2010 College Football Season

Coming from the guy who called me a f@g.

You seem curiously affected by that. It's just a cigarette, dude. ;)

Hey, since you were just a pup when this went down, I thought I'd catch you up on Auburn's history of cheating. It's a worthwhile read... especially the part about Pat Dye using his health as a plea for sympathy.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of this on Friday...

OMG that Florida tackle got blown up. I look forward to a Bama victory over the cheaters. roll tide!

Sorry BUCK, I didn't mean for it to sound like a slight. I was just thinking I could hear Boise knob-slobbers like ESPN saying something to the extent of, "Well, they couldn't do any worse." And I did hear that on ESPN right after I posted it.

As much as I love the SEC-Big Ten back-and-forth in these threads, I have a ton of respect for a traditional, defensive-minded power like Ohio State.

While I'm sure you're thinking Pasadena, I think a Bama-OSU match-up in the Capital One Bowl would be incredible.

We have no shot at Pasadena but I am hoping for an at large if we beat Michigan and finish 11-1. That is much less of a certainty this year than in any previous year though so perhaps that Bama-OSU match-up is a possibility.

I've watched the documentary on ESPN. That 100 dollars a week and helping him get a loan that he'd have to repay was pretty intense. Suprised they didn't burn down the entire university over that catastrophe.

WHAT!? You really do have the blinders on bro!

WHAT!? You really do have the blinders on bro!

So what's your side of it then? Eric Ramsay was trash. He ASKED for all this stuff over and over again and then when he got it he threw Auburn under the bus when he couldnt make it as a pro. That kid is a joke.

Ramsey's most specific allegations centered on Auburn booster Bill "Corky" Frost. Ramsey alleged that Frost had made at least two of Ramsey's monthly car payments and given him steaks to help him gain weight. He also claimed Young had paid him $300 per month. The most damaging allegation, however, was pointed at Auburn coach and athletic director, Pat Dye, who he claimed had helped him receive an unsecured loan for over $9,000 in April 1990.

Blinders? You guys are complete morons.

I'd really like to bring some of my friends who actually go to UAT and work in the restaurants on to this forum and let them tell you how the manager leaves envelopes of cash for the players when they come and how they've never once paid for food there. You are the ones with blinders.

I knew you were full of it when I saw the words "my friends."

Yeah.. by friends I mean the people I know in PERSON. Not the type of internet friends you have, where you practice jerking each other off on the internet all day.

Most of what you post is pretty transparent... but dude, that takes the cake.

I have no pony in the race when it comes to the delightful rivalry going in this thread.:lol: What I do know are the FACTS about your school's history of violations that go back to the 50s. You cannot deny them they are a matter of public record and everyone knows them. It appears to me that you are blinded when you repeatedly attempt to explain away blatant cheating under Dye, the Ramsay stuff is tip of the iceberg and you know it. There is one football program with more violations in it's history and that's SMU and they got the death penalty.

Breaking news...

ESPN has just reported that the FBI placed an individual in protective custody months ago, in connection with inappropriate recruiting practices at Auburn University. In a strange turn of events, the report states the man bribed AU into paying him $250,000 to stay away from its football program. No name has been released, but sources have confirmed the person is known online as...

TexasTitan.

Speaking of closet homosexuality what ever happened to TexasTitian?

See above.

If that rumor isn't true, maybe he's met someone close to Auburn... and they're... oh, I don't know... "jerking each other off on the internet all day." :yuck:

Holy cow (Auburn allusion)... I'm like a prophet or something! I post a wiki for Eric Ramsey... and the NY Times prints an article for tomorrow's paper, setting the stage for what's about to go down on the Plains. Surprisingly, they take a different stance than our resident douche bag.

Btw... h0other was 7 years old when the Ramsey ordeal went down. So clearly, his opinion was given to him by his "Family." All in.

A Hard-to-Forget Voice From Auburn’s Haunted Past
By WILLIAM C. RHODEN

Eric Ramsey is one of the best-known players in Auburn football history, yet he holds no records and won’t be found on any highlight reels.

His stature as an unforgettable figure in Tigers lore was secured when he brought down the football program — all by himself.

Now 43, Ramsey has been following the stories about the N.C.A.A. investigation into the recruitment of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, and wondering how much things have changed.

Ramsey was a defensive back at Auburn from 1987 to 1990. He made national news in November 1991 with the blockbuster disclosure that he had secretly tape recorded three years of conversations with coaches and boosters that showed improper payments to athletes and, according to Ramsey, backed up his allegations of rampant racism within the program.

Ramsey has always maintained that he was not out to put Auburn on probation, which occurred in 1993. He said he went public with the tapes to prove a point.

“I wrote a term paper for a sociology class about what it was like to be a black student at a predominately white university,” Ramsey said by phone from his home in Los Angeles. The treatment of black football players by the Auburn coaching staff made up a significant part of the paper.

