charity in mind yet? I know @sns8778 mentioned there were a few causes that Rocket's family cared about.

Honorable response and effort Sir! Sometimes we dig and put in the work but the result we want just isn't there. However, the progress you have made, and the effort you put in was impressive and something to be proud of. Are you going to continue to try to reach the 185x5 or are you going to go into more of a hypertrophy phase or maybe a cut?

I am still plugging away at my goal. Fat loss is not as fast as I would have preferred, but who knew that I was going to be broken for a lot of this period. Still going to chase that carrot and see what I can achieve with what I am able to work with right now. It really comes down to diet, but the cardio really helps with getting everything done. Plus doing cardio which is not fun is part of what makes pushing the diet harder a little easier. If you are plugging away at something you don't really enjoy, you don't want the time spent to be wasted by a poor dietary decision.

Well, I know you follow my log and I'm due for some recovery/deload time coming up. I'm thinking I may still pull at 185 for 3's next week (would like to attempt 5x3) and then back off properly. Probably hover at a slight drop (maybe around 165) for a bit while I give my bench a decent go at it again.

Considering picking up a new PL program too, but undecided as my current programming is all by my own feel/guidance.

Planning to keep cals high and do a moderate bulk to build strength base still with my eye towards Nov. We'll see though!

Sounds like a solid plan!

Do we have a charity in mind yet? I know @sns8778 mentioned there were a few causes that Rocket's family cared about.

Rocket was very passionate about Autism, as he had a grandson that is Autistic and Rocket always referred to him as his best friend. He would send me a lot of pictures of them together.

I think that any Autism charity would make him happy, whether it be a national one or one in your own area.

@sns8778 Thanks for this information. For anyone who has already completed their challenges please go ahead and pick one and then paste your receipt for the donation in here. It was 50 for enrolling, and another 50 if you did not achieve your goal. I would like to be able to add this up at the end and show what we raised in Rocket's name. I still have another 9 weeks. I occasionally think that maybe I should have tapped out earlier when I hit my first goal. My motivation and body are fighting back against the goal. However, I am no quitter, and I want to make Rocket proud of what I achieve here. So I just have to buckle down and push toward the goal regardless. It is time to work on discipline and resilience!!!

Anyone heard of Be Humble Gym?

Former military veteran with his own demons who helps teach kids and adults with disabilities how to powerlift or get into lifting. Seems like a Good guy.

I didn’t join the competition but will gladly donate $50 in Rockets honor.

Donation made. If anyone is interested in donating to the same charity, this one is currently offering a 4x match on what you give this month:

Good stuff and the 4x match is pretty awesome!

Yep, and my company does non-profit donation match too. So should be a nice chunk of change for the organization.

Also, I wanted to state that I feel fortunate to be in a position right now to be able to donate this money to a cause. But I also recognize that this is not necessarily the case for everyone here - or at different timeframes in one's life. No judgement here.

This is purely about me being able to hold up my end of my word when I signed up on this challenge, and also hopefully doing something nice to share with Rocket's family in the end when Kleen can tally it up for them.

That’s awesome….I’ll donate $100 to that one next Friday, payday.

I was looking at that one, so if they are doing a match that would be extra cool for them!

My sister called me just this afternoon; she was pretty upset. Told me her youngest who is 2 was just diagnosed after testing Wednesday with some mild Autism. He already speaks, so I don’t think he will have a particularly hard go with things compared to many, but I did think it was rather special timing.

Unsurprisingly, she was not aware multiple-time World’s Strongest Man winner Tom Stoltman has autism. I think she felt a lot better when I explained how common it is & how varied things can be from one individual to the next 😊

I honestly often think Austism is an indicator of higher intelligence. I think it was a guest on Hubberman recently that briefly mentioned how some researchers are beginning to think that autism is a sign of the next step in intellectual evolution among humanity. I'm not much of an evolutionist, but it was an interesting idea. Age 2 is pretty early. When my boy was that age it seemed like every parenting article that came out was about "is your child autistic" and generally it seemed like most of his favorite toys, hobbies etc at that young age were autisim indicators. Fast forward 13 years and nobody would assume he was autistic, yet I test off the charts which pisses my wife and mother off because they're like "you're not autistic, you're just manipulating the tests!" 😂 😂 damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Depending on her politics you could use Elon as an example of a high functioning autistic. Of course if she is more liberal I would steer clear of that. She might not like that example much.

I will say I firmly believe some of our top attorneys have a touch of the tism. Socially awkward in a way only the tis explains. My previous boss had to be on the spectrum too. The way he compartmentalized things and socially interacted it was kind of obvious he was on a different wavelength.

@MrKleen73 was there a link to the site for donation? I need to pay up since I did not hit my goal
This is one that Segan found that did some special matching donation so I think most are going to use that one.

I am at a point I think I will be paying for my 2nd goal unless I make some serious headway in the next month. I am going to have to be pretty happy with my appearance to not have to pay out.

Thank you, I will get this squared up and post a screenshot for follow up.

I’ll hit that one today

I started my log late, so I donated $100 in Rocket’s honor. Truthfully even if I had reached my goal on time I had always planned on 100, because it was for Rocket.👍

I am still holding out in hopes this aggressive finish up plan gets me where I wanted to be. I feel I have about a 40% chance of making it, but also plan to be a bit unforgiving because regardless of the other challenges I have faced, if I stayed with the aggressive fasting once I hit my first goal of under 200 I would have definitely been lean enough. I may not have been happy with my size, but the leanness would certainly be there. Bottom line is, I am going to have to be impressed by my physique in 3 weeks. If not then I failed to reach my goal. Simple as that. I think the magic number for that will be right around 195 give or take a pound. I am 7lbs away from that at the moment. It can be done but will require focus, discipline, and a little luck. I am happy that I have managed to grow a little bit upper body wise in the process. My quads are starting to get pretty vascular again, so are my arms, and shoulders not far behind. So I am right on the edge of doable here.

Rocket would believe in you! And I do too ✊

I am giving it hell, no plans for food until tomorrow following my new plan.

Alright, so I missed my goal, I made some good improvements during this time but definitely could have done better if I had continued fasting aggressively as my injuries dictated my ability to push in the gym. I failed to make that adjustment, and it caused me to fail to reach my goal. I am still pretty happy with my results, but they are not what they should have been. Here is my receipt from my donation, and a pic from this morning. I made a nutritional mistake yesterday thinking a nice salty carb heavy meal would fill me up and tighten me up yesterday but I sweat so much I think my electrolytes were too far off and I simply did not get the result I expected. So instead of waking up tighter and full I woke up watery and smooth. It's okay, I am still happy with how I look now compared to before we got started with all of this.

Still a good job 👍

Well, I count at least $350 in donations posted up in here with receipts. Plus i know i had a company match of $100. And assuming I got the 4x match from them, that's another $400. So, $850 total to Autism Speaks - all because of a good gym bro / friend, Rocket.
