2009 College Football Season

Man, Gary, the commentator, not Vern, I'd whip that a$$ all over the field....shut your fking mouth.."should have been a penalty for taking his helmet off"

Dude... he's right. The play isn't over until someone downs the ball. We got lucky.

EDIT: Nevermind... on a blocked field goal, the kicking team cannot advance it. The ball was beyond the LOS, so an excessive celebration penalty would've allowed no provision for another down to be run. Just a 15 yard penalty on Bama, who has possession. Game over.

Wow, great game. I must say, Cody is like a fukcing truck, haha. This exactly how I felt last week in the Florida/Arkansas game; a win is a win in the end; ugly or not.

We continue on course to meet in the SEC championship game! :beerchug:

I know he's right, but he's very just so damn.....what's the word for it? snide? He always makes comments about what someone should do....i dunno...I am happy this win is over, I was on the edge of tears over here though...that's why I am like........yelling and on the phone to everyone right now...

Had we lost, I was not even going to work tomorrow, period. Those guys would have torn me apart at work....no way, and I can't take ribbing..

Queue the Kiffin--"We lost, but we really should've beaten the team I deemed to be #1... so therefore, we are actually the new #1 team"--logic.

Look, I'm not delusional or anything. Bama didn't exactly deserve the win. But what Kiffin displays isn't positive thinking... it's that stuff that snotty pre-teens do when they don't get their way.

I'm almost glad it ended the way it did. Had to be much more painful for Lame.

This Miami-Clemson game is a dandy. I rarely flip back and forth when the Tide's playin'... but this one is a barn-burner. Almost makes up for the lack of offense in the UT-Bama game... almost.

I've endured enough of that with my Red Sox after this post season. :zx11pissed:

As much as I probably should have been cheering for UT to pull the upset (being a Gator), I just fukcing hate Tennessee; that and I REALLY want to see us face off (undefeated) in the SEC championship game. It would be yet again, Epic. In fact, I'm wearing my "Smack Talk" t-shirt today that rips on Tennessee. :D

GO SEC!

Hey didn't I just say Bama had a D. That's what they are there for. Great win dude.

Thanks, man. Likewise on the win.

Saban needs to call in "Extreme Makeover: SEC Offense Edition." Seriously, I love me some defense--and this squad is one of the best I've seen--but when you have talent on offense going to waste like that, it's very frustrating for a fan to watch.

That's a pretty fair assessment at this point.

Oh, and Bama needs a bye week. Badly.

Dude, please, I am sure that you are smarter than that about football.

It is quite hard to catch the ball when you have 3 guys on you....

Today they switched the pass schemes and Jones has had some success...the issue is that the play calling, overall, is quite horrid at this point.

Ingram marched them down the field then they toss 2 passes to Jones, unreal?

I would wildcat them to death until the stopped it

Rubbering, have you not seen him power through about 6 tackles today?

Lul.

Pay me no mind man...i've been a bama fan since i was 5 yrs old, old enough to know what football even was....

I take it to heart, so pay me no attention if i spasm out in this thread...if you notice, it's the only thread that I go bonkers in despite all the threads that i post in

Man, I was hoping for an AU win tonight against LSU to give Bama an edge in the SEC West. Doesn't look like that's gonna happen.

Wow... Auburn really sucks. No defense at all. I bet even Bama could score a TD on 'em.

No, I just think its funny how both Bammers need to get on the same page.

Unified front!

Okay, Auburn's offense is officially terrible as well. In fact, I think AU's 2008 team would beat the current addition. At least they played defense. (Well, except for the Iron Bowl.) Wasn't LSU-Auburn close last year?

LOL @ calling a timeout at the end. Should've gone for two while they were at it.

Florida wins, but I'm not a happy camper. We have much work to do on offense in the coming weeks. The talent is there, but the play calling is absolutely awful at times. The defense played very well even minus 3 starters. Props to Dan Mullen for his efforts tonight; god I miss him. :(

Florida and Bama lucked the **** out. Luckily, this plays into my "**** up the BCS" plan. Hopefully boise, cinci, even iowa go undefeated. A few others. **** up the BCS once and for all.

Also, Im sure its old, but I love it.

I'm with you, but I just don't see it happening any time soon. Of course, the Big Ten commissioner has a lot to do with the current form of the BCS and the lack of a playoff.

