2016 NFL Thread

Your giving Nick Saban a month to prepare for a team.
You better believe that defense is going to be all over Washington.
He is the master of preparing his team especially with a long time off.
So is Chris perterson! However like is said I'm still picking bama. Bama by all means should win this game

I agree with all of this! However I would not count Washington out just. Chris perterson is as good as it gets for getting a team ready for BIG games!(5-0 vs top 10 teams). Bama hasn't played a good QB all year. With said bama should by all means win this game and I am definitely picking bama to win, but wouldn't be too shocked if Pete got the W.

Not count washington out?
I know you picked bama. But they never stood a chance...
Ran the ball all over them, and that defense is just VICIOUS

Guys I want to see your opinion on this but I think the QB with the best NFL potential from this draft class is k-states quarterback. He makes great decision, pretty good mechanics, pretty decent accuracy, solid arms strength. I just think most of the QBs of this class are dumb and you can't fix stupid. So I think whoever picks him up will be getting a steal of QB as he probably won't go until later in the draft

I havent watched a lot of Kansas state.
I like Luke Falk a lot but he plays in a spread so not sure how good he will transfer to NFL

Watson is the most complete QB IMO.
Big, Strong, can run the ball, and can throw pretty well
Jackson is good, hes fast & Elusive, but he needs to work on his mechanics as a passer.
ND's Kizer is rated very high... Played very well last year and took his team to a great bowl game. While he had a crap team the guy alone carried that offense.

There are some great pocket passers who will develop into great QB's. Nobody thought Dak Prescott coming out last year was going to be great, but look at how well he turned out because he is 2 dimensional. Can run the ball, can throw, and has the patience to really hit multiple recievers.

lets also look at these players:
Mitch Trubisky from NC --> Put up killer numbers and NC had a great offenese, but very over looked
Davis Webb, QB, California. Cal has been known to put out some great QB's.... Another great year
Chad Kelly, QB, Ole Miss. Very under the radar here.. People will overlook this guy, but has incredible arm strength and can throw the deep ball

Not to take away anything from the Oklahoma QB, Washington QB, and K-State QB who put up great numbers (more passing then running). But it really comes down to the team and how they run their offense. There are lots of great QB's that could come out of this draft. But as we have seen over the years the ones that get a lot of attention in college don't always transition into the big leagues.

IMO this draft has far more QB Choices then last draft that have much more franchise credentials. I really hope Pittsburgh decides to pick up a backup for ben, because ben wont be lasting there too many more years. Would love to see Pittsburgh grab Watson in round #1 but I don't think he will last that long. He would be a great QB in pittsburgh with that offense.

Watson just concerns me with all his ints. Chad Kelly picked apart bama 2015 and gave it run this year. Kid can ball. What if the bills drafted him ? Can you imagine.

Chad Kelly is a raging douche bag. He isn't a team player. His arm is great and he has good pocket awareness, but he doesn't have franchise leadership qualities IMO. He also tore his ACL.

I think it's a weaker QB class. There is no unanimous #1 QB. Rankings are all over the place on all QBs.

Mitch is #1 QB on a lot of draft boards but looked like junk in his bowl game.

FWIW, Oregon ran a spread offense and Mariota is the best redzone QB in the league and is taking some huge steps forward.

I agree Kelly has issues. I do think this year class is a lot weaker.

I liked him a lot for NY and thought his skill set would fit in nicely. Buuuuut then he went and beat up a HS kid and reports came out that he's a douche canoe

Cleveland vs Pitt:
Ugly win for Pittsburgh, but you have to expect that when you rest the big 3 B's in Ben, AB, and Bell. This one went to OT where the Steelers finished the job and almost giving the browns their 2nd win.

Philly Vs Dallas:
Dallas resting a lot of players and giving Romo/Sanchez some snaps at QB. While it is not the Dallas team that will be showing up in the playoffs it is not a game that mattered for them. Dallas just wants to stay healthy going into the playoffs.

Buffalo vs NYJ:
About 200 yards of total offense for Buffalo. Jone and EJ Manuel split reps at QB for the bills which looked very lack luster all game long. NYJ established the line of scrimmage and piled up 100+ rush yards to control the game.

MIN vs Chicago:
Bradford looked great in this game. 250 yards and 3 TD's. What killed Chicago was fumbling the ball 4 times and losing it 3 of those times. Can't expect to do much when you put the pigskin on the ground that many times.

NE vs Miami :
Another week. Another NE Win. Pretty self explanatory here. They are rolling. The head team leading the AFC right now and most likely the favorite to win it in the playoffs unless they can be knocked off.