After his professor leaked the paper to The Montgomery Advertiser, Ramsey came under attack from all corners, especially from the Auburn athletic department.

“The reason I brought the tapes out is because the backlash was so intense,” Ramsey said. “I just felt like, O.K., if they don’t believe me, then I know they are going to believe this because I have proof.”

In the process, he also outed himself as being on the take, revealing N.C.A.A. violations pertaining to improper benefits he received from a booster and members of the coaching staff. The fallout was significant: Pat Dye resigned as football coach and athletic director, and in August 1993, the N.C.A.A. placed Auburn on probation for two years with significant penalties. A former football coach, a former administrative assistant and two boosters were permanently barred from involvement with the program.

One of the most chilling — and poignant — moments on the Ramsey tapes occurred when one of the barred boosters explained to Ramsey the so-called facts of life for a black athlete at Auburn. In one taped segment, a man identified by Ramsey as a booster who had given him food and money warned that, despite his football accomplishments, Ramsey would be shunned if he ever exposed the gifts.

“Don’t you know, Eric, there are all kinds of people who will look you in the face, say that they love you and tell you what a great guy you are,” the booster said. Ramsey said he was stunned when the booster told him white fans who cheered him so vociferously were referring to him with racial epithets behind his back. “Eric, that’s the real world.”

The tapes also revealed that Dye loaned money to Ramsey and called a loan officer at a local bank to help him get an unsecured personal loan. Ramsey said boosters gave him $1,200 to help buy a car and a $300 monthly stipend, and offered performance incentives ranging from $100 for big hits to $500 for touchdowns. He said at the time that he knew of at least 15 players who took cash from coaches and boosters. Terry Bowden, who replaced Dye in 1993, said in a 2001 interview that boosters were paying players cash — $12,000 to $15,000 to sign — when he arrived.

Ramsey married his first wife, Twillitta, in the middle of their freshman year at Auburn. Later, when the tapes were made public, they feared for their safety and moved with their son, Ahmad, out of Alabama, their home state.

They later completed their undergraduate requirements elsewhere and walked across the stage together at Auburn in 1992 — to jeers — to receive their degrees. Ramsey currently works as an actor and a screenwriter and runs his own security company. He has produced two short films and is hoping to produce a film titled “The Promise,” about his childhood and time at Auburn.

Ramsey was clearly not a hero and does not portray himself as one. He participated in and profited from an underground system of gifts and payments that violated N.C.A.A. rules.

“I lost a little bit of myself when I took the money,” he said. “You always do when you get bought; most athletes don’t realize it at the time. Players for the most part don’t care about integrity. The light they see at the end of the tunnel is money.

“Maybe that’s why I told. I felt guilty about it and wanted to clear my conscience.”

His experience at Auburn and everything he has seen since — megacompensation packages for coaches and unprecedented revenue in big-time football and basketball — has only reinforced his position that football players should be paid.

As for the tapes and revealing the underground cheating at Auburn, he said: “I’d do it again. I’d just do it a different way.

“At the end of the day, people you thought cared for you really didn’t care for you. It was just more about them getting what they had to get out of it.”

Eric Ramsay was trash. He ASKED for all this stuff over and over again and then when he got it he threw Auburn under the bus when he couldnt make it as a pro. That kid is a joke.

See, this is exactly why Auburn is inevitably doomed. Auburn fans are more concerned with blaming Ramsey instead of being pissed at the people who were/are still paying players. This is why it has likely happened again, and will continue to happen unless the NCAA and/or FBI steps in. Sure, Ramsey is no saint... but why do AU fans ignore the corruption at their own school? Lowder and Dye should've been blacklisted in 1992.

But hey... WDE, I guess.

So rubberring -- Even if this is true and Auburn did end up paying Cam (WHICH I DO NOT THINK THEY DID).. will you please go on record and say that Auburn is the only school in which giving priviledges to football players which are not given to ordinary students occurs. I'll even go as far to say as Alabama players are not given ANY priveledges beyond what a normal student would occur. Just a (YES) or (NO) answer is needed.

The stuff with Dye (Allowing a student to be approved for a loan) which he IS paying is probably one of the weakest allowances a college player has ever received. Ramsey was rascist towards white people and wanted to bring down what he believed to be a white dominant college(This was over 20 years ago). Ramsey should be blacklisted from life and if I saw him tommorow he would know he was blacklisted from my vision. He's a certified piece of sh!t.

Vaunted defense?

I see this phrase mentioned a lot: "Bama will stop Cam Newton".

Weird thing about that is, South Carolina said that too. So did Arkansas. So did LSU. So did Kentucky. So did Georgia.

It's one thing to say you can. Then you step on the field and look into the eyes of this 6-6, 250 lb. monster.