Btw, I know you're not big on LSU, but they look to be peaking at just the right time. Of course, Auburn's D can make any team look like a juggernaut.

USC finally met an offense who wouldn't lay down for them.

Who hasnt Auburn gone down on lately? /Discussion.

LSU is raw talent. Period. Auburn has a pathetic defensive squad at the moment too.

I was thinking back on the Bama-UT game today, and it occurred to me: Lame Kiffin is a contemptible version of Mike Shula in orange.

Speaking of which, I see that TAMU laid 52 on T-Tech today.

I dont think anyone can predict what the **** A&M is doing. I wish theyd lost to bring in Tubby.

But some Bammer on another board said the Bama QB was a warrior for "winning" of his games so far. I laffed. Then a GT guy said Nesbitt was a decent QB and said his hate stemmed from the fact hes not a "pure passer." I loled.

Yeah, we are definitely feeling the loss of Mullen (and Harvin & Murphy). I was a fool to think we could easily replace such important people. I also thought things would get better week-to-week on offense but it seems not.
I see SEC CG as a titanic defensive struggle. Whoever (Gators or Tide) can jump start their impotent offense between here are there will win that game.

I don't know. Kiffin gets get under your skin so much easier. Probably because he came into SEC calling his coaching collegues cheaters. The guy has no class, and that's the worst thing of all.

HA!!!!!!! Did that come from the Tiger Droppings board? Those cajuns are nutz! And tons of fun. Crazy, ah-eee!

Tough loss in Raiderland this weekend. Simple put, Tech with Sheffield=WIN, Tech with Potts=LOSS, regardless of who we are playing, good or bad.

There's a lot of football left to play but man it sure seems like 11-1 is a real possibility with this remaining schedule.

:(

I'm tired of this sh*t. Blow a game we should win on multiple fronts. Head Coach blames the players. I dunno what to think.

We are done. Lucky for the Peach Bowl.

Hey TT and others, I have a question for ya: Would you be interested in going to the BCS Championship Game if it turns out to be Texas vs. Bama/Florida? Spare me the California jokes... I'm being serious. Believe me, I'm no fan of soCal either, but my wife has family there. She's a hotel manager and can book us a few nice (and free!) rooms in Buena Park, which is a short drive from Pasadena. I'll have my car as well, so we wouldn't really need to worry about a rental either.

OG and Trauma, this offer goes out to the Gator crew as well. Whoever's down for meeting up will just need to cover airfare/game ticket/food. I'll even pick you guys up from LAX.

It would be kinda cool to go to the big game (I've never been to a nat'l championship) and hang out for a day or two without our keyboards!

Give it some thought. I'm probably going to go regardless of who plays.

Brah - I might come. If we can get tickets together. Gotta be hard. I've got cash to throw down. I think....

I could care less of that matchup but would love to hit a national title game.

I hear what you're saying BN. Pryor is from my state (PA) and I followed his recruitment closely. I was disappointed he didn't come to Penn State.

With hindsight I think Pryor picked the wrong system. PSU would have been wrong also. Don't you think the kid would have served himself (and his team) better by going to a true spread like Michigan or UF?? Seriously. OSU always did better with slow, sure footed pocket masters just as you say. Maybe they shouldn't have pressed for him so hard.

Maybe. I dunno. Kid doesn't have the capability to read any part of a defense it seems. He'd be more effective in the spread/wildcat but I doubt he's ever a Heisman contender at QB.

Could he bring his team to the brink of a conference title in the right offense? Yes. Would he bring them to the brink of a national title in the right offense? Very unlikely. Won't say it wouldn't happen.

Evidently, the SEC doesn't want the AR/FL game to be viewed. They have removed it from secsports.com. Coach P met with SEC officials today to discuss and review film. He was reported to have "left that meeting unsatisfied."

The refs were paid or ordered to create spots and calls for the Gates or whatever. Something stinks.

The conference stands to lose a lot of money if UF or UA lose before ATL....

Cool, man! I have no idea how hard the tix are to come by/group together. I'll find out. Now you need to talk Trauma into making the trip.

Um. That wasn't the sentiment for Gator fans I know...

Will Tebow stop Bama again!?

Will Tebow stop Bama again!?