Indy vs JAX:
Tons of offense on both sides of the ball with each QB throwing for 300+ Yards. Jags losing 2 Fumbles really costed them in the end as they did make more mistakes. A great game that went down to the end.

TB Vs Carolina:
Newton throwing 3 Picks killed the Panthers and gave Tampa Bay one of its best seasons in a few years. Especially when one of those picks went for 6 points which is a huge momentum swing for the Bucs. Kudos to the Bucs on their season after last year they did not look so sharp. They finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs.

Tenn vs Houston:
Osweiler came in to throw 40 passes and put up 250 yards. Still not enough to beat Tennessee who controlled the ground game and put up 100 yards to control the line of scrimmage.

Cincy vs Baltimore:
Dalton & Burkhead spear the Bengals over the Ravens. Their offense took full control this game in the jungle and had them looking like a good team on offense. They were hit or miss all year getting some offense rolling today they did.

Seattle vs SF:
Seattle was too much for SF even on the road. Seattle needs to really focus on getting the running game going again. That seems to be the biggest issue right now is putting the game in Wilson's hands every single week. You can't expect that in the playoffs and going far.

KC vs San Diego:
2 Rivers picks give KC an edge. Both teams played well on the ground game, but KC just had a little bit more firepower in this game. San Diego continues to struggle after losing to the browns.

Denver vs Oakland:
With Carr out.... Oakland just looked bad. I mean BAD on all aspects. Denver came and took charge of this game out of the get go. I hope this is not what the raiders turned into after losing their QB last week.

Arizona vs LA:
LA Had under 20 rush yards all game.. 20... You can't expect a 1st year QB to really control the game when you can not run the ball. Arizona dominated this game with their rush defense and making LA 1 dimensional.

NYG vs Washington:
What a great game .. rivals that always go right down to the wire. NYG really established the run game out of the get go, while the redskins had cousins do his magic in the air. Eli has really been struggling these last few weeks and it carried into today as well. A late INT by the Giants sealed the deal in this one and gave the Giants a much needed W to go to 11-5 for the year.

NO Vs Atlanta:
I keep saying it every week, but ATL is really hitting their stride right now. Offensive has put up 30+ Points for at least 6 games straight. If they continue to keep teams to under 30 points every week and continue to bring that explosive offense they are going to be very hard to beat. Really looking good right now and my darkhorse in the playoffs.

Things to Note Around the League:

Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin suffered an injury to his left shoulder and has been replaced by rookie Connor Cook with less than two minutes to play in the first half.

49ers general manager Trent Baalke confirmed to a local radio station Sunday that he has been fired.

Gates 111 touchdowns for his career, tying the 14-year veteran with Tony Gonzalez for tops all time among tight ends.

The Browns concluded the worst season in team history with a 1-15 record. T

Drew Brees is over 5,000 yards passing for the fifth time in his career with his first pass of the second half. No other QB in NFL history has done it more than once

Saints WR Michael Thomas has set franchise rookie records today with 1,079 receiving yards and 9 touchdown catches.

Playoffs so far.... Waiting on GB vs Detroit Game:

No reports were BS. Go back and read they mobbed his brother he ran on the field and touched no one.

Savage wasn't benched, he was in the concussion protocol.

Also saw a report about a Denver linebacker had a serious neck injury in the Oakland game. Had to be rushed to the hospital and may be paralyzed.

Mike McCoy fired.
Gary Kubiak stepping down due to health reasons.

Wild end of season.

Also - NYG defense dominated and Paul Perkins looked damn good. He finally got the bulk of the carries. Jennings still got almost half the carries but was 1/4 as effective. His pass blocking is improving, too.

2 picks, defensive TD, 4 sacks.

Strong defense + surging run game = playoff trouble.

It was about damn time Perkins got involved more. He is so much more explosive. I'd say Jennings ran harder after seeing Perkins start.

Also, that defense man. Incredible as they had nothing to play for and Washington had everything to play for.

Also, in the playoffs I think Ben needs to take the field goal. We don't score enough to take chances on points unless it's absolutely necessary.

Coaching changes are crazy. Not surprised at Chip. That dude just doesn't seem to be meant for the NFL. He had piss poor player relationships, he can't adjust, and he doesn't value talent. You can't be like that in the NFL.