It doesn't matter if you have the "correct" scheme to contain him... actually, I'll take that back. There is NO correct scheme to contain him, because it hasn't been done and can't be done.

Cam Newton is a big-time player. Big-time players make big-time plays in big-time games. Folks, I believe this is a big-time game. Cam has been his best in big games. He accounted for 217 rushing yards against LSU, 334 total yards against South Carolina, 299 total yards against Georgia and 338 yards against Georgia. Not to mention he had a game this year in which he threw for 317 yards... in the first half.

The Tide's "vaunted" defense surrendered over 400 yards to LSU and made Jordan Jefferson look like Joe Montana.
Jordan freaking Jefferson!
Who can forget how easily the South Carolina Game****s made it look against Bama's defense? 35 points, and Garcia went 17-20 in the game and connected plenty of times with Alshon Jefferey.

Here are ten reasons why I believe Cam Newton will bag up the Heisman in Tuscaloosa with the best game of his career.

1. Bama's false sense of security.
They have won 20 consecutive games at Bryant-Denny, true. It is true that in those 20 games, the highest point total given up by Alabama is 20 points. But none of those 20 opponents are even nearly as good as the 2010 Auburn Tigers. Bama claims to have a "better defense at home". How many good offenses have gone in Tuscaloosa this year? Florida? Epic fail. Penn State? Epic fail. Mississippi State or Ole Miss? Dead wrong. If you honestly believe Bama's "home defense" will hold Cam's offense to 3 points like everyone else, try again.

2. He's just an absolute beast no matter what.
He has 20 passing TDs, 17 rushing TDs and a receiving TD. Nobody has learned how to stop... no, even contain the guy!

3. If any defense could have stopped him, it's LSU.
How did LSU fare against Newton? Didn't LSU have the third-ranked defense in the nation? Didn't they have studs like Drake Nevis, Kelvin Sheppard and Patrick Peterson? Well, that didn't stop Newton. He did go 10-16 for 86 yards, but when you barely try to pass, you won't tack up many yards. But the real story was running. Auburn ran for 440 yards, 217 off the legs of Cam Newton. Alabama's defense wishes it was as good as LSU's.

4. No pressure of being the favorite.
Last time I checked, two-loss Alabama was favored by five over 11-0 Auburn. HOW? Because Alabama is Alabama. They will always be favored to beat Auburn by simple virtue that they're Alabama. Unlike last year for Alabama, Auburn will try to finish 12-0 without any pressure whatsoever. Everybody expects Auburn to lose, so neither Cam Newton nor any other players or coaches feel added pressure.

5. Clog the middle and you're dead.
If Alabama tries to bring in eight in the box and blitz, Bama will be destroyed in so many ways. Their defensive line is just awful--- not nearly good enough to get past Auburn's offensive line, which is the best college football has seen in a few years. Bama's D-Line will be ineffective, it's obvious. So if Bama is going to risk keeping Linebackers in to blitz or stop the inside run, then Cam can either:

1) Hand off to McCalebb around the corner. See ya.
2) Still run up the middle and fall forward for four yards anyways.
3) Throw the ball against Bama's inexperienced and sometimes dreadful secondary, especially across the middle. If Bama clogs the middle, then Emory Blake and Philip Lutzenkirchen are going to carve Alabama up all game---s o much that they'll throw a little party on their way to the end zone.

6. Don't clog the middle and... you're still dead.
If you don't clog the middle, then Newton will run wild behind that senior offensive line that has pushed everybody back this season. Dyer will also sneak his way through for big runs. McCalebb still has the speed, and Bama's secondary isn't exactly legendary, even at home. Cam can still make those throws.

7. Big players make big plays in big games.
I think this is a big game....

8. Auburn is due for a big win.
After losing two straight and having morons in their mothers' basements like Thayer Evans spreading garbage about Cam Newton and having Mississippi State boosters present different stories with no proof, Auburn is due for a monster game. Auburn deserves this game. I wonder where those Bama fans are that greeted Chizik at the airport...

9. Gus Malzahn.
Last year, an average offense at Auburn played well against a Tide defense that's 10X better than this years' version. Auburn has a better offense and Bama's defense is worse. Gus Malzahn is on fire in playcalling right now.

10. Auburn will truly let Cam loose now.
I think Cam Newton will have the best game of his life in this game. It's setting up for 101,000 shocked people in red. They have no clue what's really coming to Bryant-Denny Stadium. Cam will be the leader of the offense in this game and will his team to victory.

Pretty weak, actually. Saban said they were dismissed for violating team rules or for grades. Prince Hall had already been suspended 3 times. Alonzo Lawrence had to transfer to JUCO from Southern Miss due to grades. Preyear tranferred to Alabama State and is currently not playing due to grades.

