2010 College Football Season

Well, I tip my hat to Robert Bolden. A "true" freshman to put up numbers like he did was impressive. The kid has a beautiful release and seems to have a leadership quality already. His "real" test would be to display the same qualities next week on the road, against "almighty" Alabama.....i have faith in the kid and the O-lines pass protection.

On a side note, I was disappointed with PS ability to run the football today. With backs like Royster and Green, I expected alot more. If we cant run the ball and mix it up we are "screwed" next week.

"ROLL OVER TIDE"

The Gators with 12 yards of total offense at the half of their game with a MAC team that won 1 game last year. Wow! The Gators defense looks fast but the offense looks lost.

Good gawd... 26 total yards with 13 minutes left in the game. Pouncey, their center, has had about 12 bad snaps. Miami (OH) just f'd up a chance to make it a one-score game.

I think that so far the lack of offense from Florida is the biggest surprise I've seen.

Did you guys say something? I must of had some sort of stomach virus. I was throwing up since around noon yesterday. :indifferent:

We have backs like hot women in music videos....bama's running core is a monster....nuffffff said

I was impressed with how quick Michigan was on both sides of the ball. Their D has to be quick, because that's about all they'll have to rely on this year. D Robinson was awesome to watch yesterday, but how much of a beating like that can he take all year? Tate Forcier looked like an absolute punk sitting on the bench away from the rest of the TEAM.. I read some of the Detroit paper today & him and his dad (what is he, still in HS??) assured us that he wouldn't be transferring from MI.. We'll see about that when the Freshman plays more 2nd string than Forcier plays..

All in all, I was happy - somewhat impressed w/ the play of my Wolverines.. They set an attendance record yesterday: 113,090!!!

chilled with fam and they had this game on.thought hell its football but didn't expect it to end like this.

Also, Cam Newton seriously was the closest thing Ive seen to Vince Young since 2005.

Too bad he doesn't play cornerback.

Seriously, I've seen this episode before. Auburn gave up 30+ to Ball State and Furman last year, and I tried telling the Barners that it would catch up with them when they faced real competition. But AU fans were all, "It don't matter, man... 'cause we can score at will! You're just a Bama hater! We're back! War Eagle!"

Then came five conference losses and 2nd half beatdowns from Georgia and big brother.

Enter this year's Tiger defense. Almost 300 yards given up through the air to... Arkansas State. Tackling appears to be some ancient lost art form to them, and it's not like they pulled their starters, because it was a 35-23 game in the 3rd quarter. But what do I read all over Facebook? "Cam Newton for Heisman! We're back!"

Facepalm.

Is Cam Newton a stellar athlete? Yes, no question about it. Will a quick-strike offense do any favors to a less-than mediocre defense? Absolutely not. In fact, scoring in 4 plays or less will just put their tired-ass secondary back out on the field sooner than they need to be, without making the clock their ally. It will catch up with them after game 6, I assure you. I'm pretty sure I've never heard it said: "Offense wins championships."

Bottom line: AU as a unit isn't even close to Young's 2005 Texas team who held OU to 12 points and Colorado to 3 points in the Big 12 CG. (Not that you were alluding to that.)

On the Plains, it's just...

I'm a little surprised at the line on some of this week's games...

Ohio State 10.5 over Miami
Alabama 11.5 over Penn State
Oklahoma 8.5 over FSU

And I'm not so surprised at this one...

Auburn 3 over mighty Mississippi State

^^Guess I'm not alone in my AU analysis.

Dude, i'm from Phenix City which is about 30-40 miles from auburn so i'd say about 75% of ppl around here are AU fans. I've never seen such blind faith. They're gonna be missin Tubby really soon!!!

What's great about the Michigan - Notre Dame game... is that someone will lose. :D

I received a text from a guy I work with who told me and I quote " Michigan has to be considered one of the favorites to win the Big Ten after that performance and Robinson is a dark horse Heisman candidate" Really? I text him back with "hey didn't you guys start 4-0 last year" GO IRISH!!

NO way we should be a 10.5 point favorite in that game if anything it's a push. I thought our defense looked slow and Miami will be a huge test of that.

Of course it is photoshopped, but bama fans are professionals are being blind to reality. So they would not notice it. Mississippi state just beat Memphis as bad as Alabama beat San Jose St. so of course the line isn't going to be +20 for an away game. You do realize San Jose St. REALLY was the WORST team in college football last year. That was before they lost there coach and half the team. As much as I want to be impressed with Alabama's win, I can't be. Sorry. Maybe in a few weeks.

We better contain the Lil Wayne AKA "Weezy" look alike or we might give RR another year at the big house! That QB is dangerous if not shut down. And yeah, GO IRISH!

I live 10 minutes from San Jose.

That's my not-so-ambiguous way of saying you're daft. SJSU won a couple of games. The worst team in Div-1 was Western Kentucky. And no, they didn't lose 50% of their players.

But hey... I see what you did there.

Mississippi state just beat Memphis as bad as Alabama beat San Jose St. so of course the line isn't going to be +20 for an away game.

Is that right? I wonder what the line would be if it was Bama @ MSU...

As much as I want to be impressed with Alabama's win, I can't be. Sorry. Maybe in a few weeks.