Chip actually had support in he 49er locker room (surprisingly). But you can't fire a head coach installing a completely new offense after a year - especially when the team is devoid of talent. Baalke pulled a Reese. Drafted too many injured players with potential (Reese just drafts 'potential' players -> Flowers, JPP of tight ends, etc) and only one of them is even in the league anymore. I believe he drafted like 9-10 players coming off knee injuries. Can't have depth like that

The NFL Is a business. If you don't produce, you are gone. Why pay someone who can't win games or take control of the franchise and take them to the playoffs?

Granted some coaches come into teams that are subpar at best and expect a complete turnaround which we know is not 100% doable.

You can't win when you fire back to back HC after a year.. not even the browns do that lol.

I agree 100%, but thats the way of the world unfortunately. Someone doesnt produce they get fired.
Bring in another guy. Doesn't produce fired..
Anyone basically works on a 1 year contract now and days. Not just in the NFL

Players maybe. But any franchise with an ounce of stability will give coaches more than a year. Of course, this is a franchise that forced a winning coach out, kept a player with 157 domestic violence charges, and saw most of its draft picks going towards injured players.

The 49ers are the new bottom feeders. Congratulations, Cleveland! You're moving up in the world.

Jennings blocks better but is a plodder. Perkins is dynamic. I was on the fence about drafting a RB early but I like Perkins enough to not. Get us a LT, ILB, DE, and TE and we'll be solid.

I was surprised to see Snacks play so much. But it makes sense. We will probably let Hankins walk and resign JPP, so need to see it Snacks can be a three down DT. And he can.

Kind of a weak OT class this year. Maybe move Pugh to LT, Flowers to LG, and draft a guard in a mid round.

OJ Howard, Reuben Foster, Zach Cunningham are all on my list in the first. Carlos Watkins, Deshaun Hall, Kendall Beckworth, Anthony Walker, Ryan Ramcyzk would be nice after the first.

I guess you could call it surging compared to run game they had prior.

Anyone have some thoughts on the firing of lane kiffen before the championship game?

"The move came after an uneven offensive performance in Saturday's win over Washington in which quarterback Jalen Hurts passed for a season-low 57 yards. Saban could be seen on the sideline yelling at Kiffin after a three-and-out on the opening series, the latest incident in what sometimes was a contentious relationship between the coaches.

Kiffin, who credits Saban for showing him how to handle an entire program as a head coach, joked last week that he couldn't recall any fond memories at Alabama, only the so-called "ass-chewings" Saban gave him from time to time."

Organizations like the Giants and Steelers do not make frantic moves like that. Tom Coughlin sad something along the lines of "I'm happy to be a part of a franchise with real football people that don't panic if you miss a 3rd down" or something with that sentiment in his final presser to the New York media.

Man the feels during that press conference...

I hated the way Coughlin went out. I think he needed a break, but for JR to spend $200M on a defense devoid of studs when he never near that for Coughlin...

Oh that pissed me off too. Nothing against Ben but Tom hired Spags and now that they spent money the defense is winning all of the games. It was bull**** to make him the fall guy.

Here is a look at candidates for the Bills to consider:
Anthony Lynn: The Bills' offensive coordinator since Week 3
Tom Coughlin: The former New York Giants coach
Sean Payton: CBS Sports reported Dec. 18 that the New Orleans Saints would "consider moving" Payton and would "not require hefty trade compensation" to do so
Josh McDaniels: The New England Patriots offensive coordinator has been a perennial head-coaching candidate,
Kyle Shanahan: After being on the radar for the Bills' head-coaching vacancy two offseasons ago, Shanahan has served as offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.
Todd Haley: The Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator went 19-26 in two-plus seasons as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, but he would signal a shift in philosophy for the Bills after two seasons of Ryan.
Darrell Bevell: Like Shanahan, Bevell was on the Bills' interview list for the opening two years ago. The Seattle Seahawks' offensive coordinator since 2011,
Bill Musgrave: The Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator has served in the same role for the Eagles, Panthers, Jaguars and Vikings but has never served as a head coach
Jim Schwartz: After leading the Bills' defense to a fourth-ranked finish in his only season as defensive coordinator in 2014, Schwartz earned a positive reputation among Bills fans that only grew when Ryan struggled to reach the same results with roughly the same group of players.

Finalists for 2017 Hall of Fame class include LaDainian Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, Brian Dawkins
Devin Hester joining Seattle in wake of Tyler Lockett injury

You think Giants can move up from 32 and get one of those tight ends? Lol

Jake Butt would be there in 3rd i bet but OJ Howard is who I want. I'd take him over Ramcyzk and Cunningham but would still take Randle over either