Brandon Fanney transferred after starting in 2007 and finishing 2nd on the team in total tackles. You think Saban asked him to get lost for no good reason? I bet Cheesenip would've paid him to stay. Literally.

(Btw, you sound really worried.)

"I will not be the leaving Miami to be the coach of Alabama"

Once a liar, always a liar. Yet you're the first to critisize my schools ethics.

"While at Ole Miss, Tommy Tuberville made the statement, "They’ll have to carry me out of here in a pine box," in reference to not leaving to coach at another school."

...and more importantly...

"Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard said today that former football coach Gene Chizik told him twice that he planned to turn down the Auburn job — including the same day he accepted the position. Pollard expressed clear and consistent frustration that Chizik left the Cyclones after two seasons, five victories and the most recent 2-10 season. "I know Jamie Pollard couldn't do that to this place," Pollard said during his first public comments about Chizik's departure."

Does the hypocrisy ever end with you? Get help.

Looks like a cover up by the AD to me. I didn't know of that though. If it's true then I'll take that as a good point. The rest of the stuff about him forcing players to leave because of his oversigning I do believe though. No other way to explain his excessive over signing each year. 2nd on the team in total tackles of a 6-6 team doesn't seem to thrilling to me :)

Yeah my 500 word post about how you guys couldnt stop Jordan Jefferson or Garcia definitely shows a mamouth ammount of worries. You do realize they both suck right? And you do realize your playing against the best QB in the country this weekend? Just checking.

Oh and by the way... EXCELLENT recruiting on Star Jackson. I must say you over did yourself with that one. It's not often that the "top recruiter" in the country can find such a gem. Who would have known that the the ex-heir apparent to the continuous cycle of terrible QB's at Alabama wouldn't just not be the starter at 1st year program GEORGIA STATE, but be the 3rd string QB. A++

Well, at least Auburn's getting the national attention they so desperately craved. You must be so proud, h0oth.

"One of the figures in the ongoing investigations into the Cam Newton saga is expected to sit down with the state’s secretary of state office, according to The New York Times. Kenny Rogers, who has ties to NFL agent Ian Greengross, claims Cecil Newton told him last year it would take between $100,000 and $180,000 for his son, Cam, to sign with Mississippi State."

"Yet one more general manager made the politically incorrect, but perhaps accurate, assessment that Newton was the ‘black Ben Roethlisberger.’”

Similar could be said for AU's current secondary. They'd all be 3rd stringers at GA ST. as well.

But yeah... Alabama's recruiting horribly. Good point. ;)

You must be confused, Auburn IS STILL REBUILDING. This IS a rebuilding year. Last year our roster had 15 less players than it should of had (THIS IS WHY OUR DEFENSE IS LACKING ), Thank you Tubberville. We are relying on ALOT of young players and the 2 seniors in our secondary are coming off major injuries (BROKEN NECK SOUND FAMILIAR). We have solid skill players but we are definitely still in a rebuilding year. This would kind of be like Sabans first year when you were rebuilding. The only difference is that we are winning our games, and you were losing to Louisana-Monroe.

Okay... you've mentioned that four times now. You're not really laughing. You are obviously bothered. Go back and look at the post. Notice the word is in the smallest font size available? Yeah... it was meant to be facetious. Now though... it takes on a whole new life.

Dude, I'm not debating that it's his mom's car... I'm just saying that it's far from unusual to see lower-income southern black folks driving Cadillacs, while living in substandard housing, using food stamps, etc. I don't mean that to sound racist... it's just all about priorities. C'mon, man. You live in the B'ham area, don't you? Is this really out of the ordinary?

On a civil note... Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I'm pretty sure I mean that.

I've seen that video already. I was watching a better one last night but I was so tired that I forgot to put it up.

Alright, the time is now 11:45 am PST, and the Iron Bowl is less than 24 hours away. I am officially ending my pre-game smack talk at this point. Time to eat some turkey, hang with family, and then watch the Texas-TAMU game while fighting a tryptophan-induced coma.

I see this as a game that could go either way. An AU blowout. An AU collapse. A close game. A not-so close game. I definitely have a feel for how the game is likely to turn out though.

Either way, I wouldn't change sides if given the opportunity... and neither would you.

If AU wins, I won't make excuses or bring up the current allegations/rumors... for as long as they remain allegations/rumors... in context to the outcome.

If Bama wins, I don't expect to hear any excuses from you either.

Neither one of us is playing in this game, and the Iron Bowl is clearly bigger than both of us and our little online beef.

Here's to a classic game. May the best team win.

War Eagle! ROLL TIDE!

Sounds good. I've told you multiple times that I am worried about this game. I believe we have the skil advantage and are the better team but the iron bowl is always crazy. Last year we shouldnt of been able to come within 21 points of you guys and managed to keep the lead til 2 min left in the game. Good luck.