Probably. Not to be a negative Nelly, but I've got a feeling Alabama won't win all of their next four games. LSU is the obvious threat in two weeks. If Bama wins, they're back in Atlanta to face Tebow and the Gators. But Mississippi State is another Tennessee-esque trap game in Starkville, and Auburn's season is so trashed, they'll pull out all the stops in the Iron Bowl just to salvage it. I don't know... just can't see another 12-0 regular season this year.

On a positive note, the transformation in Tuscaloosa has been pretty dramatic. A 20-2 record over the last two seasons, including 13-1 in SEC play. Consistently ranked in the top 5. Say what you will about Saban, but the guy's a beast of a college coach. I NEVER thought times like these were on the horizon 4-5 years ago. Too bad those f#%king Gators had to turn their program around at the same god#%mn time!

I wish LSU would find more ways to work Russell Shepard into the offense. That kid is going to be something special.

Alabama next after Tulane. I'm sure the Tigers have you sweating now rubbering.

Also I like how Florida and Alabama take their bye weeks before they play LSU. I'm just saying. :wink1:

Russel Sheppard is fast with a scat back build. We'll see how much more there is beyond that.

HAHAHAHA @ Lame Kitten.

It's not LSU who has me sweating, it's Alabama's sudden inability to get into the end zone that has me concerned.

As for the bye week thing... all I know is that Auburn has 13 days to prepare for the Iron Bowl, while Alabama plays them 6 days after their prior game.

Too bad those f#%king Gators had to turn their program around at the same god#%mn time!

Like Ali and Frazier fighting at the same time in history.
Three great fights, but Ali only won two.

Seriously though. The 'Bama - Gator teams of a year ago seemed hungrier, more talented, better coached.
Maybe there really is something to be said about motivation after a perfect or NC season.

HEY RUBBERRING! Remember what I said about Kiffin's brown-nosing?? And how he would talk sh*t about you the next week?? Well here you go. The refs lost it for him. Worst yet the Tide (and let's throw in the Gators for good measure) dare to "live on".

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Tennessee's Lane Kiffin was reprimanded Monday by the Southeastern Conference for criticizing officials.

For Kiffin, it was the second time this year he has been reprimanded by the league. SEC commissioner Mike Slive said Kiffin could be suspended if he violates conference rules again.

On Sunday, Kiffin questioned why officials failed to penalize Alabama's Terrence Cody for unsportsmanlike conduct when the defensive lineman removed and threw his helmet after blocking a field goal on the last play of Alabama's 12-10 victory in Tuscaloosa.

He also said he decided to let the clock run down instead of trying to run another play before the kick because he was concerned about the officiating.

"You run another play and you throw an interception or they throw another flag on us — I wasn't going to let the refs lose the game for us there and some magical flag appear," Kiffin said.

Kiffin expected to be hearing from the SEC about his comments.

"I'm sure we'll get one of those letters that really means nothing as Bobby got last week, but Florida and Alabama live on," he said Sunday.

Yeah Lame, we "live on". Just barely though. Combined 14-0.

To be fair, the refs in the Florida-Arky game ****ed Arkansas like a cheap whore.
Hogs had a great game to be sure.
Still, Gators turned it over about 5 times, 3 times in red zone. Stats don't have game being that close. So, IMO, nobody really got ****ed except those cheap whores of which you speak.

Doesn't change my opinion of Kiffin in the least.

Agreed. Arkansas did play a great game, but nobody should overlook how Florida got it done when they had to. Opportunity will come and go; capitalizing on it is vital. Turnovers will kill you, and we were very lucky to escape that game with so many; especially in the red zone. There are always going to be questionable calls in sports. Some will go your way, and some won't. I can remember back to the '07 UF vs LSU game. PLENTY of sketchy calls, but that's the way it goes at times. The home team will always have some advantages in that regard; whether people are ignorant to that factor or not.

In the end though, a win is a win; ugly or not. There is no other person I would want to lead my team down the field in a situation that is vital than Tim Tebow. The kid is just a winner all around, and he knows how to motivate and lead his team to victory when he has too. How many other teams can say they have one guy that can carry them on his back WHEN/IF he has too? The answer is none; just one of that many factors that make Tebow so dynamic. Love him or hate him, his leadership and motivational skills are second to none in college football, period.