See, that's the thing... no one expects you to be impressed. You're right. It was San Jose State. UA's supposed to beat them senseless, even without their best players. They're supposed to keep them out of the end zone. Their starting QB and RB played a quarter and a half. I didn't see any of my 150 Bama-fan Facebook friends launching Heisman campaigns for Julio or Trent.

Now... try saying the same for your team. ¿Comprende?

I've seen MULTIPLE heisman campaigns popping up for Richardson. I actually live in ALABAMA too, so I would know. I might be at the Penn State v Alabama game this weekend, jealous?

The kid only played a quarter and a half, and had <70 yards, so I doubt you saw serious talk about that after the game. And yes, I'm aware you're still in my home state. You should try living outside of Alabama for more than a weekend... might give you a different perspective on that rivalry and your fan base. You know, fish out of water sort of thing.

I might be at the Penn State v Alabama game this weekend, jealous?

Yes. A lot.

But I'll say this: If you are going just to pull for a Big Ten squad to upset an SEC team who factors into AU's strength of schedule... you are full of FAIL. If not, then let me be the first to say how handsome you'll look in a houndstooth hat.

I'll just have to wait and catch the Tide in Arizona this January. ;)

They move the Music City Bowl to January this year? :)

I'm not pulling for anyone, just want to see a good football game and it's only about 35 minutes from me.

Have fun, dude. Fan or not, that stadium is ridiculous, and this particular rivalry has a rich history. When you're old like me, it will mean something to you that you got a chance to see JoePa roam the sideline.

I tried to sign up on ESPN & it stopped me @ step 2.. WTF.. Maybe Mozilla stopped it? I'll try IE.

Miss State is actually a program rising. Dan Mullen is doing things there and all they've been missing is a QB in that Dan Mullen offense. They are doing good things there. Thats why.

Anyways, Cam doesnt have the defense but that is largely because of the way Tubbs left it. Chiz is a defensive master, See 2004 and 05. Give it a year or two. Tailback U with Dyer and probably Blakely. Give the d a year or two to catch up.

Not a huge fan of either team, but they're playing a helluva game!! Especially with determination like this:

boise state!!! i moved to utah about 4 years ago but i have really embraced the teams of the mountain west conference, and boise isn't too far from here so i've kept tabs on them as well. great game tonight

That's... convenient.

The refs really helped out ESPN's precious Broncos on that last drive. Can't have the media darlings 80 yards away from the endzone. I have never seen a referee take back an illegal block in the back call. And that "late hit?" Dude was trying to high-wire the sideline, but the V-Tech defender has to pull up? However, the Boise State corner can grab the receiver on the last play and it's a no-call. (((gag)))

Congrats, Boise State. You barely beat a mediocre ACC team... and, besides lame-ass Oregon State, you don't have to play anyone in the top 60 the rest of the way.

3-Time Media Champions.

Across all my message boards, every single complaint about the referees except one were from Alabama fans. Results of the game not to your liking? Bitch! Its the Alabama way. All of them hate playoffs too.

Really, shithead? Well, I watched the game with LSU, USC, and Cal fans... and they all feel the same way about the ESPN-Boise State romance. It was almost intolerable listening to Musburger and Herbstreit make on-air love to Boise for 3+ hours. You know who deserves it more? Utah. They don't get half the love that Boise gets. They went undefeated a few times as well, have played in a tougher conference, and won a BCS game against an SEC opponent who won the BCS title the following year. Wanna know how BSU would fair if they played ranked opponents more than once a season? Google their 2005 schedule.

Oh, and I'm all for a playoff.

Guess that makes me the atypical Bama Fan in your book. Like I care, you judgmental prick.

Btw, don't think I'm the only one who's noticed you haven't said a word about Texas since January 7th. The timing of your shift to neutrality is not surprising, but it makes you nothing more than a spectator in this thread.

Man, I agree 1000%. That first quarter was like watching "Love Story". I thought Brent was gonna put on lipstick, hit the field, and start making out with some of the Broncos. God it was sickening. I swear they were humming "Please Go All The Way" by the Raspberries midway through the 4th quarter.

And can't we go 15 minutes without hearing the word "Cinderella"?????

Worst part about that prom party last night? It almost certainly left only one chair for the big dance. :zx11pissed:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's not looking forward to hearing all the Boise State BCS talk now. Put them in the SEC, and they're middle of the road at best.

Cam Newton SEC Player of the Week

Cam Newton was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week by the league office Monday after lighting up Arkansas State in a 52-26 win last Saturday. Newton rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns in the opener.

Damn. Why did he have to commit that felony at UF 2 years ago and get thrown off the team???

It will only be all season longggggggg. So this season will be painful.

Our only hope in restoring some sort of order is that whoever faces them in January does something along the lines of what Florida did to Cincy in the Sugar Bowl last year (51-24). Anything short of that and, well, uh, - I don't even want to think about it.

I thought felonies were prerequisite for SEC ballers, that and suv's (booster supplied) rollin on dubs. Wait a minute it's the south so to be accurate, it's suv's (booster supplied) tippin fo fo's.

If 2 other teams from actual football conferences go undefeated the Strength of schedule will kill Boise in the end, especially after Va Tech loses 3 games this year.

I think even a 1 loss team from a good conference should go to the dance before them.

I agree completely. How are we going to console rubbering when Bama loses their only game this year to the Gators and Boise loses to my Buckeyes in the NC game instead of the Tide?
